We visited this Aqaba Bird Observatory somewhat early in the morning and not exactly the right season to optimally experience the best that it offers. The manager there was very helpful, friendly, and enthusiastic to assist and explain and even walk us around the site. We reach was provided a binocular after paying a $7 JD admission ticket. Be sure you bring either your passport or your Jordan Pass because there is an army checkpoint about a quarter a mile before the observatory entrance, due to its close proximity to Eilat, Israel bordering city.

The place is full of birds but there are no facilities or signs explaining what kind of birds and fauna can be seen. In addition, there are exposed pipes and the maintenance is poor. The border with Israel is very close and the military came twice to ask us who we were, disturbing us and driving away the birdlife. Nevertheless, I saw some beautiful birds of prey, a kingfisher and colourful bee-eaters. In short, a place with great potential but badly managed. A word of advice: create a clear path, put up informative signs, clean the path and tell the military not to disturb the bird watchers

I have never seen so disgusting place. It is not nature place, it is waste treatment plant. It smell like sewerage, trucks everywhere. Very unprofessional ticket seller - first he let us go inside and say nothing, just sit in his office - and after we immediately return to our car, because that place was terrible and no birds were in that smelly drain - he he was forcing us to buy a ticket. It was pretty expensive for so dirty place, but ok, our mistake we didn't know about it. But that guy tried to sell already used ticket to us. Never again. Be aware of that place. Maybe there are some birds in right time during the year, but that place is awful.

This is hands down my favorite place in Aqaba. I didn’t know what to expect when I went there but the experience was just amazing. The tour guide Mohammad was so great and we had a really good time.

The facility and staff are very well equipped to receive the migrating birds within their natural course without intervening. I highly recommend visiting this facility especially by locals and schools.

I had a good time at the bird observatory. I was there all by myself and had all the time in the world. When going there, you’re driving through a checkpoint, since it’s close to the border. Just make sure to bring your passport. I saw a lot of cool birds that I really wanted to see while in Jordan. I was here in 2nd of January and saw: flamingo, Palestine sunbird, African green bee-eater, wigeon, spotted redshank, laughing dove, white-spectacled buulbuul and some more! If you’re a fanatic birder, it’s definitely worth a visit!

Even though the gate was open, the office was closed. We still had a look inside and it wasn't maintained at all. Looks like it has been closed and forgotten. Really sad! :(

We went for bird watching in Ayla golf area leading us was Mr Frias Rahahleh, we finished the tour and went to the observatory, to see the birds before sunset. The information were rich and we saw variety of birds. I hv seen on TV some of them so it was really nice to see them in real life. It was really well worth the trip.

For people who like this hobby, the place is amazing but you should know which seasons to visit to get the most out of this experience and be prepared with your ID for checkpoints on the way. Enjoy the wilderness and don't hesitate to ask any of the guides there about anything.

It's a nice place. You can see different kind of birds and flamingoes. At the entrance you will get binoculars included in the entrance. Entrance fees: 1 JOD for Jordanians, 7 JOD for other nationalities. Today I called before visiting, and we were informed that 2 big pools out of 4, were dried for maintenance reason, however it didn't stop us to enjoy the walk!

👍👍 Been here in December 2011, right after the Syrian revolution had started. We didn’t know it until we arrived at a hotel in Aqaba and had a chance to watch a tv news. There were many Syrian refugees. I met some of them, about four family of approximately 30 people arrived on a bus. They couldn’t af...
