Initially
I
was
delighted
that
JETT
ran
buses
from
Aqaba
to
Petra,
with
decent
times
for
a
day
trip.
The
cost
was
6
JD
each
way
which
was
great
for
a
tourist.
A
helpful
young
lady
got
me
a
ticket
without
too
much
trouble
(still
puzzled
by
the
need
for
a
passport).
However
the
rest
of
the
experience
did
not
live
up
to
the
standards
expected
from
a
new
bus
facility.
There
was
absolutely
no
information
on
display
anywhere
in
the
bus
terminal
nor
on
the
buses,
so
it
was
a
sense
of
chaos
and
confusion.
First,
I
was
told
to
turn
up
at
7.45
for
an
8am
bus.
No
idea
which
bus,
so
I
followed
a
crowd
to
the
bus
that
started
boarding
around
that
time.
It
took
2
people
checking
my
ticket
to
eventually
tell
me
my
bus
was
another
one,
which
just
departed,
but
fortunately
I
caught
up.
This
was
7.50am.
The
bus
then
went
round
the
corner
to
th
tourist
information
square,
picked
up
more
people,
and
headed
back
to
the
bus
terminal
again,
where
all
our
tickets
were
checked
again
and
again...
as
if
the
manager
doesn't
trust
the
bus
driver...
we
set
off
8.15.
The
lady
who
sold
me
the
ticket
said
the
journey
time
from
Aqaba
to
Petra
was
2
hours.
However
that's
for
a
normal
car.
This
bus
detours
considerably
via
the
Wadi
Rum
visitor
centre,
and
there
were
two
other
unnecessary
stops
(the
Lawrence
of
Arabia
train,
and
a
view
point
plus
shop
where
we
stopped
for
20
mins).
The
driver
was
not
in
much
hurry
and
was
talking
on
the
phone
(not
hands-free).
In
the
end
it
took
well
over
3
hours.
To
come
back,
the
bus
driver
insisted
I
should
be
back
at
3.30pm
for
the
4pm
departure.
No
idea
why.
The
bus
waited
till
4pm
to
leave.
This
means
that
I
had
4
hrs
for
my
tour
in
Petra,
not
the
5.5-6
hrs
expected.
The
driver
was
on
a
hurry
to
get
home,
so
no
stops,
but
he
was
smoking
in
the
non-smoking
bus
and
had
incidents
of
stressful
road
rage.
I
guess
this
is
part
of
the
local
experience?
