A nice pit stop to get a good view of the city. The entrance is on Main Street. It’s free but make sure to bring your ID (driver’s license), you have to go through security and get a visitor’s pass. Take the elevators on the first floor to floor 22, then switch elevators to floor 26 for the observation point. Lovely view of the city and worth the visit.

The 360° observation deck on the 27th floor of the City Hall is a perfect place to see everything that is around. So is Mayor Tom Bradley room on the 26th floor it has huge portraits of every single mayor of Los Angeles. Enter through Main Street entrance and bring proof of vaccination. Then it's a quick ride on 3 different elevators up to the 27th floor.

This has to be one of the greatest city halls in the United States! This monument to the Los Angeles city government is not just an historical landmark, it’s also functional! Renovated as the main building for conducting official business in LA. On a recent visit, I was told to check back for self-guided tours, as the day to day access is subject to change, pending official city business, filming and maintenance issues. Otherwise the public is welcome on self-guided tours to the top on Monday and Thursday 8am to 5pm and on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 3pm to 5pm. I was directed to the back door security desk, where I was asked to show identification and covid cards and was given a form to fill out to continue my self guided tour. I was directed to take two separate elevators, then up a floor of stairs to the top floors which were open for viewing. There’s historical references, exhibits and spectacular 360° views from over 400’ high! Getting to the LA City Hall may be the only expense, as paid parking and public transit via city bus or Metro rail and ride services may be the way to go. I’d suggest calling the info line or checking online updates before planning to visit the building.

Completed in 1928 the Los Angeles City Hall is the tallest base-isolated (earthquake prevention) structure in the world. It’s easily one of the most famous buildings in Los Angeles, and has a ton of history attached to it. It’s very important to the landscape of American architecture and engineering. Today we visited the 27th floor, which is a 360° wraparound observation deck. You get great views of Los Angeles, and can see as far as Long Beach to the southwest and the San Gabriel Mountains facing north and east. There is also a large conference room in the middle of the observation deck that is used for important televised ceremonies. It is free entry which is amazing although you pretty much are guaranteed to have to pay for parking. We were able to find metered parking two blocks away, otherwise your best bet will be a pay lot. You have to take two sets of elevators to go to the top but it’s a quick up and down process. I would highly recommend to anyone who is visiting or lives in LA.

The observation deck has great views of the city. Be prepared to pass through security and metal detectors. You'll need to swap elevators once and still climb another set of stairs. Everyone was friendly and the view was fantastic. We were able to take pictures of the Griffith Observatory and later that day took pictures of the City Hall from the Observatory. The only downside was the parking deck is underground a block away. To get from the deck to the building you pass through a park with an assortment of homeless sleeping on the benches and in the bushes.

We parked our car at a public parking three blocks away from the City Hall. We were checked by a metal detector. Police also checked our ID. The observation deck is on 27th. It is free to go up. The views were beautiful.

Have not had the chance to be inside just yet but every time I walk past I'm always in awe. Such a beautiful building, especially when lit up! Definitely hope to someday go to the observation deck 🤞🏽

Great views of the whole city and surrounding areas. Better yet, it's free!!! I've lived in LA my whole life and I didn't know there was an observation deck, let alone that it was easily accessible and free.

One of the most important symbols of art deco architecture in Los Angeles, City Hall was the tallest building in downtown Los Angeles until the 1960s. It has served as a filming location for a multitude of productions, including Dragnet, L.A. Confidential, War of the Worlds and many more.

I just went to a Dodger game yesterday, fully open, the hypocrisy of the city to not allow THE PUBLIC, we need an appointment for city finance. Lame. I

Renovated as the main building for conducting official business in LA. On a recent visit, I was told to check back for access, as the staff were returning to normal operations soon. So I’ll relate my pre-pandemic experience here, with an update review pending. After sitting in on a City Counsel meeting, I had a look around the ornate ground floor, where a security guard directed me to the back door security desk. There I was given a form to fill out to continue my self guided tour. I was directed to take two separate elevators, then up a floor of stairs to the top floors which were open for viewing. The most iconic violet/purple historical landmark you can see from above or on an airplane. It’s a notable governmental building in Downtown LA with grand and magnificent architecture. Amazing ziggurat designs, monumental constructions and functional a skywalk bridge connecting two buildings. Lively spot for a touristy walk at the center of Los Angeles. Cleanliness, sanitation & environmental health can be improved of course. Please be mindful and safe there after sunset.

While City Hall may not have left a lasting impression, I thought I would still share some photos I captured during my leisurely stroll through the lively streets of downtown.

Great place to see the view of downtown Los Angeles and beyond, first you have to go through security then up a fast elevator then in another up another 2 floors then walk up a flight of stairs to the 27th floor where there is a 360 degree view, excellent view all round and there are boards at all 4 sides showing you what sites you are looking at, also it is free to get in so a real bonus.

Extraordinary architectural landmark in our beautiful, gorgeous and dazzling city. Sometime I hope to enter it and see the inside. I'm not sure at this point what protocol there might be to get in, but I intend to ask.

I’m reviewing city hall primarily from the architectural impact it has and not the political situation or any involvements in bureaucracy. Architecturally this is an amazing landmark and is not to be missed.

Free entrance to see the viewing deck of the city hall. There is also a portrait of all the mayors of the city. Lastly, the 3rd floor rotunda looks amazing.

I'm rating this 5 stars simply because it is pretty and photographs well. I have never been inside.
