Loved visiting this climbing gym! The facility was clean, the staff were very friendly and nice, and the gym itself has a good number of routes for bouldering, top-rope, and lead.

This place rocks! (Pun intended). Highly recommend booking a climbing session in advance for kids. Took my 14, 12 and 11 year old who had virtually no rock climbing experience. Tim, their guide, fitted them with shoes and harnesses and was absolutely amazing. He pushed and encouraged the kids to keep going and all three are determined to get to the next level. Great place all around

My partners and I did the intro to top roping with Felicia and she is EXCELLENT as a teacher and cheerleader. The enthusiasm they brought to the training made it less intimidating and more accessible to a newbie like me. The gym is smaller but there are plenty of climbing spaces to find the right nook. I'm looking forward to going back!

Its cool, my kid really is enjoying learning to climb. I kinda feel like if I am paying $25 for an hour ($100 per 4 week session) or so, she should get to climb more than twice a week. There are not enough coaches working the walls. In her last class there were 3 coaches (instead of 2) and one of them was sitting on the floor playing "telephone" and other games for $25 an hour. Why? There were 10 kids in that class... How are they supposed to get climbs in if coaches are sitting on the floor playing?

Mia was so awesome & made my son’s drop in birthday session extra special. She was extremely patient and helpful. Employees like that make a business successful.

Staff are friendly and easy to talk to. Everyone here is clearly passionate and love helping out newer climbers like myself. Patient with me when I bought my first aggressive climbing shoe, trying to find the perfect fit. They update the climbs monthly keeping it fresh and giving plenty of time to work on tough one. They have a bunch of monthly events and very lgbtqia+ friendly. Only downside is parking is pretty limited and cubbies to put your stuff are limited as well.

Amazing staff. I called in to ask if my very active, two year old could come in to try to climb as he is always scaling furniture at home. Over the phone, the staff was informative, kind and encouraged me to bring my son in at let him explore. Within an hour my family and I were at the gym and greeted by the very person I spoke to on the phone. The other staff was very friendly and sweet with my son. Although he didn’t climb much, he had a blast and we look forward to returning

My first time rock climbing, took an Intro to Rock Climbing class and literally every single person was amazing. I knew nothing and not only did they not make me feel stupid, but by the time I left, I knew how to belay and tie my knots perfectly! I will definitely be going back to get my belay card and to do some beginner bouldering. I can't recommend highly enough. *Their parking sucks, but not enough to dampen the outing.

I have taken my daughter there to climb a couple of times and she definitely enjoys. There are plenty of options for beginners. There are even places to work on your strength to improve your climbing, including a decent gym. The staff are usually friendly. I did have one be a little overzealous in response to a mistake my child made. Based on her approach, I wonder if she had any children. Other than that one incident would recommend for kids of all ages.

I love Movement’s location in Timonium. If you’re in the Baltimore area, you’re going to need to come here to top-rope and lead. If you want to boulder, I recommend going to their location in Hampden. The community here is amazing. Even if you don’t have a belay partner, still show up. Someone is always willing to belay and there’s tons of people there every night. The gym area is pretty limited here. Better for a quick warm up than a proper gym session.

Amazing gym and very welcoming community. My daughter (8) and I both climb there. My daughter has joined the climbing team. The coaches and staff are fantastic and really take their time with the members and kids. The people that climb there are also very kind and helpful. Everyone seems to be there to support everyone else. Definitely recommended for a one off fun experience or to become a member and enjoy the climbing lifestyle.

Great climbing gym! The staff are great, the community is the best around, and the climbs are top notch! Can't recommend it enough.

