A Hidden Gem That Blew My Mind I wasn’t prepared for this. What looks like a humble sandwich shack serves up the most surprising and unforgettable sandwich I’ve ever had. A thick, crunchy slab of perfectly fried prawn, fresh cabbage slaw, soft toasted bread—and what I think was a fried egg or omelet layer that just took it over the top. Every bite had crunch, flavor, and comfort. This isn’t just a sandwich—it’s a full-on soul-hug. One of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had, hands down. Don’t sleep on this place.

***HIDDEN GEM ALERT*** I've driven past this place thousands of times and never knew it was here. What a shame... it is honestly one of the best places to eat in the south island. If you are driving by and are hungry, STOP! The food is delicious, the portions are massive, and the owner is very kind.

Heard some great reviews about this place but it took 2 tries to finally get to try this place out. The first two times we tried, they were randomly closed, so don’t trust the hours open on google. However it’s never been a biggie and we figured one day we’d catch him being open and today was the day. My husband order the spicy chicken sandwich and I ordered the shrimp patty sandwich. We were not expecting the monstrosity that were the sandwiches otherwise we probably would have shared. No complaints though! Food came out a bit slower but it was busy. The owner (I can only presume) came out to each table to check up on us and seemed super cheery and friendly. And the prices for the sandwiches were actually super reasonable for what you ordered. I made mine a combo (which included tater tots and a canned pop) for 15.00 total which is a pleasant surprise in this expensive world. Would I go back? Yes I would. Would I recommend this place? I already did!

Soul's Toast is a great hidden gem and a must stop on the Malahat. Chef Soul is making such great sandwiches with big portions, the shrimp sandwich and potato puffs are so satisfyingz especially with a side of spicy sauce to dip the puffs in! Will definitely been stopping by again everytime I'm passing through. Thanks Chef Soul for the great food!!

Wow what an amazing hidden gem. Stopped here on our drive from Victoria to Tofino for some lunch and we’re not expecting such a special experience. Easily one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had in my life. They are big but I ate the whole thing with enthusiasm and then finished my wife’s. The tater tots were exceptional as well. Do yourself a favour and check this place out. We both had the fried chicken sandwich (think it was called the smile chicken sandwich). I preferred the spicy one to the mild

Both staff were lovely and the food was delicious. We got the angry egg toast and the smile chicken. Food was made fresh there and packed so it was still warm when we got home. Highly recommend driving through the Malahat to give it a try or stopping on your way over!

Review for Soul Toast I had the pleasure of visiting Soul Toast after hearing great recommendations, and it absolutely lived up to the hype! Coming from Ontario, I was excited to try something new, and this place did not disappoint. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with friendly staff who made the experience even better. The service was excellent—attentive, quick, and genuinely kind. The food was incredible, well worth the visit, and you could tell it was made with care. Every bite was packed with flavor, and the portions were just right. What really set Soul Toast apart was the breathtaking view. Eating while surrounded by such a scenic backdrop made the experience even more enjoyable. Whether you’re looking for a great meal, top-notch service, or just a relaxing spot to take in the scenery, this place has it all. Highly recommend!

Hidden Gem on the Way to Victoria! I stopped by Soul’s Toast while driving through Malahat, and I was truly impressed. From the outside, it looks simple, but the food is absolutely top-notch. I had the Shrimp Soul’s Toast, and it was delicious – the tempura shrimp were perfectly crispy and the sauce was full of flavour. The portion was generous and everything was fresh. The service was amazing! The owner was super friendly and welcoming – you can tell they really care about their customers and what they serve. It felt more like visiting a friend than just eating out. This spot is definitely worth checking out – great food, warm atmosphere, and fair prices. I’ll definitely be back! *Rating:* ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)
