Kaitoke Hot Springs Track and Aotea Track

Tourist attraction Hiking area

👍 Easy, nice walk to the hot springs. Springs are natural, not curated and not big. 6 people max in the main area of the stream. Take care-it is a geothermal spring so temperatures are not moderated and can get VERY hot. People often mention walk,

1 hour walking, flat and easy. If you want more privacy you have to walk to the left and you will find nice hot springs. I did not dive into the water as it does not look safe (for me), there may be a lot of insects and the smell is very strong (because the sulfur), but it is beautiful just to see it!

Lovely hike through an interesting ecosystem to a series of hot pools ranging from tepid to scalding...choose carefully. And before entering the trail thoroughly wash your boots!

Great morning 3.5hr return walk and bath in Kaitoke hot springs. This walk is a pleasant reasonably flat meander along a well constructed pathway around the largest wetland area on Aotea Great Barrier Island. Eventually ending up at picturesque picnic spot where two geothermal streams meet. The was plenty of seating present, a picnic table, a doc toilet and a number of different access points to the water up either stream. We'll worth the walk up to see and bath if you are on the island and have a morning or afternoon free.

Beautiful track, 40min flat walk to the hotsprings, nice views of the swamp, sheltered by trees on a sunny day. Loved this track, abit disappointed when arriving to the hotsprings because it was very shallow and warm due to the heavy rainfall the night before.

Easy 45 minute walk up a track that leads to a sweet little hot spring pool with a picnic table and some other seating. Lovely water in the morning when it hasn't been disturbed too much. 5 more minutes easy stair and track climb up to the lookout at the top for a worthwhile view of the surrounding area.

Flat walk in from the road. Water temp is pretty good but might be a bit hot on a hot summers day to enjoy. Lots of leaves and silt at the bottom so you'll get a bit dirty bit easy to rinse off. 1 picnic table and a couple of chairs at the site.

30 to 40 minute walk to the springs. Well maintained easy grade track. Deep pools to soak in. Must do activity on Great Barrier Island.