Great atmosphere, friendly community, positive environment. Variety of climbs for all ages and skill levels. Gear for sale or for rent. Nice locker space and showers. Learn on your own or get coached. CLIMB AS YOU ARE. <3

I took the into to ropes climbing class and had a blast!! I just took the intro to bouldering class at Hampden and wanted to see what ropes climbing was like. The instructor was calm and encouraging. I loved climbing up the wall. It is so different than bouldering and I felt much safer. It was still a little scary but it was also exhilarating! It’s something that definitely want to do again. The gym is small, but it seems to have everything you could want. If I lived closer I would join in a heartbeat. I just need to figure out if I will realistically go out to Timonium on a regular basis.

Great climbing gym. The bouldering space is a little smaller than I expected. But a ton of room to top rope and a separate portion for lifting weights and strengthening exercises. There's also a nice defined space for campusing.

The Good: Now, I have only been here once, but the experience was fun. The instructors were extremely nice and good at their jobs. There were a variety of climbing walls. The equipment all looked very well maintained. The Bad: I cannot think of anything. The Judgment: A fun place I would not mind going to again one day.

The bouldering area is too small and too dark. I have enough trouble identifying route beta since I'm partially colorblind, but the darkness makes it too difficult to identify beta for their overhang climbs. bad enough that my non-cb friends have some trouble with it too. The workout area is too small. The bouldering area wall geometry needs updating. Parking is pretty awful during busy hours Pro's: Kilter board (instead of tension board), route setters are good, rope area is good, upstairs training area is nice. Staff was good.

The membership fees are expensive but worth it. The gym has a lot of rock climbing routes, though mostly top rope. The bouldering grotto is a little bit small, but still very good. I personally like their top rope more, because there is more variety, especially for my friends who are new and not as good at rock climbing.

Drove all the way to find out that they are only opened after 4pm. Why?! Y’all want to keep numbers down for social distance reasons but are only open when it’s normally crowded. Every other ET opens in the AM. Follow suit. You have daytime climbers ready to join.

At Earth Treks Timonium, I always found a magnificent environment and wonderful routes for all the levels. The staff is fantastic and the music in background very cool. Great climbing gym

I climbed at Earth Treks for years and enjoyed the positive, close-knit community. However, now rebranded as "Movement", their Web site panders to "fighting systemic racism" in rock climbing, and other non-issues. Movement is now just another grandstanding, patronizing corporate entity. Really, Chris Warner, Founder? Learn from the rock, and be silent.

Horrible gym! I overheard one instructor, Lev Abramov, call my kid and several other children of color stupid and not too bright. Awful people and disgusting behavior. 0/10

Lauren taught my "Lead Climbing with an ATC" class and was amazing! A knowledgable, encouraging, and friendly teacher, she did an excellent job of explaining new concepts. She knows her stuff and seems genuinely happy to share it with others.

I've been bouldering a few years, today was my first time rope climbing. I couldn't have chosen a better place to start. The staff was friendly, helpful and patient.

I took the Intro to Ropes course as a non-member with Luis and had an amazing lesson! I now feel confident to belay and climb with a partner in the gym, even being totally new to climbing! I highly recommend, don’t be nervous to try something new!

My boyfriend and I went yesterday. The staff is very nice and we had a lot fun. We can't wait to go back.

Such good vibes. Smaller bouldering area than the other earth treks, but it has many belayed climbs and a decent weight room

  • 2/5 Mike C. 1 year ago on Google
Staff is friendly. Earthtreks and Movement have not invested any money into this place in years. The climbing walls are littered with chips, cracks and large areas of bare wood. This is dangerous, unsightly and unexpected for the high price of admission. Storage areas are extremely dusty and the overall odor of the place is getting strong. It's time to upgrade and do some basic maintenance.

The staff at this location are unlike any other!! If you’re looking for old school community feelings with your top notch setting and fun community events- this is the best gym in the area by FAR! The other gyms are good, but not like the Timonium location

Whether you want a challenge or to take your natural abilities to the next level this place has it for you on all levels. Instructors are bout knowledgeable and patient. Our first experience was unique and we can't wait to take it to new heights.

Definitely a fun experience! And that's coming from somebody who is in no shape or form a rock climber.
