The food & environment were so seasoned that the fried chicken was seasoned crispy. The greens have this wait and surprise a bit of spice when it's about to be swallowed. The mashed potatoes are like a medium scoop that makes you want a few more scoops only to realize your full, so it's not really needed. The service was absolutely 💯. We will be back. We were first-time customers. Now we're lifers

Loved all the items we ordered. Good brunch place with lot of options for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. When you enter, you are greeted by a small book shop and then you can see the seating area. We started with mimosas and ordered food. Avocado panini was my favourite. Fresh and delicious. Wild rice, grilled cheese toast and French toast were also savouring.

This was our first time (although I have wanted to go sooner) and enjoyed it. There’s a free parking garage a block away, which helps. Service is great. The setting is also very good. We had no wait and there seems to be plenty of seating, although it was very busy. I enjoyed everything I had. Sweet potato fries were phenomenal. The cauliflower bites were delicious. And the chicken and wild rice soup was very flavorful.

It’s been over decade since I’ve been to this chain in DC and it was not bad. Honestly, I would not order the same meal (veggie bowl) because it was okay but great. I think I would done a sandwich instead. Loved the non alcoholic drinks though. I got the self care one. Vibe - it was a standard busy restaurant with a bookstore in the corner. The bathroom hallway was super sticky. I would recommend to mop the floor because it was not a pleasant experience for customers. Overall, it was okay for a bit to eat.

Joined my coworkers here to eat and work during a snow day. The food & drinks were delicious! Service was perfect. Wifi connection was fast. Will definitely be visiting again. We had the sweet potato pancakes & the Oaxaca omelette with the cheddar jalapeño grits. For drinks we did a cappuccino & a matcha latte. Edited to add more photos because I ended up visiting again 2 days later!

This place is a lot of fun. Part hipster bar, part family diner, part bookstore. The books were all far-left authors and topics, so no diversity there. But the food was delicious.

Love. This. Place. What a great vibe when you walk in. There’s a mini bookstore, it’s artsy and people are always on the go. Came here for lunch got a couple cocktails. We got a mojito and sangria. For food we got shredded beef barbacoa tacos as recommended by the bartender. And the lamb sliders with sweet potato fries. Everything was amazing. The tacos and sliders were so flavorful. I ordered the tacos but ended up stealing two of my partners lamb sliders. That’s how good they were! The lamb sliders are a must try. They weren’t too moist but weren’t too dry. Sweet potato fries were great. Service was great. Also, I’ve come here before and gotten the Iraqi corned beef hash. Y’all have to try that as well it’s absolutely amazing!

Came for the books. Stayed for the great food. Word of advice: whatever you see that you want to try, try it. Everything I tasted was good. Burger, shrimp, catfish, grits... all of it was good. And the bookstore is a cozy spot that has a really good selection.

We were seated immidiately upon arriving and received our food and drinks in a timely manner. I had their salmon and it was DELICIOUS, BUT my husband tried their catfish and said it was very bland so I don't recommend the catfish. We appreciated how BIG the salmon and catfish were. We'd definitely give it another shot in case it was an error on the chefs end. Our favorite alcoholic beverages were "grown and sexy and sunset poetry"

Ordered a lavender latte that was amazing, we both ordered salmon eggs Benedict and sweet potato fries as well. While the food was incredible, there was half an eggshell in my eggs as well as bits of shell scattered throughout the rest of my eggs Benedict. The fries were great though! 👍

This was a recommendation from my daughter and I just decided to stop by while out taking care of appointments. The falafel was a show stopper nad must have. Our experience was nice and the atmosphere is very laid back and chill. Will definitely be back

The food can be hit or miss. A good dish one night can be poorer quality another night. My favorite is the Shrimp & Chicken Chorizo Pasta. I like the grilled cheese and a side of soup too.

At first, I wasn’t sure about going into this place. It looked like a coffee shop or bookstore with a bar, but I’m glad I did. It’s really a restaurant with a bar, bookstore, open mic nights and much more all rolled into one. Culture and art are important here, and the restaurant manages to be all of these things and more without losing sight of what’s most important: it’s food. The food was great. That staff was friendly. Great place to eat a wide range of flavors.

