This store is great, friendly staff and well stocked especially considering how hard and expensive it is to get anything sent to the Barrier. When we were over last, we were told there are barely any freight barges over the busiest period so they have to be able to somewhat predict the season before it happens so they can have most of their ordering done well in advance. All the basics were available throughout the summer as well as several specialty items. Bread arrived most days on the plane. Staff are super friendly and always go out if their way to help. They gave a lot of information on walking tracks and helped us track down the rental car we'd booked.

Unfortunately we were served by a very rude lady. She didn't even look up while scanning our $170 worth of shopping, which took a little while. A smile or any kind of interaction was out of the question. I am not sure if she was having a bad day or if she is always like that but she should have stayed at home. If we had any other option I would have told her to keep her produce and gone shopping somewhere else.

Great little general store and let us charge up our power banks while we went for a nice walk that they recommended.

Read negative reviews and found the ladies at the shop to be very friendly offering helpful local knowledge and great service and to top it off, old school burgers made by another friendly lady to complete a lovely experience. If people expect to buy goods at city prices they shouldn't leave the city. Thanks Fitzroy!

Port Fitzroy store is an oasis! I was so impressed with the variety of fresh produce and supplies, alcohol selection, and local products. The staff were friendly and helpful and although remote, the careful selection of quality products for this friendly community will keep me coming back again!

Fitzroy General Store is always an interesting experience. The people are helpful and friendly even when harassed. The ferries no longer visit the wharf so the Store has to wait for the truck to bring their ordered goods 40kms by road from the ferries to Tryphena. So don't expect everything to be in stock every time but enjoy a second visit. That said, the Store does very well at maintaining a surprising variety.

Well stocked shop, with bread, fruit/veges, ice creams and bottle store. They do well to keep most things in stock, considering the freight issues they have to deal with, esp over Xmas/NY period. Lovely people willing to help out. Would be great if they could post a phone number or VHF channel to call on, so boaties can check if they are open, have veges, bread or whatever, before coming into the port, as it’s a lot of hassle to come in if what you need isn’t there. Thanks 🙏

The Fitzroy store is poorly managed and the prices are outright thievery, a store that runs out of the most basic stores like milk and bread! during the peak time of summer holidays so come well stocked to see you through your stay and then no need to feed the legal thieves, previous owners/managers were pretty good but the new management has got it wrong, very wrong so we are off to Coromandel to get supplies (yes that's how expensive Fitzroy is) and we will finish the holiday in Coromandel.
