Charming and romantic dining room decorated with player pianos, like a step back in time. Wonderful service, delicious fountain soda drinks and fresh, well-prepared food. We will definitely be back!

Very unique San Jose restaurant with European American cuisine. The building itself is quite historic, accompanied by the unique mechanical pianos, this is a fun restaurant to celebrate or for any occasion. They only open for dinner Friday and Saturday so be sure to make a reservation if you plan to dine there. The food is done well made with fresh and local ingredients. We got the sea bass, Chicken Saltimbocca, tenderloin steak, and shrimp Puttanesca. The sea bass is delicious! Flaky and buttery and light. The tenderloin steak is cooked perfectly medium rare and rich in beef taste. The Chicken Breast Saltimbocca is cooked fine but since it's breast meat, it is naturally dry. Steak knife was not provided and it was a bit hard to cut with butter knife. The shrimp puttanesca is done exactly as described. For those who eat a lot may want to choose something else that's more hearty. We also got a side of gnocchi and it was very creamy. We like the artichoke but would prefer a lighter sauce. The service is great even though you order your food and drinks at the bar. The Antique fountain drinks are a must have as well. We got the Chocolate Phosphate NY style, Poppy Dew, and Apricot Ambrosia. Chocolate Phosphate is like a chocolate cream soda. Poppy Dew is very refreshing. apricot Ambrosia fruity with almond taste.

The most quaint and charming restaurant! Delicious food, entertaining pianos, and attentive service. It feels like you’re transported back to better times. Generous portions at a reasonable price point. There are several vegan options including a great eggplant Parmesan available with advance request. The butternut Marsala pasta had a flavorful cream sauce and plenty of veggies like squash, mushrooms, zucchini. The profiteroles are crisp and light, drizzled with chocolate sauce and filled with fresh whipped cream. The self-playing pianos play delightful tunes throughout the evening. It’s like getting dinner and a show. The favorite part of the evening was definitely the drinks! The soda fountain options are creative and tasty. The apricot ambrosia is particularly good, with nice almond flavor that balances the tartness of the apricot. The best drink of the evening was the East Frisia tea service. A hot pot of Assam black tea atop a tea candle to keep it warm arrived on a silver tray with rock sugar. You place cube in the cup and then as the tea is poured over, the cube crackles like an ice cube. Assam tea is reminiscent of English breakfast.

Loved this place. Great settings and special experience. However the food still have room for improvement but definitely not complaining looking at the price they charged. And yes book a table before you go I got lucky to get a table by walking in but you definitely want to reserve in advance

Ordered sampler trio and the tenderloin was really good. Shrimp & salmon were also good but not too surprising. There are several antique pianos which play “live” music on piano rolls and music box like machines, which was pretty cool. It is amazing they can keep these century old instruments and paper rolls in such good conditions.

This restaurant has a lot of interesting character in its decor with player pianos and other musical devices that still work and play period music. It has a very historic and vintage vibe. The food was well plated and had good, layered flavors. The vegetables were cooked to perfection. The pricing was very reasonable, even with a 25% tip automatically added to the bill. The service was friendly but not necessarily attentive. This is probably by design. The customer's orders are not taken at the table. They have to go to the bar (in the back) to place the order and pay the check. This is not really efficient and can create a bottleneck during busier times. The location is suitable for those going downtown for other events at nearby theaters, the convention center, or at the Plaza de Cesar Chavez.

Essentially a museum of working player pianos and other self-playing instruments--xylophone, violin, giant music boxes and more--with an interesting restaurant. The food was quite good, we had the Austrian goulash, pear salad, profiteroles and made to order sodas--the Poppy Dew and the Cherry Sour Phosphate. I recommend everything, especially the profiteroles and the sodas. The goulash was served on great crunchy spaetzle and had a rich flavor. Seating is limited and you need to make reservations a few days ahead. The tables were close together without a lot of room to walk around between, but the atmosphere was great. Different player pianos/etc. play automatically from time to time, several are fascinating to watch. The staff is excellent. No tipping; a 14.5% service fee is automatically added. The prices were fine for the food quality. The night we were there the clientele were mostly older than 35. Definitely a unique and fun dining experience.

Mostly the food is very rich outside of just getting a bowl of the noodles with olive oil. It's good though and it's nice to treat yourself once in awhile. The music is really nice the atmosphere was great everyone was in a good mood. The server was very attentive. The owner made sure that my mom could get through in her wheelchair. I really recommend this place, it's fun!

