THE Plaza of Colombia. Nice statue of Simone Bolivar. Impressive buildings with Bogota mayor's building, Colombian legislature, Presidents residence nearby, a beautiful church. It also has the history of the cartel and government fighting that destroyed a building.

Many historical, cultural, and government architecture in the area. Very busy, lively, crowded, and vibrant. A lot of street vendors sell eclectic mix of food, local products, and souvenirs. Good place to feel the vibe of local people and culture. Worth visiting

Its very beautiful. There's also little carts where you can buy some alcohol mixed with some fruits? It tastes amazing. You can also take pictures with llamas. There are people that will hassle you to give you money or buy little bracelets but if you overlook that its a nice place

This is an incredible look into the heart of Bogota, Colombia, and is full of cultural history, government buildings, museums, and street vendors. The pigeons love to be fed and will pose for pictures if you have corn. There are plenty of places to purchase pigeon bait, human bait, and date bait. If you visit Bogota, this is a must-see on the list of places to go. Take a stroll through the history of Simon Bolivar y el Gran Colombia with the rich culture and history up and down these streets along the plaza.

The Bolívar square is a most important polítical, legislative and religious center of the country. There are many builds like major chatedral, nariño palace and constitutional court also a statue about the Liberator Simón Bolívar.

Plaza Bolivar in Bogotá, Colombia, is a living testament to the historical significance of Simon Bolivar in South American independence. Surrounded by iconic buildings that narrate tales of the past, the square stands as a symbol of resilience and freedom. The architecture of historic buildings like the Capitol, the Cathedral, and the Palace of Justice adds a timeless charm to the plaza, transporting visitors to an era of revolutionary fervor. The very ground beneath your feet echoes the footsteps of those who fought for the liberation of South America. What makes Plaza Bolivar truly special is the vibrant contrast it embodies. While steeped in history, the square is also a dynamic hub of contemporary life. Street performers, local vendors, and the lively energy of daily activities create a seamless blend of the past and present. It's a space where history breathes alongside the pulse of modern Bogotá. In essence, Plaza Bolivar is not merely a square; it's a convergence of timelines, a place where the echoes of independence harmonize with the rhythms of today. It's a must-visit for anyone seeking to immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of South American history while experiencing the vivacity of Bogotá's present. I have been going to this particular square since I was a kid, and it's a well-known tradition to feed the birds with corn. They are everywhere, and its a fun activity to do with family. I did as a kid, and to watch my kids do it and enjoy it as much as myself has been a blessing.

Many street sellers so try and look as little like a tourist as possible (if you don't want to attract attention!). Easy to arrive by public transport.

The square is flanked by magnificent historic buildings and has the status of Simón Bolívar which was sculpted in 1846. Standing there, you get the sense that tens of generations before you have been here & left their mark; makes you think on what mark you're going to leave. However, the best thing about the park was feeding the pigeons; It is therapeutic & so much fun! There are also llamás for kids to ride to take pictures with.

The main historical square and old centre Really big and unique, and the surrounding buildings tell their own tale of architecture and colonisation. Well worth a walk, but not much to do abound here. An idea would be to visit here on Sunday, to experience the atmosphere and street food, and then walk down the main street towards the flee market. For almost 2 km of closed pedestrian road you will experience all the fun and vigour or Colombia in a safe and busy way

It's a full on plaza. There used to be less people selling stuff and now half of the plaza is full of vendors. I'm not sure if that was a temporary market or it's permanent though. We tried the caña de azúcar juice and it was delicious! They have lots of juices to try and beautiful souvenirs.

It was an enjoyable, tasty option for a Sunday brunch. The service and food were good. However, I felt my medium skirt steak, was too raw. It was good, nevertheless, but I didn't send it back. Perhaps my opinion of medium is different than the chef's. The potato pancakes were excellent! Planning to return.

Great place to hang out if you are in la Candelaria area. Safe, and family friendly. Saturday nights are usually a little more active. You will find many street venders and performers there, and all along the strip.

When in Bogota, it is a must visit. Not all places in Bogotá are kid friendly. But this one is as kids get to run around without the danger of cars driving around. Also, many street vendors have nice and cheap things for kids to play. The square is missing something to read about its history. However we took the kids there to complement what they had learned in the museums

This is a great city square of Bogota that actually resembles the city square in Lisbon quite a bit. The new Hall of Justice isn't open just yet, but already looks beautiful. The style actually compliments the cathedral next store while both buildings maintain their identity. With the nearby street art of La Candelaria nearby it's a no-brainer to check out!

I was told that this is a most when coming to Bogotá. It is an open space surrounded by historical buildings. When visiting this or any other place in Bogotá, avoid to give the appearance of being confused or lost. There is a local phrase used for people behaving like that, it is called "Dando Papaya" - Giving Papaya. There is a consensus among locals, that by acting confused or lost, you would have more chances of getting targeted by robbers.

