I know because I bought from the internet and they're expensive and they come dying. All of their coral... People often mention fish, store, great, tank, selection, corals, prices, staff, sell, water,

TRUST ME! This place is Fantastic. Great exotic corals and fish that are sold for hundreds of dollars on the internet, but they sell it for ridiculously inexpensive prices...really affordable. I know because I bought from the internet and they're expensive and they come dying. All of their corals and fish are healthy TRUST ME. I bought a lot of them and they opened 6 months ago and I have been there from day one. COLORS ARE RIDICULOUSLY BEAUTIFUL. I'm originally from So. Cali. and I've been in the hobby for over 22 years and I'm 35 now. I've been to wholesalers and fish stores and have seen the most amazing colored corals you won't believe, but once I moved to NC I couldn't find anywhere, which sold exotic beautifully colored corals. They were all the same all over the place and they sold me dying corals at very expensive prices...I won't mention the store, which recently sold me dying corals and they have been for years to me and beginners...Now, I'm not an expert at this hobby even though I've been in this hobby for a very long time, I'm still learning a lot about corals, but when corals start dying always stop buying from them and report them to BBB. Now Fintastic doesn't sell dying things, if things go wrong it has to be your water quality, but you know what, I've been in there and they're SUPER NICE and they really HELP PEOPLE to get their water quality back on track. They really will I heard them talking to customers multiple times, while I was viewing their coral tank. David, Kevin, and Jeff are the owners, they're what I call them the 3 Musketeers. Now, I know them by name because like I said I've been going their from day one and I got hooked. I'm sure you will to. They will never force you to buy something, lie, nor sell you anything sick. Just like my first words were to this post 'TRUST ME'! DON'T FORGET TO COME BACK TO TERIYAKIN'!

I told them I recently setup a 20 gallon water box. They questioned me on if my water parameters were correct, I didn’t know the correct numbers I go by the colors on the API reef masters test kit chart. They treated me I like I didn’t know what I was doing it was very belittling. I ended up going to the fish room and was treated very well and bought what I needed and a fish. I went home and retested my water parameters and everything was just fine as I knew they were. I wasted an hour driving to fantastic aquariums I will never step foot in that shop again.

The store is nothing less than amazing, and the workers are wonderful and it's clear they care about their fish more than just making money. They make sure the tank you have is big enough for the fish you would like to get. I will definitely be coming back. Thanks for everything you guys keep up the great job.

The only salt water shops with 1.) Excellent fish selection 2.) Corals and 3.) The owner who is knowledgeable about the hobby. Takes the time to know his customer and makes recommendations for your tank.

So unwelcoming atmosphere I do not know whether this is call the act of hatred or discrimination but the staffs are often lying to me about the prices few times higher than usual to either stop you from buying or buying with a extraordinary high price. They never have the price tags displayed on. I guess they will name theirs pricse after their feeling Be aware!!!!!!

Great staff! Great everything! I could not afford anything there, but I knew that coming in. This store is great and I hope to be a costumer in the future. Also none of the fish were abused like in pet smart.

Amazing customer service! I left this store about 30 minutes ago. My wife, kids and I were asking the workers a million questions. The guys here are enthusiastic and helpful. Wish I could say that about another fish store in the area. I’ve decided this is where I’ll be getting my fish. Thanks guys for making my new venture into owning a saltwater tank an enjoyable, learning experience!

Went today with a couple friends to check out the store and get my buddy a new fish for his salt water tank. The staff was very friendly, knowledge, and helpful. They had a wonderful selection of healthy fish at very reasonable prices. They also had a great selection of both soft and hard Coral.

I have been going to this store for a very long time and always noticed it was quite sketchy, but they had a few good items to purchase. I continued going here like normal and had picked up a few sketchy interactions with one of the staff. I thought this was an “ok” go to fish store until a recent experience I had. I was interested in buying a sand sifting starfish however they only had 1 left in stock. One of workers checked it out and we both agreed it wasn’t looking too great to buy . Another staff member took the starfish completely OUT of the water to it to air which can kill a starfish that small. Exposing a starfish to air any amount of time can trap air bubbles in the starfish which can kill it. She then proceeded to say it was fine to buy this starfish. I obviously did not buy this starfish. I think you guys have a great selection but please be careful with delicate animals like starfish.