Absolutely love this place. A unique selection of antique automated music machines including player pianos, player violins early record player jukeboxes, and more. The phosphate sodas are delicious, and the food is full of comfort. Definitely one of the most interesting dining rooms in California and well worth a visit.

The decor and atmosphere of this place are amazing. Food-wise, it was good; I just wish the sampler trio was a bit more substantial. Can't fault them on presentation though.

Very cool decorations. The player pianos were neat. A few were a bit loud, but they cycled often enough and stop here and there. They had a few vegetarian options, which we ordered. We got the gnocchi appetizer and butternut pasta. Both were pretty salty, but that is usually with restaurant food. It was okay, but nothing exceptional. They had good wines. The staff were friendly and polite.

Almost before being aware of the charm and originallity of the room, you get the warm, polite welcome of the staff. You could suddenly get surprised by the sound of an instrument right next to you... Well, that is the magic: do let it play and enjoy the atmosphere. Food I liked it, yes!

Omg this place is fantastic, date night for anyone with taste. 12 tables, reservation only, service is spectacular. All Art Nouveau lamps n decor. 12/10 and don't get me started on the food 💗 as well as the fun pianos playing by themselves early 20th century jams.

This is a very atmospheric place with European food. In addition to gastronomic pleasure, you will also get aesthetic. The restaurant houses a museum of old electric pianos that play.

I wanna give 10 out of 5 to the atmosphere if possible! Impressed by all the self play instruments, a beautiful and romantic place for a date night.

We had a delightful meal at Orchestria. The atmosphere is one of a kind and the restaurant feels magical. We arrived at 5:30, which was great, because the kids could walk around the restaurant to enjoy the different player pianos and the cuckoo clock. They accommodated our request to sit 'outside'. On top of all of that, the food was also delicious. I tried the salmon, shrimp puttanesca, and shrimp scampi. They even made a kids gnocchi with Parmesan. Fantastic atmosphere, amazing food, and top notch service!

This place is definitely a hidden gem. The restaurant was clean, open and had great service. They offered a variety of delicious, high quality and extremely reasonably priced dishes. The pianos were awesome and they were sure to rotate which ones played while we dined. We will be back!

Definitely one of the more interesting places we've gone. There are lots of old-time musical and other devices. The player pianos and other musical devices still work and play period music. I'm not sure if the popcorn or roasted peanut machines work, but I would have loved some. When we arrived about 6 PM, there were a few tables occupied, but it wasn't crowded. As we ate, the place did fill up. There's also no tipping here. They basically add 25% to the price of everything that you order, which includes tax and a 15% gratuity. Everything is priced on the menu so that each item comes to an even dollar amount after adding that 25%, which makes splitting bills very easy. Finally, you order everything at the bar in the back. They will bring what you order to your table. You also pay at the bar. Despite being a period restaurant, they do take credit cards. As for the food, it was very good. My wife started with a Poppy Dew drink, which she liked so much that she ordered another. I started with a brown cow (a root beer float with chocolate ice cream), which was also very good. For starters, I had some clam chowder, which was chunky, but just okay. My wife and I both had the nectarine salad, which we both thought was very good. For entrees, we both had the Austrian goulash with spaetzle, which was also very good. It had a slight spicy bite, but not too much. Neither of us like extremely spicy food, but we both liked this. We decided to also have dessert as they had some tempting items. Their special was key lime pie, which I love, so I ordered that. It came with strawberry preserves around it and a large strawberry next to it, and was very good. My wife ordered the banana split brulee, which she enjoyed. I also had one dark beer at $6, and the total, including the added tax and tip, was $112, which seemed a bit pricey, but not outrageous. There were other dishes in the menu that sounded good, so we'll probably go back when we find ourselves in San Jose again.

I love the atmosphere in this little place - old player pianos, Tiffany lamps, greenery.. It's perfect for dinner before going to the SJ Stage next door. The food is usually great, but the beef bourginone I had this visit was too bland. Loved the profiteroles.

Beautiful setting with old player pianos and clock-work jukeboxes. One even played violin strings. Gorgeous collection in a fabulously rebuilt garage. Menu ranges from soda-fountain treats to lush entrees. Ambience very much like a European opera-plaza brasserie. Make a reservation and take your in-laws to this place! You'll be glad you did.

One of the most unique experiences in downtown San Jose. You are surrounded by player pianos in an intimate environment that takes you back to the turn of the century. Food is quality and service is friendly. Quick tip--You order and pay at the counter.
