I really enjoyed this place. The food was great. I wanted a low calorie healthy dinner which they had and it was delicious. They served beer and wine only which was ok, I had a chardonnay. I would love to have had a margarita but wine was good enough. Service was great as well but the best part was the live jazz/blues band. Excellent entertainment!

This location does not cheat you on food, by far the best steak and cheese I ever had! Great place for a social aspect and veterans.

Lorraine is doing a stellar job of carrying on her dad's tradition and bringing in the good music and providing tasty grub and beer and wine with the excellent fun atmosphere of JV's. Always good times at JV's!

I've been coming here for years. This is a dive bar with great live music and OK food. The music is always great. The bar serves bottle/can beer and wine only but no tap beer or liquor service. I'd love to see them double down on a great plate of nachos (theirs are dry and tasteless) as well as offer a draft beer option but if they did that, they wouldn't be a dive bar now would they? I've come back here over and over again over the year to see fantastic bands. My advice is absolutely come for the music but eat before you go or at least know what you're getting. Have some beer or wine, dance with a partner or all by yourself because it's all OK here. Folks are friendly, the bartenders are great folks, the patrons are easy going and nobody gets rowdy in a bad way. Drop any pretentiousness you have when you walk in and plan to have a great time and enjoy the show.

I am a musician who performed at this restaurant. I have never been treated so poorly by any bar or venue that does live music ever in my entire life. After being told my group would get to perform within an hour of arriving, we ended up having to wait five hours - just to get kicked off stage after six minutes of playing due to “lack of time”. I play music for a living and I have never once been treated like this by any establishment. I would recommend staying far away from this place, as gatekeeping, racism, and inconsiderate behavior seems to be the norm. I will never be setting foot in this restaurant ever again, nor will I ever recommend it to anyone.

Great place to see music music practically every night of the week. The food is good, and the kitchen is open late. They don't have beer on tap, which is a negative, but they do have a pretty good selection of beer in cans and bottles. I found stuff I was happy with.

I don't like to leave bad reviews but this time I have no choice because I felt offended by my waitress, she ignored me several times, got my order wrong and gave me attitude on top of that when it was her mistake, I had to go to get her at the bar to get my bill; again she ignored me. I was patient and waited then when she finally looked at me I waived at her to ask for my check and she yelled at me saying "I am busy" even the guys at the bar commented that she was very rude and that she could have used other choice of words instead. I didn't say anything to her just watched her and I guess she noticed the way the guys looked at her so she just said "sorry" and gave me my check. I have been there a few times for the Blues jam on Sundays and even a Tuesday night and the other servers were nicer than her so I can't generalized on the service. I go there because the music and organizers are really nice and inviting so you don't want to miss any day for the Blues jam, food is ok nothing outstanding except for the coconut pie so far! I haven't try everything on the menu yet so I can comment farther about the food another time but so far this is my personal opinion. I try to get friends and family with me but I am afraid I will get this kind of service again, the friend I took was very upset about this issue and said he would no go back but I will give it another try since I love the Blues jam

We enjoyed this place. They had a good band. Staff was friendly. They only serve wine and bottled beer for beverages. I would definitely recommend this place.

I ate recently by chance, had to come in because it has my initials! I'm glad I did. Came here on a Tuesday or Wednesday night, which happens to be open mic night. Had live entertainment with my meal. They had a number of daily specials. I chose a ribeye steak for about $32. It was fantastic. It was huge and delicious, came with baked potato. I would put this steak against any steak form a fancy steakhouse. It was superb, and for $32 also a great deal. I have been to many fine dining restaurants and expensive steakhouses across the US, and I'm telling you that was one of THE BEST steaks I have ever had, and in that price range it is impressive. The food here is solid. They have music 7 nights a week. My only constructive criticism is the drink prices a re a little high. I had a beer and it was $8 or 9. No beers on tap. This place has been around since 1947. A real landmark. If I was going to recommend only 1 place in Falls Church Virginia, which has many good restaurants to choose from, this would be THE PLACE. My number one recommendation in the entire city.

Great local bar, and they have great music. When I say bar, it is not a full bar, only wine and beer. In the same soit for over 75 years.

JV's is the best bar for live music in Northern Virginia and possibly the whole world! Thanks to Lorraine for keeping this classic joint hopping all these years.

Small and intimate setting to enjoy live music! The food menu features pub grub and comfort food, and it's very good. We love listening to the Blues and find that many local blues artists play here often.

It is a reminder of what Arlington used to be like. A touch blue-collar, military-focused. Laid-back and unpretentious. That is this bar to the tee. Does it serve fancy cocktails? No. Does it feel comfortable? Yes.

The food is Like a home cooked meal and well proportioned. The weight staff is kind and friendly. The music is outstanding. There is something happening here every day. Don’t miss out on an adventure add the legendary JV’s.

I love this place. Live music 7-days a week and a friendly atmosphere. Locals who perform on open mic nights are very good. The ladies are amenable for a dance if the music is right.

Can't go in and not hear a great band - whether it be on a Friday or Saturday Night, or any night of the week. Bring your own voice, strings and things and experience your own Rock 'n Roll Fantasy during a Tuesday or Wednesday open mic. Say hello to Loraine and introduce yourself to her staff - they will take care of you. Remember, if you got to make a call - take a ride in the last remaining "Phone Booth" in Northern Virginia...haha. A good time, great food, fine drinks and Triple Chocolate Cake too. It's been 74 years come November. Keep this train rolling.

This establishment is a dive bar, but thats what makes this so unique. On first impression you ask what did you get yourself into when you enter, but it grows in you. It has a small dancefloor that will accommodate 15 -20 people, but it's in bad condition and tears up you danceshoe soles.
