Now I get it ..... It was saint patricks day, we didn't have a reservation so I was expecting a wait. I'll wait .. no problem. Well first I was charged 10 for a cover to just get in after at least 40 minutes wait. Was told it was an hour to hour 30 for food. We ordered drinks and went outside to wait. Well I guess we were called and they gave our table away. So we had a seat outside and said we still want to eat, we will eat out here. She brought a menu. We waited for another 30 minutes for them to take out orders. After about two hours we got to eat. Food was decent, wasnt worth the wait or the price. Don't understand why we were charged a cover if we were just eating, but lesson learned, we won't be coming back...

Delicious Irish meals that taste homemade. Every meal I’ve ordered or have tried from a friend’s plate has been hearty and full of flavor. I also like to swing by and get the occasional Guinness from the bar. They’ve got a decent draft selection, nothing crazy, but I typically come here for the food anyways.

I've come here a few times. Service has always been excellent even when crowded, good drinks and good vibes. Live music if you come early enough, along with events each night. South of Clarendon so the vibe here is relaxed. Great place to catch whatever sports game your into with some good food. Kitchen closed at 10, but will often take orders up to that time.

This restaurant is unbelievable. Food was outstanding. Excellent service. Amazing environment. Drinks were superb. Our server Niamh was beyond professional and had such a great attitude.

This place is okay, the fries are really good, similar to a McDonalds style but better. I do not recommend the half chicken as mine was over cooked, bland and the gravy didn't taste like gravy. The mashed potatos here come unseasoned and bland too. The ribs were perfectly cooked and lathered in an average tasting bbq sauce. Also the coleslaw was average.

What do you do when you get home from a road trip to find out a storm came through and your home as well as most of Columbia Pike has no electricity? You go find a pub to chill out and have a beer with dinner. The Celtic House had electricity and I have passed by the pub many times over the years saying I should stop sometime for a bite to eat. Well, Saturday night was the night. The pub was busy due to the fact they were one of the only places with electricity on Columbia Pike; however, the staff was prompt to show us a table when we came in and take our drink order. We ordered a couple beers, Irish egg rolls, fish and chips, and Guinness beef stew. Everything tasted great. The atmosphere was great for hanging out, watching sports, or just chatting. We would definitely comeback. Thanks for the opportunity to relax and eat during the summer storm aftermath!

Outstanding service. Very good menu with Irish selections. Next for the server selections and was given excellent recommendations. The fish and chips were very good. Had bread pudding for dessert and it was outstanding. Excellent beer and liquor menu. Highly recommended.

Always love coming here. I hardly ever go to any other Celtic pubs and usually choose this place over breweries because you just can’t beat the food. PLEASE stop by this place for an authentic Irish experience

WOW! This has got to be one of the best pubs I've ever been to. We had the Bangers & Mash and the Chicken Pot Pie. Both were perfect in every way. Our server, Daragh, provided great service as well. In addition to a large menu with lots of options they have a great selection of draft and canned beer, as well as a huge whiskey list including some harder to find options. We'll definitely be back! **UPDATE** We came back a few months later on a Saturday night and they had a great live band playing. All of the food was as excellent as before, as was the service. Still a 10/10 recommend

Absolutely amazing!!! We will be back again and again to try the whole menu! We had the Irish Egg Rolls as an appetizer and I could have eaten a couple of plates of just that!! My husband loved it even though it had several ingredients he doesn't usually like. I got the homemade chicken pot pie ... Literally mouth watering. My husband loved his lamb burger (not my cup of tea) and my father-in-law got the Reuben which he though was good. We sat outside but still could hear the live music from inside. All in all, the food was absolutely fantastic. The service was great. I don't remember our server's name, but she was so much fun! We enjoyed ourselves immensely. Definitely recommend The Celtic House!!

