Very beautiful little church, tucked into the side of the Serbian Kalemegdan fortress. Besides the finely decorated interiors, the church is notable for two chandeliers entirely made of spent bullet casing, swords, and cannon parts. Serbian soldiers on the front line used their downtime to craft the chandeliers from the materials available to them.

At the Belgrade Fort are 2 churches. One is the Ružica Church. This means Little Rose Church. It was a weapons depot and then a military church. In WWI it was almost completely destroyed. In this church soldiers took communion. Outside of the church is a King Stefan Dusava and the other is a Serbian soldier from the Balkan War. Both were made from cannon shells. Inside there is a chandelier made from weapons such as bullets, swords, and more.

“Ružica Church”, is a Serbian Orthodox church located in the Belgrade Fortress. The original church was built in the early 15th century, while the modern one was adapted in 1869 and fully reconstructed in 1925. It is dedicated to the Nativity of Mary (the birth of Jesus mother). With its location within the fortress and water spring of Saint Petka, constant crowds of visitors especially on Saint Petka's feast day, it is considered one of the "best loved churches among the adherents". Definitely recommend stopping by while walking inside the fortress walls, especially if you can appreciate the history behind it.

Walking through Kalemegdan obligation is to visit the Church of the Holy Mother of God (Church Ruzica). Why? Because it is the oldest church in Belgrade and because it is beautiful. The rich history of this church makes it extremely interesting. According to the legend , the church was built by the sisters Ružica, Marica and Cveta. The present church was in the 18th century a weapons depot, which was 1867-1869. converted into a military church. The church was ruined by the Turks and Germans, but it was rebuilt. Outside it is enriched with two statues. One represents the Emperor Dusan, and the other warriors from the Balkan Wars. The interior of the church is richly decorated with beautiful icons. So quiet and peaceful place.

This is contained within the fortress. It's a small church covered in vines like something out of Wimbledon. Within the building there are some nice frescoes. It is worth checking out.

Amazing mosaics! Also many people go there because of health problems and you can take water (there’s no price, give how much you can) which is supposedly good for healing and health

Stunningly beautiful interior. I recommend the smaller chapel below it as well which has gorgeous mosaics. However, they do not allow certain clothing including 7 inch shorts.

Ružica Church is a Serbian Orthodox church located in the Belgrade Fortress, in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. Original church was built in the early 15th century, while the modern one was adapted in 1869 and fully reconstructed in 1925. It is dedicated to the Nativity of Mary. With its location within the fortress and water spring of Saint Petka, constant crowds of visitors especially on Saint Petka's feast day, and unorthodox appearance, it is considered one of the "best loved churches among the adherents".

One of the most beautifull and intereating Srbian Orthodox churches, I have ever seen. Beacuse, it is millitary church, make sure you bow and pay respects in front of the relics of Belgrade defenders from WW1. Pay close attention to the chandaliers, which are built from bullets, sabers and bayonets, and outside, cannon balls built in the walls of the church and statues of infrantrymen from midevil time of Tzar Dusan and WW1. Church is, must see...

Small quaint but unique! Chandeliers made from swords, left over bullet caseings, grenades and a missile. Won't take more than 5-10 mins to visit. Great way to reduce, reuse and recycle!

In my opinion this is the cutest church in the whole Serbia. The most interesting thing about this church is that inside of it there are two chandeliers made entirely of spent bullet casing, cannon parts and swords. You must visit this small church!
