I've driven past here many times on I-80 and was told these were railroad covers. I decided to take a trip up here to see them and found the China Wall and the Rainbow Bridge along the way. I walked for about an hour and didn't make it through all of the tunnels, but they are pretty neat to see. The history of the tunnels, bridge and wall are all verily interesting. There are also history signs along the road to point out significant areas of the time.

That’s the best view to the Donner lake and the whole valley, the whole highway 40 and donner pass with all history of pioneers worth to see 10 more time. Make sure the day you plan to get there the road would be open. Check my pictures please.

Awesome views of Dinner Lake and the mountains near by. There are a few view points that are a simple climb and give you an exceptional view in 360 degrees. Definitely recommend here coming early in the morning to get ahead of the crowd.

Absolutely beautiful views 🀩😍 when we got there and got out of the car, people were climbing the rock wall, walked over to the view point and it was absolutely breath taking, the bridge was a favorite as well, love the architecture and it's fits the scene very well

Beautiful drive starting at Donner Lake and the to the bridge. Lots of parking at the bridge and you can walk on to it. Continue driving as far as you wish.

Holy nuts! The sunrises from up here with the hovering fog above the lake are unreal. A perfect place to watch the sunrise or scope out a hike on the surrounding peaks. Great climbing nearby as well with some awesome intermediate pitches.

You don't get more outdoors than this. If you look up on the mountain side you can see the tunnels for the railroad. The Pacific Crest Trail also goes right through Donner Summit. Gorgeous area all around this historic bridge from 1925.
