In Odzun village of Alaverdi region the famous Odzun church is situated. It was built in 6-7cc by catholicos Hovhan Odznetsi

The priest was a lovely guy who told us the story of the church very briefly.

Nothing special. Mountainous background of church adds some value but still you can skip it without any regrets.

Beautiful place and very old church. I like that the church's attendant is glad when people come on the yard. Children come to play volleyball, walk around the church and spent time like Jesus said: "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."

A church with historical significance, the former Mother Church and where Jesus's saddling clothes were buried by St Thomas. The bathroom is just a hole in the ground though.

Nestled high in the hills of Northern Armenia up pops the reddish 5th century stoned monastery. It has undergone a few reconstruction/restorative work and it has beautiful arches and frescos litter the inside walls. This monastery was a replacement on our tour but I wasn't disappointed in this basilica-style church. It is believed that one of the apostles buried a piece of the swaddling cloth here. The monastery was not busy and there is a small supermarket and street sellers outside. It was so peaceful here.

Just a small detoure from a main road to Alaverdi from Dilijan. Worth doing. Gorgeous views to the valley. Amazing church with a rich history. Once you are there continue some 3 km to Surb Nshar with a fantastic view to the valley and to Horomayr church.

The church has a beautiful setting. There was a baptism taking place whilst we were visiting, so we had a glimpse of local culture.

Beautiful place! It has lovely architecture and stunning history. Easy to acess and really worth a detour from the main road.

When I made a trip with my cousin’s family to Haghpat, we stopped by the church in Odzun. This building is quite interesting. Around the church building itself has been built another wall that certainly didn’t have a defense function. Additionally, there are two pillars framed in a small wall that were staying a bit away from the church. When we visited that place we were able to witness the annual blessing of the grapes, an interesting event that I didn’t know before. I certainly recommend that place.

A beautiful 4-6th century church with a majestic view. It has a huge territory where village kids play and branches under apricot tree shadow. Church's priest Ter Ararat was very kind to show us the church and tell it's story.
