This was the last major attraction I saw during my one week trip here from 12/28/21 to 1/4/2022. You can see the Capital Building from several blocks away. I actually remembered I needed to stop by because I saw it after exiting the Children’s Museum. It was a little after 5pm when we made it there. We say the reflecting pool, which is wider but shorter than the reflecting pool between the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument. Unlike the latter, the Capitol’s reflecting pool isn’t easily accessible to stuck your feet it. The view, however, was still nice. This was my first time being in DC since I was in elementary school. It was extremely awesome to see the Capitol building. It was ironic that I had just watched Olympus Has Fallen on TV in my hotel just a day prior. Unfortunately, the perimeter of the building is gated off due to the events that transpired a year ago. I’m saddened to see that public access still isn’t available. Of course COVID is an added barrier to tours. Going inside is something that I wanted to do. I did not go to the visitors center that is close by as my son was ready to go back to the hotel, lol. There was a large Christmas tree in the lawn area between the capital building and the reflecting pool. Many people were taking pictures and appeared to be having a good time. I was grateful for the experience because I talked to my son (8) about what goes on in the building, the legislative bodies, and etc. I’m sure he’s forgotten everything we talked about but he can say he seen it in person whenever he does learn about it in school.

As iconic as the building is thanks to Hollywood, it truly is a beauty inside and outside. The history of the place is amazing as is the free tour organised by the Visitor center. You can even sit in a senate or House of Representatives session, which is a truly amazing experience (ask at the counter). It’s visible from so many areas of the national mall and is a very picturesque opportunity for some lovely angle shots. Do remember to visit the Library of Congress, which can be explored through a tunnel with a security check (no queue or hassle of redoing the whole checking process)

The United States Capitol is perhaps one of my favorite buildings in the world. It's a delight to explore the surrounding areas, no matter the time of day. I haven't had the chance to do a tour yet, but it's definitely on my list for the future. The tulips in the spring and the Christmas tree in December add a special charm to the place. Whenever I'm in DC, I make it a point to spend at least 30 minutes walking the grounds. There's also plenty to do nearby, like visiting the Supreme Court building and the Library of Congress. Finding parking in Capitol Hill, just a few blocks away, is typically easy. And if you can, visit during sunset – it's absolutely stunning!

My first time taking the tour. Our Representative arranged a VIP tour. It was very small and personal. There’s no cost, but if your going to take a tour book it in advance. It takes about 3 hours or so. It was worth the time. Please hit “Like” if this was helpful. Thanks.

The United States Capitol is my favorite building in Washington, D.C. I love the way it looks from where ever you see it. It is beautiful and breathtaking at sunrise (please see my pics). I know the White House is an important building, but to me, the United States Capitol represents the entire United States of America. It will always be my favorite building in Washington, D.C. when you see it, I know that you will agree with me.

The Capitol Hill building stands as an architectural masterpiece, blending neoclassical design with symbolic elements. Its history is rich, serving as the seat of the U.S. Congress since 1800. The tours offer a fascinating journey through the legislative process, providing insight into the nation's governance. The intricate details of the Rotunda and Statuary Hall make the experience both educational and awe-inspiring. Book tours online before heading out there. There’s paid street and garage parking nearby. The parking lot right in front is only for officials. At night, there’s no crowd if you want to enjoy the architecture. You can park right in front of the building parking lot and take a stroll. There’s security 24x7 even if you can’t see personals around, so don’t do anything stupid.

A place where one can probe into the political history of USA. It is an iconic place and you need to reserve tickets beforehand visiting the place. You will be provided with a guide who give descriptive analysis of the architecture of the place and historical events. 😊

Visiting the Capitol building is fantastic experience. I visited with my family and it was a great opportunity to see some of our nation's history as well as the seat of power of the legislative branch. We booked a tour in advance from out state senator Ted Cruz. Our tour began at his office in the neighboring senate building. From there we took the underground trolly to the capitol building. Our tour guide took us through the various parts of the capitol biding explaining the building, decoration and history. After the tour we were able to view the senate and house of representative chamber. Each was unique. The House had a live reenactment of typical chamber proceedings which was nice, but once the reenactment was finished, we had to leave. The senate on the other hand had no reenactment, but we would stay as long as we like. I sat therefore a while attempting to etch the experience in my memory, which I personally valued more.

Highly recommend - walk the same ground as Webster, Calhoun, and Crockett. See the statuary representing each state. See artwork that was in your history books and architecture that is amazing. See a museum containing original artifacts that completely changed world history. Top notch tour guides! Reserve your free tickets online, read the websites know before you go, and enjoy. Nice cafe, clean restrooms, and coat check.

The in-depth history of this iconic building is grander than I expected! A true beautiful from the exterior to the interior. I got a sense of appreciation after leaving from here. It can get very packed though so it's recommended you start your day early to beat the crowd. A must see when you're in DC!