What an amazing place to hangout with friends and family! Let kids loose in their well curated book store. Excellent choice of gifts, books and awesome vegan and Vegetarian menu. They can work on their bathroom (it was out of order on our side) and hygiene as I saw them using plunger 🪠, broom without proper gloves and walking in and out of the bathroom to kitchen.

The wait was quick and they whipped up 2 smaller tables to accommodate our large party. The vibe would be a cafe within we a bookstore Instead of a burger we had all starters. Hummus, crab/shrimp balls, buffalo wings, crispy cauliflower bites & crispy Brussel sprouts.

Parking is across the street. It is located in a cozy strip of restaurants with outside seating. Shrimp n Grits was great! The menu of items has a good selection. Service was phenomenal.

I went here on a Saturday afternoon for brunch/lunch with a friend. The atmosphere was laid back and the food was delicious. We ordered the vegan egg wrap, firecracker shrimp and fried chicken sandwich (and obligated cranberry mimosa and Bloody Mary of course). Susan, our waitress, was great! She was patient dealing with two friends whom haven’t caught up in a while and didn’t look at the menu. The area has a couple of parking garages, so there are options. There was plenty of space in the restaurant and even have a bar top and book store area. This was my first time visiting this location and will frequent again for lunch.

I was recommended this restaurant and it did not disappoint. My wife and I decided to give it a try this past Sunday for brunch and we were in for an amazing experience. My wife got the shrimp and grits and it was delicious. I order the blackened salmon and it was cooked to perfection. The salmon came with wild rice but with it being brunch hours I ordered an extra side of crab grits; I was so glad I did because the taste of the grits were amazing too. The service was great too. My wife added us to the wait list while we were on our way there. When we arrived we were seated immediately. I have heard of this place before, but never been. The entire feel of the restaurant is simply amazing. From the customer service to the music and of course the food.... I definitely recommend this place without question.

Visited with work colleagues for the first time. Our server was attentive, but not intrusive. We all ordered different dishes and everyone enjoyed what they ordered. My cubano panini was flavorful and more than I could eat in one sitting. Sweet potato fries were a perfect compliment. I’m looking forward to going back to try something different.

Went for brunch and can’t wait to come back! There were so many choices that sounded great. Went with the sweet potato pancakes which were delicious and had a nice cinnamon taste. The sweet potato hash was also great. The eggs came poached hard but they happily remade them easy. Mimosas were spot on. Everything affordable. So many vegetarian and vegan options!

When we arrived late morning on Sunday, they were busy with a 25 min wait. Luckily we were able to be seated at a high top table without waiting, which was nice. Loved all the vegan options on the menu. I got the new vegan hash and it was excellent! I appreciated the Cholula on the table, as it is one of my hot sauces of choice. Mimosa had a strange taste, much like orange flavor Emergen-C (I don't think this was intentional so I found it strange). My partner got eggs Benedict and thought it was one of the best around. We had to flag someone down (not our server) to ask for water halfway through our meal, which wasn't ideal, but overall we had a good experience. Looking at all the books was fun as well.

Taste and Ingredients: The vegan avocado and cheese sandwich was nothing short of a revelation. Each bite into the toasted bread revealed a creamy, rich layer of avocado paired with a surprisingly authentic-tasting vegan cheese. The contrast of textures and the balance of flavors were meticulously crafted, showcasing the kind of culinary craftsmanship I’ve come to appreciate. It’s a dish that speaks volumes of the care in selecting quality, plant-based ingredients without compromising on the taste front. The tomato basil soup served as the perfect counterpart to the sandwich. Its robust tomato base, accentuated with just the right touch of basil, offered a comforting warmth. Delivery: Opting for home delivery, I was impressed by the efficiency and care in packaging. The meal arrived promptly, with each component securely and sustainably packaged, ensuring that the quality of the food was preserved. It’s a minor detail, but one that speaks to the ethos of Busboys and Poets’ commitment to sustainability and customer satisfaction.

