A fantastic place to visit for snorkeling and swimming. No entry fee, and there shades and benches available. There is also Public toilets there. Just be aware when snorkeling. Stay within the marked area, outside those areas have sea urchins and you can really get hurt by them. The coral life is amazing. Amazing variety of fish.

Was a great experience and very surprisingly, since we booked the tour to Wadi rum and than we also had the chance to do the snorkeling before heading to the desert!

Snorkeling and Scuba,.. All Aqaba Dive sites and worthy of diving and also many are great snorkeling sites. I have been diving Aqaba since the late 1980's and it still excites me to dive there. Go and sea the great wonders if the underwater environment, but please please please do not touch or break the Corals, they are an environmental treasure that belongs to us and the next generations

The beach is nice with sun umbrellas. The sand is average considering the amazing sand dunes the country has in other places. The amenities (toilets and showers) are ok with Turkish style toilets but hot water in the shower. Snorkeling is average close to the beach.

Recently I went to South Beach near Aqaba in Jordan, not even knowing about the Japanese Garden. The beach was almost entirely empty and I enjoyed that very much. While sunbathing, Ayesh, a snorkeling instructor, approached me offering his snorkeling equipment to rent for exploring the nearby coral reef. What a surprise it was to find out about this special coral reef right there within my reach. I’ve never seen underwater vistas before in my life so it was very tempting. There was a big obstacle though… I’m a very weak swimmer… I mentioned this to Ayesh and he offered me his help. Step by step he explained how and what I need to do. He showed me hand signs for communication under water, in case I panic. He also offered me a life jacket which I didn’t take because he made me feel very safe swimming next to him while he was watching over me. He then showed me all the amazing things that were there for you to see, making sure I didn’t miss anything. It was my first time snorkeling ever and I liked it so much I ended up going for another round again and again with Ayesh’s assistance. I never thought that such a weak swimmer like I am could have this unforgettable experience of seeing a coral reef in real live... When the sun was starting to set Ayesh recommended that I should go snorkeling one final time to see different sea creatures that come out in the early evening at dusk. Ayesh knows that corral reef very well. I saw a Lion Fish, eels and many other colorful fish and plants. If you ever find yourself at the South Beach in Aqaba, Jordan, look for Ayesh near the area with beach umbrellas. He has snorkeling equipment for rent and will show you the Japanese Garden and other beautiful sights even if you are a weak swimmer like me.

Best place for snorkelling, a lot of pretty fish and coral... very shallow water just from the beach. There is an elderly man called Mohammed around at the beach (south of the parking lot) that you can rent snorkel from, way cheaper than from scuba companies. These companies are also available at the other side of the parking lot (north) if you also want to rent wetsuit or finns. We went on a weekday in February and it was not crowded at all. I would recommend swimming shoes because it's very rocky and painful at the shore!

This was surprising snorkelling experience on the shores of Jordan. It is easy to access (by car), there is free parking, free showers and bathrooms for changing of clothes and friendly people. The garden start already in depth of knee(!) and you can explore the beauty of sealife just 15-20 meters from the shore. You see all kind of fishes, corals and different kinds of sea urchins on and under the corals. Local people had picnic at the beach, so this is also good option if you have plenty of time. Unfortunately no personal photos to add, but Google and you see...

Honestly I expected more from the snorkelling experience in Aqaba. Wasn’t worth it, would probably recommend anyways to call a snorkelling agency in town and not the one on the beach. Low quality masks and shoes.

Love this place! I've seen larger and more colorful coral reefs. Reefs here are still growing, and with the fish homes placed there, I'm sure it will look great within a few years.

Reference to Japanese garden, not agency. Very nice for snorkeling. You can come by car and park for free. You can swim there without any agency or boat.

Photos don't give this place enough justice. What marine life and underwater views I saw, I did not find in the shots after. Loved this as my first dive!

Mediocre. Here’s a good and bad: Good The experience is nice. Fish are lovely and coral is plentiful. Route is safe and easy. Shady seats on and next to the beach. Toilets are fine. Bad Stones on the entry to the sea make it very uncomfortable. Not enough life vests for our group. No sun beds available. No good or drinks available. Bit disorganised. Coral is mostly bleached. Overall good for a decent little snorkel amongst the fish and coral but not the best.

The beach doesn’t look the best but water is really clear and the coral is alive!

It is a really nice beach, it is good for snorkeling and scuba. And there is a bathroom, showers, and several benches. It is a really cool spot.

Well named dive site , it's really a king of a beautiful underwater garden , flourishing corals and pinnacles offering protected shelters for schools of Goldfish and Damsel fish as well as Lionfish , easy to access from shoreline.

It's one of if not the best coral reef in Aqaba that you can swim to within 5 min. Easy to access astonishing colors, Highly recommended in the morning times

Very beautiful place. It is like on TV. Thousands of fish, nice corals. Be careful - it is a great place for snorkeling, not for having fun and normal swimming in the sea. You also better watch your steps because there's stonefish that can hurt you badly.

Went with the diving company Red Coral Dive Center, really good recommendation about them aswell! The japanese garden and surroundings are very nice to sea, good for at least 4-5 dives (a ship/tanker, airplane, tank and more can be found here! Very cool to see those things in the water! Sight was about 20+ meters, the water had a nice temperature of 24°C!

Totally recommended for snorkeling. A snorkeling company took me to the spot by boat and I really loved connecting with nature

  • 5/5 Josef K. 2 years ago on Google
Mostly scuba divers to see here. Also very accessible for snorkeling, because the place is close to the beach. Please be careful of corals. Not because they are poisonous. These beings grow by only 0.5 mm each year.

😠 Sad, sad, sad. Dead fish in the tanks, a lonesome seaturtle, a crocodile in a caged area 3x3 meters. Fish were dead in tanks and the tanks that did look good were too full. They should empty all the tanks back into the sea and close this place, this is not an aquarium, it's a place of torture for f...