My wife and I have been going here for the past 2 years. However, last night will be the last of us going there ever again. It was the usual amount of people there, about half way full. We were sat down and took about 15 mins before our waiter came over. We ordered 2 appetizers and drinks. Our waiter brought out our drinks 15 mins later. Our appetizers came out from the kitchen workers 5 minutes later. Then we were waiting for our waiter to come back to order our entrees and more drinks and we had to wave down a different waiter in order to do so and ordered. Kitchen workers and the bartenders brought our stuff out in good time. I saw our actual waiter in the corner texting on his phone, as he looked up we tried waving him out and he completely ignored us. We finished up our food and got our check from a different waiter again. Put the card in and our actual waiter came over and took it. Came back and told us to have a nice day. We paid around $80 and left a $0 on the receipt because we typically like to pay tips in cash. He saw that there was a zero and told the manager on us and had the manager come to our table and coerced us to pay a 50% tip for our waiter who only came to our table twice for our entire 2 hours we were there. I was going to put down $20 in cash and decided against it after the manager confronted us. THAT WAS COMPLETELY DISRESPECTFUL TO DO TO A CUSTOMER! The food isn't bad but if you don't pay a hefty tip for a negligent worker they'll try to force to pay one. Sad to see the management go down the route they did, I really liked this place. There loss now.

Haigh! Welcome to The Celtic House — Arlington’s authentic Irish pub that brings you back to the times whence you enjoyed your youth vibrantly at public social events and just ‘pubs’ alone or with your mates. For me and my “Paris Latina” wife — a Lass who enjoys on occasion a fine pour of Guinness or margarita — here means recollection of our days together long pre-Covid, before our two sprouts graced the bassinet, those early years when us not yet having the bit o’ earned gold in pocket kept our leisure expenses to a pained minimum. My my my! As Dylan doth sang, the times… they are a changin’! Presenting thusly is Arlington’s Irish best. A high expectations fulfilled of a real man’s town bar and commercial kitchen, a lengthy selection of Ireland’s finest libations (several Irish Creams alone!) and expertly prepared Gaelic fare. All to revel in is served up by angelic, smiling lassies (so far we have met one from Waterford, another from Derry/Daire, and… a smiling Filipina??? 💛) with their joyful, easy conversations. Never is your party overcome by the gentle background music which soothes the beast of the day’s end that a hardened, hardworking man feels inside. If ya do prefer even, partake of the outdoor seating — offers up that Springtime in Galway ya wished for as well! [Dogs welcome 🐶!] Been a long time since my vocals hit the key notes on “Danny Boy”…. Good thing, too!… Because the owner here is named Mike (how cool is that, eh?) hailing well from County Clare. Nicely appointed, amicable and amiable, he makes this neighborly pub a friendly place just himself… and can be seen jostling through steady at any open hour amidst the zinc and the comfortable chairs astride solid tables/booths on his personal rounds to greet all the patrons. Clearly evidenced, Ireland 🇮🇪 and her masterful glory floweth still in his vibrantly youthful veins. We tried the buffalo wings on several occasions, and the flavor richness is some of the best found in South Arlington. Order them during your favorite sports event whilst at the lengthy zinc, or at an indoor table, as the TV’s are plentiful and viewable from all angles. Also delectable for me are the fish tacos, and only bettered by my recently noshing the fish sandwich. Oh my goodness… was that the tenderest fried fish filet ever (double, on a brioche bun) with a tangy tartar sauce, crisp fresh lettuce, and tomato (if desired, not my choice). A hefty portion of french fries, cooked just rightly — “chips”, the ubiquitous side that here actually rivals some hidden locations once known to me in Cite Bruxelles back in the day. The Contessa herself enjoys the steak and cheese. Large, filling, and some to take home. Surprisingly so, for ne’er does she try, let alone enjoy, a sandwich! The steak pieces are palatable, cut perfect, and covered in a simple cheese without a drowning, greasy mess so often done. Another dinner excursion among family saw me ordering the precious and delectable and thick lamb burger, which, for this man who usually eschews the carnivore tendency held within, proved to be a sandwich unlike any other found inside the DC Beltway fold. Satisfy you much it can, left overs to take for tomorrow possible, and yet you won’t feel that gut-bomb which often occurs from so hearty a meal. Once a young’un in Paris, viewing tv rugby 🏉 games at the James Joyce in Les Halles or The Quiet Man (both stalwarts for a good Guinness pour), now here be me giving thanks to God that The Celtic House in S. Arlington isn’t itself across The Pond. To reiterate for erudition: County Claire Mike (owner extraordinaire) & Princeton Steve manage a happening, vivacious crew known for excellency in pleasing the clientele. 🍻 [A small concern: not a bottle of Proper 12 behind the bar. McGregor, my 2nd fave competitor after Jackie Stewart (yep, my gray hair is not unjustified), not then welcomed? Ok, that’s fair. Instead, perhaps Finnegan can have his blessed wake here?] ☘️ Slainte Mhaith! 🙏🤠 **Live Celtic music every Thursday — a true pot of gold at the end of the Arlington rainbow*

