👍👍 Another hidden gem along the forgotten coast. The center's exhibits and trails are free to visit and there is a ton to learning to be had here. An older Floridian stopped us at the end of the boardwalk, where the river meets the sea, to tell us that this is real Florida- no high-rises, just natural... People often mention kids, walk,

Another hidden gem along the forgotten coast. The center's exhibits and trails are free to visit and there is a ton to learning to be had here. An older Floridian stopped us at the end of the boardwalk, where the river meets the sea, to tell us that this is real Florida- no high-rises, just natural beauty along the coastline. Spotted some eagles and turtles. Bathrooms and gift shop on site. Free parking too.

We were looking for something to do other than the beach and our entire family loved this place. The kids really enjoyed seeing everything and learning about the different plants on the walk. Do the entire walk, it’s not long and the gift shop had a some cute little stuff for the kids.

Excellent and informative walk through some natural Florida coastal wetlands followed by aquarium exhibits and historical information about the area. The overarching theme of the importance of the Apalachicola estuary and its fragility serve an amazing experience.

So glad we found this 'hidden' gem! We were visiting Carrabelle and one of the store owners in town told us about this place. We decided to take the kids for a visit. So much to look at and the kids loved seeing the different tanks with fish, turtles, etc. We will definitely do the nature walks when we come back in warmer weather. Very informative and all the fossils and shells were really cool to look at. Best part, it is free!! They could charge a few bucks and i would still visit again.

Small center packed with information and a few aquariums, all of the aquariums are very low so kids can easily see. This is definitely a shorter excursion than most, but it is definitely worth it. The best part is that it is free. Don't forget to support the center if possible, I would recommend donating before you leave.

When I visited this place the aquarium tanks were out of service due to a hurricane, but it was still a good visit. There are a lot of interesting things to look at. There is some very neat taxidermy. I’m sure it would be even better if I got to see the aquatic life.

This was such a neat excursion for our family today. The exhibits were very informative but with lots of colors for the kids. Our favorite part was the center room that had fossils, bones, 100s of shells, etc. All labeled and available to touch and explore! It was so neat! It is free. The nature trail walk was nice...hot but nice..And we loved the laminated trail guides about the trees with guides labeled along the trail! We highly recommend it!

Clean facilities, nice walking trails and helpful staff. The view of the Bay is breathtaking. The Visitor Center is well designed and the restrooms are well maintained. Can buy sodas and has an elevator to get to the top floor for people with limited mobility.

Fun place to go. Good to do on a rainy day it's all indoors. Lots of things to look at in here can easily take up 1-2 hours of time. There is a small gift shop area by the front desk with shirts/plush animals/books/and other small misc items. The staff are nice and the inside is very clean. Clean bathrooms. Everywhere here is wheelchair accessible, Theres an elevator up the platform to the main building, bathrooms are decently sized and there is a big stall with a sink as well, and inside of the building there is lots of floor space.

This is an amazing place if you want to get away from people. You can only reach it by boat or canoe. There are several trails and at the east and west ends, there are primitive campgrounds. If you want to be away from people for days, this is the place to go to.

A nice little center with some trails to walk through. It was a bit difficult to find the elevator as it was kind of under the building. It wasn't too crowded inside and the trails were boarded so I was able to easily take my rollator on it (we did the one 400 foot path to the water, I don't remember the name of it). Inside there is a large number of items you can touch and examine yourself which was great. There was also a cute and friendly cat on the trail! Give it a pet if you see it!

A great building structure displaying the history, impact, and current status of this wonderful American estuary. Live wildlife is viewable for the three parts of this environment (river, estuary, and gulf). You can take strolls thru the estuary on well designed wooden walkways, including a path to the Gulf Bay. A video documentary in a small theater is worth your time.

My husband and I came in a couple weeks ago and we had a very wonderful time. Even though this is a small facility that has a tremendous amount of information, make sure you watch the video. We were really thankful for the volunteer Maranda. She was very helpful and knowledgeable she answered all of our questions with real answers. We will definitely be back.