This is a great little shop with good prices. Beautiful corals and selections of detritus cleaners for tank maintenance. Not a large showroom for fish but the tanks were very healthy and their relationships with suppliers give them an edge over competition for frags. snails, and invertibrates. They're doing a good job with their mangrove filter beds as well.

Horrible experience talked down on customers. Wouldn’t come back with the lack of respect they have for the people that come into their establishment. Their saltwater fish selection was fair, but definitely saw some that looked sick. Recommend other local aquarium shops in the area that have far better customer service and way better fish selection that look healthy.

Great prices, good staff, nice selection. Minus one star because Jeff is the worst to talk to.

They have a great selection of both corals and fish! Everyone there has been very friendly and more than happy to answer any question you have and genuinely want to help you and your tank do well!

David and his team did a great job moving a 100 gallon established reef tank to my home. They worked for 12+ hours to make sure everything was up and running before leaving for the night, and gave me their cell numbers in case any problems came up. Tank looks great less than 12 hours later. They obviously care about the animals and spent a lot of effort to protect my home as well. I will be shopping there for my livestock moving forward. Highly recommend!

I've been shopping at this store recently and it's been great. They have an excellent selection of fish and corals and the staff are very kind and helpful. EDIT: In my original review, I had thought the store treated their sell tanks with sub-therapeutic levels of copper, given the swift demise of a Flame Angel I bought from them. After calling the store for clarification, I learned that they only use copper whenever an issue is detected. However their sell tanks DO fluctuate salinity. The Flame angel's sell tank had a salinity of 1.015 gravity, whereas I keep my tank at 1.025. That's a quite large difference and the poor Flame just could not deal with my 45 minute acclimation. I realize it was my fault for not asking about the salinity/parameters of the sell tank. I had assumed it was in a common range of 1.020-1.026. That being said, I feel like the Fintastic should've warned me that the sell tank had a current salinity well out of normal range. However, after speaking with the owner, they offered a heavily discounted price of any new fish. Even though I might not take up the offer soon (since my current display tank is full), I appreciated the apologetic sentiments and the effort to make things right. And this is in-line with my other positive experiences with the store. Therefore, I'm amending my review to five stars. Not everything goes perfectly but the response is what matters the most.

Wonderful staff. One of the employees, Luke, was very helpful and seemed to be tending to everyone's needs while keeping the shop in order simultaneously! I was feeling anything but 'salty' when I left!

Went in last weekend after deciding to get an old Biocube i had in storage for a while back up and running. Last time I maintained a reef was 7 years ago, and last time a started a reef about 10. Things have CHANGED! The staff at Fintastic was over the top helpful and gave what i consider to be sound advice. The staff really went above and beyond and were super pleasant to deal with. The displays were clean, everything looked maintained. I cant say enough good, they have earned all of my business here forward. Thanks!

Came in today for the first time. I live in Burlington but read great reviews online so I had to check it out. Jeff was awesome. Extremely knowledgeable and super friendly. Nice variety of clearly well kept fish and coral. Absolutely worth the visit and glad to see Raleigh has a first class salt store. Keep up the great work and thanks again!

Good selection of fish and coral. However, they have a very odd pricing display system- they print out the pages with pictures of the fish and tape it to the wall from eye-level down to the floor. Very strange and inconvenient if one doesn't know the name of a fish and they have to walk back and forth to try and match the picture/find the price.

Small shop, a little hard to find, but WELL WORTH THE EFFORT!!! Great selection, very knowledgeable staff and and good prices. We drive 1.5 hours and pass 3 other stores to go to this one. Do yourself a favor and visit this store!!

I went there today (based on a reference), and there were decent prices but their tanks were pretty underwhelming... Couple little niceties, but didn't see anything worth buying. There were also some people standing outside (including employees) one of which had really dead face and bad vibes and was open carrying a fire arm. Not really what i want to be around at the fish store. Edit: I have to make a fair shake at this store and say that the subsequent visit or two was actually pretty nice. They have since gotten a better looking stock and they have not had the loitering they had previously. I have not purchased fish or coral only shelf products.

👍👍 I am a newer hobbyist and have been shopping at this store for the last 6 months. The store owner and employees have always been polite and respectful. I feel like they have gone above and beyond when I come to the store with 50 questions and they give me honest answers and opinions without upsell...