Very busy plaza in Bogota. The picture doesn't do justice to the crowd that was over by the cathedral. Your experience may differ but I didn't feel overwhelmed with people trying to get me to buy something. I was there on a Sunday and lots of street vendors were selling things but not harassing.

  • 5/5 Darshan S. 1 year ago on Google
Visit the square first thing in the morning to capture some amazing pictures without anyone in the background. The square comes to life by 10-11am and is a great place to hang out.

  • 5/5 Cato R. 1 year ago on Google
Awesome square in the heart of Bogotá, very close to a lot of famous landmarks such as the cathedral and the presidential palace. Definitely worth visiting and having in mind as a key landmark to visit during your stay in Bogotá! If you’re lucky you might even get to see a local protest.

  • 5/5 Justin M. 1 year ago on Google
Show up during the noon hour and you'll find it full of life, colour, and sound. Frequent marches and protests make it a very spirited environment. Lots of food and trinket vendors, lots of restaurants, lots of security. Go during daylight hours and it feels very safe

  • 5/5 Corey T. 1 year ago on Google
Located in the heart of the historical area of the city. The square includes Palace of Justice of Colombia (think of the one attacked in Nov. 1985 by the M-19 guerrillas), Primatial Cathedral of Bogotá (competed in 1823) the main attraction of the square in my opinion. Also the old palace (Bogotá's city hall since 1974) and National Capitol. Lots of locals in the plaza when we visited on a Sunday. Also a ton of street food vendors next to the Cathedral.

  • 3/5 Alexa K. 1 year ago on Google
It’s a beautiful area, the history is rich and entertaining. The building in the square are gorgeous. Just get used to someone coming up to you every 30 seconds asking for money in some way or another. There’s also tons of trash on the ground.

  • 3/5 Olga S. 1 year ago on Google
Large plaza, good views and many pigeons, but quiet dirty, loads of sketchy people to be aware of. Monument of Bolivar covered in graffiti. I recommend visiting the cathedral, very beautiful inside and has the remains of Gonzalo Jiménez de Quesada the founder of Bogotá.

  • 5/5 Nayan R. 11 months ago on Google
Lively place. I visited on Saturday Evening and witnessed dance performances and live music. Good vibes. A lot of people. I found the plaza safer than what I had read online. 20 minutes walk from the museum. I recommend visiting here if you're in the city. There are few coffe shops and vendors around.

  • 3/5 Alpha S. 11 months ago on Google
A nice political gathering, but I've seen much nicer parliamentary building in other countries, including my own Canada. Nothing much to see here other than some restos in the area. If you don't have time to visit, don't go out if your way.

Full of culture, food vendors, shops and entertainment. Loved everything about it. All the fresh fruit and juices was great. Great people and such a good time. If you're in Bogota, this is a must visit!!

Worth visiting. The main plaza within the historic center surrounded by beautiful religious and government buildings. Lots of pigeons within the area. Some vendors selling pigeon food. A nice place to take pictures of the cathedral and other government buildings.

  • 5/5 Vincent F. 9 months ago on Google
There is a lot of culture and things to do here. The best days to go are Sunday and Saturday. On those days the square is usually very lively and full of people. The street vendors might annoy you if you do not buy anything from them. It is mostly safe, just exercise caution and have common sense. There is also a beautiful basilica here too. A lot of people normally sit on the steps and eat or watch performances.

  • 5/5 Sarah 8 months ago on Google
Nice plaza to look around at the centre of the city. They have souvenirs and artisan market going on, sometimes there are different events happening here. Beaware of the llama trap tho. It’s not too too expensive but they do ask money to take photo with the llama.

  • 5/5 Jaime B. 8 months ago on Google
The surroundings are full of art, history, great food and culture, its the place from which all interesting sites of the historical centre of the city can be reached. Its a must to vosot place when in Bogota

  • 4/5 Kathy E. S. 6 months ago on Google
Crowded, bustling, noisy vibrant centre of Bogotà. I went on a Sunday and the vendors were fully set up in the square which I didn’t expect. There were so much crown I couldn’t move! Vendors sold everything from Colombian traditional bags, jewlery, Lama rides, traditional Colombian street foods, cotton candy and candy apple…it was like going to the fair or the Carnival. Police presence was heavy everywhere and lots of security guards too. It is something everyone must experience.

  • 5/5 Mely C. 5 months ago on Google
Even though is a very popular place and relatively safe, be aware of your surroundings. Never by yourself. If you want to have nice pictures go early during the morning, at the afternoons is packed.

The Plaza de Bolivar is my favorite place to visit in Bogotá. The architecture is beautiful and the pigeons are friendly. You can put out your arms and they will land on you. You can buy gorgeous beaded necklaces on the side streets off the plaza.
