What could go wrong on a three hour tour? Remember the SS Minnow? You truly need a full day to walk the island, but the shuttle drops off at 9:30 and picks up at 12:30. Bring backpacks full of sun screen, bug spray and water for a true all day hike. Mosquitos are swarming and VERY hungry so spray down. You will be walking through a tropical jungle that reminds you of Jurassic park meets treasure island. It's very hot and humid, and the terrain is flat. But if the only exercise you get is walking in the mall, you're gonna have difficulties. Don't forget that the time zone change is near this area, and depending where you are coming from, you might end up an hour late to catch the 5 minute shuttle ride across the bay. This review is for the weekend tourist looking for a break from the beach ( oddly enough). Anyone who is really into nature, flaura and fauna, will probably love it.

I enjoyed exploring a small part of the island in November. I saw a Cottonmouth and a few birds and the flora is really incredible. Took the boat across for $20. Came back on the beach and there are a lot of shells and it’s cool to observe island with no development. Conservation benefits the local economy and can help mitigate climate change and inspire ecological literacy.

You ride 30A to get here. The power company has made a horrible sight Killing the trees and wildflowers under the power line that already 50ft tall!!! Why make such a sight on such a beautiful drive....or was a beautiful drive. We live at Cape San Blas and go alot on 30A to Appalachicola. Makes me sick!!!# Last year during this time flowers bloomed here ....not This Year. What happened to their cutting machines and mowers they had!!! What kind of chemical did they fill our clean air with. With Round Up Maybe giving us cancer.....already lost one case....Why spray here??

The shuttle service was OK, but during this season was only from 9 until noon which is too short a time to walk the island. The flora was stunning. We cut over to the beach and collected many varieties of shells. A pod of dolphins were sighted in several different locations. Overall it was a good experience.