Really enjoyed the tour inside the Capitol building. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and funny. Really interesting history and beautiful inside. Liked the fact you can then walk through a tunnel to cross over to the library of Congress which again was beautiful.

This is a must visit in Washington D.C. The capital building is absolutely gorgeous. In the spring time there are many flowers and trees surrounding it to make it even better. The fountain in the front is very unique and perfect for pictures with the building. They have gates up with guards so you can't get really close. I think they do tours but you would have to research that on the website.

It is a place you need to see while you visit Washington. It is a historic building with great atmosphere. Unfortunately the fence around doesn't allow to get closer. It is also recommendable to take some pictures in the evening. It is a beautiful and you should not miss it

The US Capitol visitor center is free for everyone and even though you need a timed ticket, it is free of charge. You can purchase it once you enter and you’ll get the first one available next. They have tours every 10 minutes so it shouldn’t be a long wait. The tour consists of a movie showing the history of the capitol and constitution followed by seeing the important parts of the capitol. History buffs will love it. Follow this up by visiting the library of congress which is free too.

The place was beyond spectacular. Our first visit my family and I didn’t know that we had to book for the tickets. So we decided to visit it again and booked the tickets online for free. All that you have to do is register the names and ages of the visitors. We were a total of 11 in my family ages ranging between 10 - 40 a mixture of all ages. The tour was perfect to capture the interest of all the ages in the family and the host was just amazing and accommodating in answering all the questions that we had. Definitely recommend a visit with family.

What a stunning and eye-popping experience! We're so glad that we went on the tour of the Capitol. The domed ceiling with the apotheosis of Washington by Brumidi is something I could look at for several minutes (but not up close, oh well). The hall of statues with famous figures from each state is perfectly arranged. There's also a mini-museum that you can look around in before you begin your tour, with an elaborate model of the Capitol.

Do not miss visiting the US capitol. The building is amazing and the history it tells is a must do when visiting Washington DC. You can do a free tour where a guide is telling you a lot of facts about the building, the people who worked here and the ones who still work here. You can experience the history of the government of the United States here better then any where else. Secret tip: visit the capitol when the sun is down for a walk around the capitol garden.

Great experience here. They have free tours here. You can book in advance online, however you can also just walk-in. We did not book in advance and it was still just a pretty short wait for the tour. The tour was very interesting. They walked us through some areas of the building, such as the rotunda. It was really cool seeing the architecture in the building and learning the history of it. The staff was friendly and out tour guide was very knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend you visit here if you are in Washington DC.

The history within this building is certainly something to see. If you are on a short weekend break, I would recommend coming to see it. I would recommend coming early in the morning as it can get rather busy. If you love a rushed museum tour, you'll love this one. Personally, I would prefer to have a bit more time to be able to see all the history. Had my time not been rushed, this would've been a 5 star review.

Our Senator’s office scheduled our visit and tour which was well done by Thomas but sometimes hard to hear because it was so busy. Definitely a must-see. Tunnels neat to see as well. Wish they had already replaced the CB Aycock statue because we’d love to see how they’ll represent Billy Graham. So many cool historical details. Great field trip for sure!

As you can see in these photos, it was a sunny day and this was right before sunset. The grounds were gorgeous and the building is massive and impressive. The pictures don't do it justice. The park is also nice to just lay out in. It was so lush and green. I couldn't see any vestiges of a certain event, though there were many guards there.

We went in the first week of August. It was extremely hot. Be mindful to take hats, umbrella etc. We took a capitol tour inside. It was free but you have to book in advance. You need to go there with a booking. Historic and grand. We enjoyed the tour as it was very informative detailing the story of the birth of the constitution, the paintings and also the sculptures. You can take pictures when permitted. Also I want to mention here about finding the correct entrance for visitors as there were many gates. So plan ahead of your booking. It took us a little while to locate the exact gate for entrance.

The tour was the most boring tour I’ve ever been on in my life. First of all, they tell you to arrive 30 minutes early, but they build in a 10 minute buffer so that you can’t start the tour until 10 minutes after your ticketed start time. Then you watch a movie for 13 minutes, which is unfortunately the best part of the tour. You and 500 other people are then given headphones and shuffled into a small room with a handful of statues and a “point of interest” on the floor, this experience is repeated in a second room. The third room has big paintings. The tour guide talked for over an hour about absolutely nothing interesting.

A special feeling to stand in the middle of the Capitol and see what is probably the best-known symbol of democratic forms of government with your own eyes. The tour was first class, very well presented and conveyed. Only the cleaning service could stop by again to remove the dust from the last few months on the very historical paintings. If my mother see this dust in my room I’ll get big problems.

A most amazing experience every American should look at the history! The dome and the middle of the capital was the most beautiful American architectural part and many a favorite! Especially for Lincoln fans. Also the tours were great and not to busy. The statues have rich history and mostly the main course.
