To be honest, I cannot understand those 5 stars from some people. I find hard to believe that someone can be comfortable with mouldy rooms, dirty bed sheets and bathroom and not being able to lock your room! I had booked for 3 nights with another 2 friends and when the girl showed us the room, we could not believe that anyone could sleep there ( that's why they don't accept cancellations, obs people sees that and run away, not caring about what it costed), the beds surely haven't been changed from previous customers and when asked about a lock for the door, their answer was that it was very safe " nothing happens" lol!!! As any normal person, we did leave at that moment without giving importance to the already money paid, we just wanted to leave asap. Do not recommend even one bit

Terrible experience. I have never had to leave a hotel/hostel. The worst part was that in the 30 minutes we were in the room, I got bit 12 times by fleas in my legs. When we went back to pick up our stuff, my husband got 4 more bites on his legs. They have a lot of pets, which normally we love but they must just let them go in and out of the rooms. It was also a bit loud and the rooms were depressing. I'm willing to look past all that cause we were only staying for the night but no way am I going to spend all night getting bit by fleas. Im attaching a picture of the lock they gave us to close our room too, it's incredibly pathetic

If you dont want to sleep, this hostel is perfect ! The shared spaces are great, a pool, lots of hammocks and a rooftop where you can enjoy the sunset. We stayed 3 nights : 1st there was a party on the rooftop from midnight to 6am, it was impossible to sleep, we complained to the staff who did not apologize refused to refund and said it would not happen again. 2nd and 3rd night, no party but the music from the bar starts at 7am along with the building works so you better not sleep in. Also the owner has 9 dogs, they are everywhere, even in your room and they poop on the floor, better watch your steps ! This hostel could be great but misses a good management

The staff is really nice and attentive and the place itsself is beautiful. Unfortunately when we were there the weather was rainy and cold and since the bathrooms are outside and everything is a bit overgrown by plants it was a rather unpleasant experience to take a shower. Our room was extremely humid and mouldy (matresses, pillows, ceiling..). I like the concept of the hostel, but I think it was built in the wrong place (2.000m above sea level). It's just to cold and wet for such typ of a hostel to work properly here.

The shower head fall off on my head with all the pipping from the wall… and the water kept on running on the wall…. It was dirty and the bed felt really hard to sleep, kept on waking up. Also there were 11 sleeping people in 6 people dorm room. I don’t know how that happened but they were from Israel as well as the owner of the place, so maybe the owner let that happened.. I don’t know… There are better option for you money in Salento. The rooms had no locking doors, no keys and no lockers inside to keep your passport and belongings safe… I was told that “nothing is going to happen”

Very unfriendly staff, they dont help you with anything. The rooms are very tiny and are not well cleaned. Lots of spider webs and dust around and under the beds.

FLEAS!!! FLEAS!!! FLEAS!!! GROSS!!! yes , there are at least 7 very cute dogs on the property and at least one cat. Yes, we also had at least fifteen flea bites in as many minutes being in our room. Also, the lock to your room is the same size that you would use to lock up your fourth grade diary to hide your crush from your mom. Not exactly suitable to lock up your valuables and passports. There are way better options in salento. First time I've ever left a hostel or even felt the need to post a review. GROSS!!! No wonder this place is nonrefundable before you arrive

The pictures are the biggest scam. When we entered the room, there was mold everywhere and all we could smell was mold. It was very disgusting and hard to breath. We left the place immediately. DO NOT BOOK!!

This hostel canceled my reservation and when we arrived in the evening I all of the sudden had to find a new place to stay. The attitude of Natalia was highly careless and disrespectful in contrast to Patricia which was helpful and considerate with helping us to find a place to stay nearby.

Its more like a hotel at the price of hostel!😄 It's just a great place. The nice staff, the central location, the pool, delicious food and stunning views from the roof make it without a doubt the best place to stay in Salento. highly recommend!

A very accommodating staff that welcomes everyone as family. Rooms and beds are clean and good sized. The onsite restaurant has good well prepared food at cheap prices. The roof top terrace with 360 degree views and oversized pool combine to make this hostel a "must see" experience.

Absolutely great stay here at Hilltop. Food was an excellent price and also great quality. The kind lady on reception was very welcoming. Its very close to the centre but not too close that you hear it. Nice little pool to cool off. Clean environment with plenty of outside common spaces to talk to others if thats what you want. Rooms were very clean with a large shower in our room. Plenty of hot water too! I would recommend this place.

A really beautiful spot in Salento, amazing views from the rooftop and a great outdoor area! Zohar, the owner and his 10 dogs running around were the real plus he was absolutely amazing in helping us with what we wanted to do in Salento! He recommended so much to us and was just the loveliest man!

Great hostel, awesome pool and nice view! Really comfortable beds and hot water showers. The owner is a wonderful man and will help you with what ever you may need. Best hostel in Salento no doubt.

i haven’t felt comfortable from the first moment i came there. we could not check in for an hour, even though it said it would be possible at that time. the staff was not welcoming and seemed a bit annoyed by us. there are no lockers for the big backpacks and it’s not too clean. there is no inside or social area. the rooms smell moldy and are damp. the mattresses are horrible. i felt uncomfortable the whole time.. the dogs are kinda funny but their poo is all over the place. well.. wouldn’t recommend 🤷‍♀️

Great place, amazing hospitality! We arrived after a long drive to the Hilltop Hostel with no reservation and the owner did everything he could to help us even though the place was almost full! We got a great room, everyone were very nice, the prices are good and the place is well located and designed!! In addition, there is an Awesome pool and good food. Recommended to make reservations ahead- it will be simpler when you’ll get there😊

Is a 5 only because there isn't a 6. One of the best experiences of my life. All the photos where accurate with the Hostel, and in the night is even better, all the spaces where clean, and the beds have confy blankets and lavender smell. All the staff was attentive, very funny and friendly, they even let us set the music for our wine night. Priceless experience.

When I went the place had no water, pool was not running, so make sure to ask if there is pool service before you book it. The location is great though, the beds are fine, the bathrooms were somewhat clean. It's ok if you looking somewhere cheap and for very few days.

I don’t recommend this place! Smells so bad and the people is not polite. They have Pets but look dirty. We did not stay there more than a couple of minutes and lost our money because they don’t make any refunds and that is the strategy they have for reservations. Outside the hostal smells to horse manure strongly. Pictures in booking and instagram look nice but the place is decay.

Wonderful stay. Primarily for staff and the good vibe. Zohar is very friendly. And he goes out of his way explaining and recommending things for travellers. That is important especially for younger crowd backpackers that need guidance in their travels. I had the private room and bath. It had all that I needed. The bar closes 1130 12 and it gets quite after that. So sleep was just fine for a busy hostel. would recommend this place.
