Been here in December 2011, right after the Syrian revolution had started. We didn’t know it until we arrived at a hotel in Aqaba and had a chance to watch a tv news. There were many Syrian refugees. I met some of them, about four family of approximately 30 people arrived on a bus. They couldn’t afford a Hotel so they just stayed on a bus all night. We couldn’t communicate with each other, but I could understand how desperate they were. It’s been almost 9 years, but I still think of them and wish they return to their home safe and unharmed.

One of the best places to set and chill in Aqaba... I recommend ordering a cup of take away tea from one of the cafeterias at the squar and setting at the boats deck watching sunset

Nice plaza with a great view of the red sea, and all along there is a nice broad-walk if you like to take a stroll with the locals. In the plaza itself, there is not much to be seen except for the giant flag, but the sunset from there is pretty nice

One of the main attractions in Aqaba, it can be overcrowded depending on the time and date, from here you can take a glass boat for a tour in the sea (45min should cost around 25 jd depending on the season and your skills) some people come here for fishing as well... There are some coffee shops and basic snacks kiosks

A lovely plaza, quiet and peaceful, commemorating the Arab Revolt against the Turks. Interesting history with the sixth largest freestanding flagpole in the world!

Old bathroom, old beds, old curtains and bad cleaning. There were loud building noises from the opposite in the middle of the night.

It's nice place to be but not during the day hours because of the high temperature. Restaurants and coffee shops available there

The plaza has a few restaurants and coffee shops that are really close to the sea, like a few steps only. Recommended to visit early in the morning to avoid crowds and noise.

Great public space with good quality coffees and restaurants. However, the public area has no shade. Around the flag mast there are a circle of steps which people can set around on the steps and chill out, but with no shade at all except at the coffees. The mast can be easily used to hang sail shades for people to enjoy...but... Don't miss the ice cream shop it's great. And please visit the castle, it's really really preserver well.

Free entry .. nice and clean place to spend some time with sea view and the Arab Revolt Flagpole in the middle, there is a good collection of restaurants to have a meal or just to buy coffee.

A nice spot for pictures but unfortunately most of the stores are vacant and the others were closed.
