Couldn't go up 😢 furthermore the monument looks very industrial. The only saving Grace is the park with a pretty cool view of DC and tulips in the spring.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Netherlands Carillon in Washington DC, and it was an absolute delight. Nestled near the iconic Arlington National Cemetery, this hidden gem offers an unforgettable experience that combines stunning views, rich history, and a peaceful atmosphere. As you approach the Carillon, you'll be immediately captivated by its grandeur. The towering structure stands proudly against the backdrop of the Potomac River, commanding attention with its elegant design and intricate carvings. The surrounding greenery and well-maintained gardens add to the charm and tranquility of the place. Whether you're a history buff, a nature lover, or simply seeking a peaceful retreat in the midst of the city, the Netherlands Carillon is a must-visit. I highly recommend taking the time to explore its beauty and soak in the rich heritage it represents.

Good views of DC. Plays a long sequence of bells on the hours and a shorter sequence at the quarter hour. Close to the Marine Corps Memorial and Arlington Cemetery.

This is such an amazing piece of architecture designed by J.W.C Boks, Rotterdam and constructed by Petit & Fritsen Aarle—Rixtel of the Netherlands! Bells founded by HT & AH Van Bergen, B. Eijsbouts, Petit & Fritsen of the Netherlands.

Often overlooked memorial from The Netherlands in thanks for our help in WWII. The history of the bells is worth reading about in person, and so is experiencing the view. I took the ART 61 from Courthouse Metro Station to get here, it drops you off about half a mile away, around a five minute walk.

A quiet place with occasional joggers passing by. Admire those who persist in running during the winter. I dislike being exposed to the cold air.

Definitely worth visiting if you're seeing the Iwo Jima memorial & coming from Arlington. The tulips are beautiful in spring. A nice commemoration to the Dutch-American friendship!

Do you even want people to enjoy 4th of July? Drove here to see the roads blocked. What kind of celebration is this? Also there’s no parking! The police are also not helpful. Don’t recommend!

Masonic structure masquerading as WW2 gift from Netherlands. Two sphinx "guard" the entrance and face the Masonic obelisk in the distance towering over our White House. The Carillon structure is ugly and stark but likely fulfills a dark Masonic design goal. The music from the Carillon was mediocre. And millions have been spent on this. Likely worthwhile to see the actual bells but they're hidden thanks to the Masonic designer. // I actually met a mason today, for the Dutch event. I guess not surprising he would be there. People were using his temple.

LOVE the tulips during the spring :)) These photos are from April 2022, this year there are multicolored tulips! This is my favorite view of the monuments and it is a great spot to watch the sunset with a picnic.

Bit of a bizzare monument but it does have a great view of DC
