We made a special trip during the week to visit the park only to find out its only open to the public on the weekend. During the week, it's reservation only for large groups. 3 stars only to make this initial comment. Stay tuned for my update! 04/09/22 Finally made it back. Changing my ratings to 5 stars. Nice little hidden treasure in the middle of a suburban neighborhood in Roseville. Small, but well-done museum about the Maidu in the area and the rest of the Native American groups in California. Short easy walk to a number of petroglyph sites and numerous grinding rock areas. We enjoy finding Native American rock art and we have visited numerous rock art locations around CA, AZ, UT and NV and have hundreds of photos. The Petroglyphs here at Maidu are not that detailed or sophisticated with more of a straight-line design with some wavy, but no animals, humans or real abstract designs. Definity a cool way to spend 3 to 4 hours in a place where people had lived before estimated to be at least 8000 years ago.

First time experience and was pleased. The staff is very knowledgeable about the history of the tribes and land. It was very informative and great for the young people to educate themselves. Very clean and nice walking trails 👣

Hard to believe this is a museum. The grounds are completely covering all of the mortar sites. A small percentage is actually visible. The petroglyphs build up around it is slowly covering them. Probably a foot or so of dirt around. Seems to be no concern as to leave it the same as the natives did. Keeping it clean and open. It is a village site for sure but in no means is it being represented at the same status when it was used. Disappointed expected better viewing.

First time coming here. Parking is a bit confusing, with no designated parking lot. Unless you park in the activity area which was closed. So we had to park on the street, next to apartments. The museum is almost hidden in a sense. It's modern and not that visible besides the sign out by the sidewalk. The inside is really nice and clean. Really cool stuff, and the gentleman working the front desk was very friendly and welcomed our family. We came on a Wednesday so not that many people besides us, maybe if most 3 other families. The admission is $5 for adults. Children under 5 are free. They also have outdoor seating before you hit the walking trail. The trail is not that long, btw, nice sites as you walk. The museum is stroller friendly. As far as the trail, it can get bumpy if you take a stroller on the trail. Very small museum but a relaxing experience.

I attended as chaperone for my son's field trip. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Street parking. Recommend bringing cash in case the machine is down. We had a nature trail hike (easy and short) to learn about the natural environment (plants, food, etc). Then we toured the museum and played some games. I only wish there was more space for the kids to get their wiggles out. Also wish they talked about the poor treatment of the indigenous people (kids are in 3rs grade).

Honestly I was expecting a tiny museum and trail, but I left with an immense appreciation of what I learned and boy did I learn tons in this museum! Took me a couple hours to walk through and read everything. Super informative museum and trail walking tour, and the art exhibits (particularly the MMIW installation) were so impactful. Sure, you can't take photos, but that doesn't take anything away from the feeling you'll have when you're there and when you leave.

Interesting museum that gives a lot of facts about the local native population in Roseville. The camp fire stories are a must. All of our family really enjoyed it.

Great place for the kids. Well kept and clean. Organized, and the staff does a great job with the whole class. Brenna and Taylor were our guides today, and they did an amazing job. Answers for every question and then some. Kept the kids engaged (til they got hungry, of course), and they definitely know their stuff. Clean bathrooms and lunch area. Artwork and artifacts and activities make the place special for field trips and information.

This museum is the best place to come to link classroom learning of Native Americans to the Maidu Tribe. Great tour guides!

Spent about an hour with the family in the museum reading about the native american exhibits. There is also a short nature trail outside the museum which was really nice. I recommend this to anyone interested about the native people in California.