Traditional Irish pub, feels like I stepped into Tralee when I walk into this restaurant. I love the corned beef Reuben, but everything my fellow diners ordered was reported as very tasty as well. Service is very friendly, prompt and with a bit of a brogue from some staff. Parking can be tight in the lot up front but there is some street parking.

Wonderful Irish Pub! My favorite local restaurant. Atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the food never disappoints. I love the Shepherds Pie, Celtic House Steak and the Irish Egg Rolls! Staff are first rate, attentive and make you feel at home. Highly recommend.

Our family was traveling to DC to visit for a few days. Thankfully, the first night we stopped in for an early dinner and were BLOWN AWAY! They quickly sat the 6 of us and we ordered appetizers. The Irish Egg Rolls and Scotch Eggs are AMAZING! The amazing experience didn't stop there either, dinner was just as good! So good that for the next 2 nights we kept going back. We would catch ourselves throughout the day asking one another what they were going to get for dinner that night. Between my wife and I and our kids we put a huge dent in the menu, ordering just about everything. The only disappointment was realizing we're 6 hours away. We can't wait to go back!

Awesome local pub with authentic atmosphere and Irish born bartenders to boot! Loved having a fun couple of drinks here to close out our last night in the DC area for this trip. Wish we had gotten there in time for food but hopefully we can catch them next time when the kitchen is still open! Excellent selection of beers, mixed beer drinks (black and tan, snakebite, etc.), and cocktails. Would highly recommend if you are in the neighborhood.

Absolute amazing experience, meal, and all around time. Relaxing and the best shepherds pie I’ve ever had. Ownership and staff, well done. Well done.

We were passing through Washington DC from North Carolina and decided to stop by a pub, drink beer and try Irish food. Everything was fast and perfect. The waitress was friendly, took our order quickly and was very friendly in answering our questions. The food was brought very quickly, I didn’t want to look at the clock and check the time. The food is hot, the meat is cooked to perfection, and the portions are very large. Beer and cocktails were also excellent. I'm sure that if I'm in those parts again, I'll definitely come here again.

We held a retirement party at this location with approximately 40 people. The wait staff, bartenders, and general manager were stellar! The service and care taken to make this event special were truly well above average and much appreciated. I can't say enough...timely service....the moment a glass became empty, the waitress was there to take the order. Her memory is insane. I told her 20 items at one time...she remembered all of them...didn't write one thing down. Love the staff...their customer service and of course the food and beverages!

I felt welcomed as soon as I walked in the door! I had my first, ever, reuben sandwich and Irish coffee. Absolutely superb! Will be back and recommending to anyone who will listen!

Have been in this place multiple times with my coworkers. Fish and chips are really good but very greasy. Good place to go with friends.

I absolutely love going to The Celtic House! Not only is their food amazing but the service is out of this world! I recently visited from Roanoke VA and accidentally left my wallet. I was almost home before I realized I had left it. I called and spoke with the manager and he agreed to ship it to my home. Not only did it arrive in a timely manner but he refused to allow me to pay for shipping it to me. My wallet was returned with all contents as I had left it! Great food, good service, and outstanding citizenship from this establishment! 10/10 would recommend!
