Aqaba Fort

Castle Fortress

👍 Very nice beach side fortress, with a free entrance. It has been renovated in some areas and there was some work still being done, but it is a very nice place to check the history of this red sea coastal city. I recommend going during the sunset for amazing colors. People often mention Aqaba, nice, entrance, visit, fort, fortress,

Just a Ok Ok place .. not so interesting I mean form my view .. it is near the beach facing sea side .. there is a big construction ongoing in that area which makes it more venerable..

I am so into historical places, if you have extra time to spend go ahead and visit the fort but it is quite empty, I don’t recommend taking time out of your schedule just to go see it.. 10 minutes is more than enough to see the whole area!

A very nice, originally Crusader fortress in the center of Aqaba near the waterfront. A large mast with the flag of the Arab Revolt stands nearby. The area itself is quite small, a visit will not take more than half an hour. The entrance is free with the Jordan Pass, but no one checked it with us.

An important part of the history of the city and the country. Free entrance. You can discover and walk around by yourself without problem. Maybe the most cultural thing to visit in Aqaba

The history of Aquba, Jordan is amazing. You can feel the past while you are walking up to the tower in the fort or step in the hanging up room where many people has been hang up. You can touch the 500 years old mosque and carpets. There is only rocks and desert in Jordan but their history is incredible.

Nice free historic fort, also known as Mamluk Castle, just minutes from major hotels and downtown shops! Come bring the family and learn about the significance of this fort, dating back to 16th century, which was initially built as a 'khan' or inn for Muslim pilgrims from Egypt performing 'Hajj', the annual pilgrimage to Mecca. There are multiple levels and rooms you can explore. You will need your phone flashlight for some of the darkest rooms. Watch your step and enjoy the visit!

A very beautiful archaeological tourist place, an ancient castle located in the center of the city of Aqaba in southern Jordan, specifically on the shore of the Gulf of Aqaba. This castle dates back to the end of the Mamluk era in the region, but today it has been turned into a museum. One of the prominent landmarks in the castle is the Aqaba mast, which was built in 2004 in the square adjacent to the castle to carry the flag of the Great Arab Revolt.

It draws a lot of attention!! One of the places where Lawrence of Arabia battled. It has newly renovated entrance and very easy access to it, I'd recommend coming right before sunset to enjoy the beautiful views and amazing flag!

It is a small Fort. But has many hid outs. It has many Rooms, Education Place, a well , Administration Block etc. You can see the Sea View.or Street view from the top of the mountain. There sensor installed Inside the Rooms or in Chambers . You may find lights off. But once you entered in will ON.

Simple fortress, nice view to the sea. Probably more colourful during sunset. Free entrance. When surrounding area is ready it will be a great socialising place.

A nice piece of history in the middle of Aqaba. It is in the middle of a much-needed restoration, but it's a good thing to stop and look at if you have extra time, especially because it's free. Also very quiet, if you need a break from the hustle and bustle of Aqaba :)

Interesting fort to visit and explore, but certainly doesnt require a long visit. There was some maintenance work during my visit, but it's good that they're improving the guests experience and investing time into preserving this landmark. Sadly around the outside of the fort there was a lot of rubbish, which is a shame to see.

Just some ruined fortress walls, nothing to see here. There were some works in progress, maybe they have some plans to redo the whole thing and give it more significance. There is no entrance fee, it is open to the public.

The Aqaba Fort is towards the end of Aqaba next to the large flagpole. When we went the was a man sitting in a chair at the entrance, but there was no fee and we were able to just walk in and look around. The area is interesting to see for a ruin, but not the best. There was only one other couple walking around while we were there so either it’s not that popular or perhaps people don’t like to be out seeing old ruins in 100 degree heat.

I wouldn't call this a fortress to be fair. It is more of a big house. This is probably the only thing you'll see in Aqaba so you might as well stop by. This is the only photo I took of it.

Historical site, but with strange reconstruction.

Old fort, with wooden gates, arabic inscriptions on the wall. It takes 20-30 minutes to explore the fortress