Food was pretty good. Maybe I had super high expectation for the vegetarian pasta. I felt it didn’t have enough fake meat on the sauce or it was alright. Garlic bread was good tho. The cauliflower appetizer 🤤 was delicious with that aoli yum. The dc flat drink was alright, strong but maybe that’s how folks like it. My friend got some beef vegan bowl. The fake beef reminded me of tosino. Which is pretty cool. The ambiance is def homey. Why I didn’t give 5 stars is we got pasta, veggie bowl, 2 cocktails, and 2 appetizers. Not all of them were absolute hits but it’s pretty good. I’d come back just to try the other veggie options.

My daughter recommended this place to us after visiting a DC location and having a good experience. The food was perfectly prepared and vibe was great. I’d definitely visit again. I love the small business feel for a regional chain and the tie in with art/culture/books. The service was great too.

Our Server Susan was amazing. Fod was hot and on time. And try the DC Tap Water and The Color Purple drink. We were tipsy.

A friend and I decided to start our 2024 year off with food and fun! Busboy and Poets had Pajama Day with an extended brunch time menu. We had fun! Enjoyed the food and our waitress was awesome! We are planning to have more outings at Busboy and Poets this year!

Love that it’s dog friendly!! There was no wait when we got there for dinner. I ordered shrimp and chicken pasta and it was delicious, huge shrimps and big chunks of chicken, so creamy! My husband got the burger and he loved it! It was happy hour so we got some drinks! Mojito was refreshing! He got a mango beer and I ended up ordering one for me!

Fun vibe (book store, pretty art), good variety of brunch food and drinks. Staff was fairly attentive, though could have checked in a bit more throughout the meal. It's not a cheap brunch, especially if you're doing drinks, but it's very filling and tasty. There is parking in a garage across the street (free, time limited) as well as limited street parking in the neighborhood. Would return.

Monday during happy is a great time to visit. I have tried several things on the menu but the lamb burger and sweet potato fries really hits the spot. A pita is used instead of a regular burger bun and the large lamb patty comes with some fresh cucumbers, tomatoes, and a yogurt sauce. This with a mojito has become my go to Monday treat.

Based on Classic Eggs a la Benedict LOCATION Very nice location in Shirlington. FOOD Classic Eggs Benedict: 1 STAR Wierd taste for me. Overpowering sour taste distracted from balancing of flavors. Textures were great but when one flavor overwhelms the entire dish, it kills the potential of the dish. Definitely something I would not buy again. Flavors have to be balanced to create a harmony of flavors. I ended up eating both orders since I was really hungry. Fruits were fresh! Sweet Potato pancakes were delicious. Coffee was delicious 😋! CUSTOMER SERVICE A Bit slow at the beginning. Then our waitress came and things changed to the better! Tany was amazing calming, professional and charming. Will definitely go back just for her CS. RETURN FACTOR 75% RECOMMEND A FRIEND FACTOR 75%

    - food was really good, everything had nice flavor and was fresh. The vegan chicken sandwich was probably one of the best I've had in the area. - service was ok, not the worst but not the best. - staff were all mostly friendly. - prices normal for the area. - parking can be limited depending on the day and time you go. - nice atmosphere. - overall a good first experience at this location.

I really enjoy coming here to catch up with friends. It's a bit calmer than other Shirlington restaurants and the decor inside is cute. Service is always friendly. This time around I ordered an iced latte which was delicious, a tropical mocktail which was on the sweet end but so refreshing, and the chicken panini which was yummy. Everything was enjoyable. The restaurant can sometimes get packed, but they don't have reservations. They have halal chicken so Muslims can partake in non-vegetarian sandwich and breakfast offerings.

Busboys And Poets has several locations in the DMV. They have a pretty good menu including a real good selection of vegan food. We sat outside and I believe just like all other restaurants they are short of staff. Service was ok , the chicken nacho was really good and so was the key lime pie. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Great brunch experience with quality mimosas and Irish coffee. They know how to make ‘em. The menu had some good looking choices that made me want to go back, too. The grilled chicken panini is “the best sandwich ever, with a perfect amount of sauce and perfectly grilled chicken” from my brunch compatriot.
