My hometown’s main museum. Our most famous artist is Fernando Botero. He put our country in the art world map. Thanks to him we are known for something different than… (you know what). He has provided an invaluable contribution of his own art pieces, and donated a large selection of artifacts from his own personal collection. Thank you so much, Mr. Botero!

Must visit while in Medellín. Most descriptions are in Spanish and when we went they didn't have English speaker guides. My Spanish is intermediate level but I still enjoyed the exhibits tremendously. Give this place at least 2-3 hours and make sure to go to the top floor for Botero insanity. Highly recommend.

(Translated by Google) The Museum attracts not only for its exhibitions but also for its experiences in its surroundings, where you can appreciate the beauty of an artistic or social expression. Bringing together different lifestyles, music, learnings that make it a magical place to share culture. Stunning square and Botero sculptures but it has become an open air mall, full of people offering all kind of stuff. It is also very insecure and dirty. It is such a shame, if you decide to go, have someone local with you all the time and leave your belongings at the hotel.

Even with 40% of their exhibitions out of order, we spent a long time here admiring an incredible diversity of art. Well worth the time and the money.

I was pleasantly surprised by this museum. It's and old, grand building and from the outside I got the impression that it wouldn't be that special. I was wrong. The art, especially the third floor dedicated to Fernando Botero, was amazing. Very impressed and so happy i went.

The third level of the museum displays the botero paintings 🖼, unfortunately I couldn't take pictures. The museum is kept clean and it's easy for English speakers to understand the expositions.

For those who like modernist paintings your in for a treat. The third floor galleries are devoted to the artist Botero. I would have included photos except they are not permitted from these galleries.

What a great display of paintings and sculptures made by Botero. One can find unique paintings, and surrounding the museum (outside) there are a lot of bronce sculptures. Unfortunately inside the museum, they don't allowed to take pictures.

Wonderful museum, though the two wings make the visit slightly confusing. If course I loved the large Botero sculpture in the plaza and his substantial works in the museum. Unfortunately, no photos were allowed of the Botero paintings. The other collections are also interesting and cover a wide range of genres.

I love Botero and this Museum has all of his essence and lot of works. Beginning outside it's already great and I would encourage anyone to visit it, although be careful not to wander off too far.

The top floor is dedicated to paintings and some sculptures by Bolero. You should definitely go if you are at Bolero Plaza.

Lovely art museum with beautiful pieces from Colombian artists. I would love some more explanation of the pieces and the history of the artists. The few explanations that are there are only in Spanish. But you can take a tour inside to fix this. Definitely recommend!

The 3rd floor was completely dedicated to the famous artist Botero who also created all the sculptures that can be see outside in the public park. The other two floors were more general pieces from artists both local regions and foreign countries! You could spend hours here so it’s definitely worth the price of entry! @dontbestrangers

Small museum but the price is reflective. Cute outdoor, indoor cafe inside as well with good lattes to relax in safety out of the sun. Excellent artwork for those Botero lovers. Fantastic collection of his sculptures and paintings. No photos allowed inside.

Really nice museum i wanted to get some pictures on the third floor dedicated to Botero exclusively but i was not permitted. The area outside this museum is sketchy but this is a true gem with architecture and large murals.

18 odd k entry. Great place. Staff are militant about the impossible to follow one-way system. Really not needed when there's 3 others in the museum. Still, the exhibits are interesting and gives you a good background on Antioquia plus some of the famous artists from the area.

Lovely place to visit but avoid going to the Botero's park at night time, it is dangerous and most likely you will get robbed. During day time is fine just keep your cellphone in your pocket. The Museum is awesome and very well organized.

The Botero art in this museum is not to be missed. One of the better (prolific) displays of Botero. Also lots else to appreciate about this museum. Just wish I was able to take pictures of some of my favorite Boteros.

  • 4/5 Mehmet G. 2 years ago on Google
First of all it is not free like I read on many sites online. Large museum with lots of Botero. I don’t find his art stimulating. It’s based on a single gimmick really. The Art Deco building was more interesting than the collection to me.

Botero is the most important artist of Colombia and is a very big reason why you should visit it. But they do have a number of work by other interesting Colombians and you should take the time to explore it here.

The art at the museum is beautiful, and a lot of the exhibits are translated in English hower none of the staff I interacted with spoke English and the museum is in a very dangerous area. Dress modestly, bring a cheap phone, and brush up on your Spanish. The statues around the plaza are fun to take photos with and the museum itself is full of amazing art with a whole floor dedicated to Fernando Botero, and two more floors with art from various Colombians artists which to me was the highlight. I wasn't able to able to see everything while I was there, I would love to go again. Its also the safest place to be in that area so we recommend using that as a hub to pull out your phones and make calls because otherwise your liable to get your phone stolen out of your hands.

  • 5/5 unbretonmalouin A. 1 year ago on Google
A very nice museum! You'll get to see a lot of work from Botero, paintings, drawings, sculptures, etc. There's also other artists displayed and it's pretty interesting to see as well. The building is very nice and clean, and the personal is welcoming too! What would improve the visit is some plan of the building. Obviously you can't get lost but you can miss a few things if you don't pay attention about your situation in the building. It's a go!

I liked Museum of Antioquia. Entrance was $4.35. There was no wait on a weekday. 3 floor of modern art, the 3rd floor is entirely dedicated to Bodero but no pictures are allowed. Located right off the metro A stop Parque Berrio. Be careful of the surrounding area, nothing will happen but keep an extra eye out and try not to use your phone on the street.

Cool place. Give yourself at least 2 hours. The security staff needs a ton of training. Followed me around, walking in front of me while I’m looking at exhibits, just poorly trained for a nice museum.

  • 5/5 Kevin Z. 1 year ago on Google
It’s a quick 10 minute walk from the Jose Maria market as a random fact. The space outside is okie. Fill with vendors and we just want to check out the museum in lpeace. The area could use a good cleaning thou. Beside that, this museum inside is so peaceful and beautiful. Big enough for to explore and yet small enough to finish in a hour or so.

You can't take pictures of the Botero exhibit, which is huge! Gah! Apart from that, a really exceptional museum highlighting Colombian and Latin American art through the ages. There is a nice cafe on the ground floor.

A great museum for either being located near public transport and also have all sorts of exposition. Modern arts, Botero, history and also some theater. It's a must see it!

  • 5/5 Vyara D. 4 months ago on Google
The museum itself is really pretty, has a lot to offer and it's definitely worth it. The area around it though is really unsafe!!! Be careful when you visit and try to just get in and out.

By now, the best museum we’ve visited in Medellin. It has a lot of history and references to the Colombian art, and it’s very opening. There’s even a big room for kids where they can have fun while learning about Botero as an artist. My personal favorite part was in the first floor of the whole building, there is a space for an exposition that resembles heaven, purgatory and hell, and at the end of all of it you can hear the cry of cows being murdered and if you go further, a dark small room with a wooden figure of a saint shadowing some scenes of exorcisms. Very freshening and awesome. I recommend it so much.

Fantastic exhibits. The Botero hall was my favorite. Also the staff are very friendly and always willing the help. Moving around the muesem can be a little confusing. Hard to tell which is the proper way of centering a exhibit. Very few visitors when I can on Saturday mid day in Feb 2021.

I have been to the museum twice and sadly both times I felt like I didn't spend enough time there. They have several floors of permanent installations and the cafe at the bottom of their atria is charming. I'd allot three or more hours to comfortably see all of the art and sit in the cafe for a bit Despite being in the center of the city of feels like a nice getaway.
