The restaurant has been listed on Michelin Guide for 5 years in a row since 2017 (to year 2021) If you visit the restaurant, you can enjoy two things: tradition and taste. Tradition: The restaurant has history over 40 years, speciallized in wheat noodles. The roof tiles inside are over 300 years (and those outside are over 100 years) Taste: I tried Bulgogi (marinated beef) and cold wheat noodles. The dishes are not over-seasoned and a neat taste can help people not to be fed up with the food. Rather it can remind people of the food again and make them visit again.

Despite receiving numerous Michelin recommendations, my experience at this restaurant left me thoroughly disappointed. The soup lacked any remarkable flavor, and the dumplings were quite ordinary, failing to impress. Even the so-called "kimchi pancake" turned out to be nothing more than a simple combination of kimchi and pancake. It's evident that something got lost in translation, as the dishes failed to live up to the high expectations set by the restaurant's reputation. At this point, I can't help but think that any nearby restaurant would have been a better choice than this one.

Supposedly, a Michelin rated place for a long time and recommended by many celebrities, including by past and current presidents - see my photos. Perhaps our expectations were too high. The food was really terrible, with really strong and objectionable aroma from the main dish -- a stew of vegetables and organic beef raised singularly in Korea (sort of like Japanese Wagyu beef). The root cause may be stale beef or double cooking as the stew comes with already cooked beef plus vegetables, to which some broth is added and boiled again. This was the first time that I (and my guest) felt such a repulsive aroma from beef, very much like such smell from stale or twice cooked pork and chichen. The Pyung-Yang style cold noodle was okay. But, per my guest, it's not really the right way of doing the Pyung-Yang style cold noodle... Very disappointed with the place. I am now more skeptical about the Michelin rating as well...

Korean friend took me here for real Korean food. So far I love their food but cold noodle seems not my style. Hehe 👍😋

Overall a good place to eat North Korean cuisine. Traditional food. A very big restaurant with many tables and private rooms. Quality of the ingredient is good. Located in an office area of Seoul.

Partly beautiful interior. The food must also be good. Far from it. This was the most boring soup I've ever had. Galbitang is usually a very tasty meaty soup. Here it tastes like a soup from supermarket with small amount of way too hard meat. Very disappointing for a lot of money

Super good and the price is totally worth it. The beef is very soft and juicy, vegetables are fresh and soup taste brilliant.

Delicious beef ribs soup (갈비탕) as well as the side dishes, also they have interesting interior. However, waitress was not as kind as in other places I visited. The beer and soju are more expensive than usually in Korea.

Don't order the spicy noodles, the main menu is the cold nengmyun. Chewy noodles with cold broth. The taste is unlike other cold noodle places and hard to describe. The previous presidents liked it and so did I. I asked for more broth and it was free of charge.

It would have been much better if this restaurant provided a detailed menu with photos for english speakers. Otherwise I recommend they consider hiring English speaking staffs. Nonetheless, it was worth visiting here to taste a spicey soup with beef and vegetables as well as the authentic cold noodle originated from North Korea.

Super! Reminds me of naengmyun I used to have in Korea as a kid with my grandpa. Hard to find such an authentic/old fashioned soup & noodle nowadays, so understandable why they're so popular. Staff were a mixed bag: one was super lovely, another was a bit more of what Koreans might call ahjumma service (more upfront & direct). Unlike other reviewers though, wouldn't say the service was bad at all... Solid 5/5

Can't understand how it won Michelin Awards for last 5 years and this year. Wasted my trip to look for this restaurant. Really bad. Bad service too

The naengmyun was solid. The broth was a little light and the noodles could’ve been chewier. The 육수 (warm broth) that they provide on the side was great and had a nourishing feel. The 깍두기 (radish kimchi) was awesome! The galbi tang was my favorite. Great broth and tender meat was a great combo.

Good Korean food at reasonable prices considering the location. The staff is very helpful, providing you with the necessary advice on how to eat the dishes (not a given). The facilities are nice, toilets are clean, and we were happy. The only issue is that they close a bit early. We were in at a Saturday and they closed down at 9 pm.

First of all it is North Korean Food Restaurant and so not able to taste Seoul. Second, most of the foods are very weak, flat and thin. I have no idea if the soup is really boiled for a long time or just put the meat in and put it out after that. Believe it is a valuable place / restaurant coz it’s been here for a long time but not really my taste.

Don't be fooled by the fame. There are so many good restaurants nearby. Bulgogi was very hard and dry. Jeon was OK. Cold noodle was not recommendable. Kind staffs and oldies but goodies interior are not enough to justify the heavy bill.

We only tried the cold noodle and steam beef. Highly recommended to eat the cold noodle with the vinegar. Try the special sauce if you can take Wasabi!

Terrible. I am a big lover of namyeong in all its varieties and have tried many restaurants both in the US and Korea. The namyeong here tasted like the dried ones are boiled again as opposed to fresh ones and the soups/sauces are incredibly flat. I can make better namyeong than this which is saying a lot. Recommend to avoid it.

This is one of the oldest North Korean style restaurants in Seoul. Loaded with history and character it is must for anyone doing a food tour for Pyongyang style nengmeon -cold noodle soup. It is relatively bland yet complex which is typical of the style. Michelline recognized for many years and visited by every living President of Korea.

I am a big fan of this. Even I visited so many restaurants serve the Pyoungyang c9ld noodle, it is best.

This was by far worst restaurant in my 1 week stay at nearly hotel. I didn't give it 1 star because restaurant was clean and staff were ok. It is supposed to be nangmyeon specialty place and supposedly Michelin starred. We ordered 2 types of nangmyeon and galbi tang. It was underwhelming at best. I got better nangmyeon on store bought instant nangmyeon. Portions were tiny, noodles small fist-sized. I guess that didn't matter as my daughter took one bite mul nangmyeon and refused to eat further. Soup was Pyongyang type which is more bland of regional flavor as I understand it, but it felt like just water and salt bland. Cost was also way higher than typical nangmyeon should be. My daughter questioned how this could be Michelin starred. We were so hungry after leaving there that we went to another restaurant and had much better meal at less than half the cost.

Nampo Myeonok is a Korean restaurant famous for Pyongyang cold noodles. Selected as Bib Gourmand by the Michelin Guide Seoul. Bulgogi and Boiled meat platter(어복쟁반) are delicious.

You can taste authentic North Korean style noodles here. At first I didn't know why this restaurant has so many good reviews but I think I know why now. I would definitely recommend it if you haven't tried NK food.

Cold noodle soup has a unique and subtle tinge of sourness and savoury.
