It was plan to travel Purulia during Durga Puja, 2022. Purulia, where nature embrace its habitants, is one which is residing near our heart. Only demand was to stay at the Hill top. With our previous experience and googling we know there is Govt accommodation there. But booking is little difficult as one has to visit their office at Kolkata and book it. In this situation, google helped us. We found Kalyan Forest Resort. With all photos and descriptions, it was very appealing. Then we contacted resort directly and booked two rooms for four of us. On 1st of Oct, evening we checked in Kalyan Forest Resort and we knew it was not a mistake. Resort is situated amidst nature and surrounded by green forests. Being out of hustle bustle of tourist spots it gives proximity to all places worth seeing like Hill top, Murgma Lake, Upper and Lower Dam. Bamni Falls and others. After reaching at Resort, we went for short walk around it as it was evening and dark outside. Next to resort there is one small red color cottage, very neat. We were really surprised by seeing that. But our interest increased further when we saw that it is primary school. Next day morning we were discussing with resort Manager. He gave us insight about the locality, Resort and the said School. This place is dominated mainly by Santals. Being far of city and surrounded by forests there is little scope for jobs or education. Young people need to go far from home to earn from their family or for education and those are also not available by enough numbers. Once one person Mr. Kalyan Ghosh visited Ajodhya Pahar and met Resort Manager. Resort Manager was having some land and Mr. Ghosh proposed to have Resort there. Mr. Ghosh started one Trust for this purpose and this property was entrusted to the Trust. Construction was completed by 2020 and after that operation started. This resort gave and continues to give job opportunity for the local youth. And our experiences say that they are extremely efficient and not to mention their cordial behaviour to the guests. Even foods are also prepared by them and we must admit that those are of very high quality and tested awesome. Apart from Resort and job to local Youth, Trust thought of education of local children. They need to go to far away for education. Further after school hours there was no one who support them to continue leaning, as they were first generation for education. With this idea in mind Trust has started primary school which is mentioned already. This school not only gives education of local children, it helps to support them after school hour also. Not to mention this unique concept improved quality of life of the locals surrounding to the Resort. More this kind of enthusiasts come forward, we can beat the odds. Loved the treks organised by the management. If you are looking for an adventure filled Ayodhya pahar trip, definitely stay at this place. Food is great. The stay is cozy too.. !

A beautiful, serene place amidst Ayodhya Hill top. Stayed there for four days with family. Service is good. Well-maintained rooms. Food is good, though the quantity of few items could be increased, given the price. The price of food is average. Few food items are not available but mentioned in the menu. This might be because this is off-season time. The best things about this resort are the beautiful cottages and amazing landscape views. Since it is in the hilltop, travelling to different places might be a bit of a problem but that's how resorts are. Loved staying here.

The Resort is situated in very good place and made beautifully. We (myself & wife) and my 3 friends with family stayed here 2 nights and enjoyed nice food, overall we enjoyed very much. . The behavior of all the staffs were very good. I suggested my other friends to visit this place and stay in this Kalyan Forest Resort . Resort is maintained Nicely. The maintenance of rooms can be improved.

Except ta service and food, everything is excellent. The food ordered is too much delayed. Sometimes they even forget about your order. Food quality and quantity is below average compared to prices. Their Baranti resort service and food are way better than Ajodhya one.

Very serene place. Resort is in the middle of a forest. Having all amenities, clean room and washroom. Food is really really nice. Staff's behaviour is very polite.

A perfect place to spend your vacation or weekend with friends and family. This resort has various typea of rooms available ( cottage, tent, suite) with all amenities and is locatuon in the heart of Ajodhya Hills. The best part of this resort is the way to reach, which covers a hill road of 2kms providing the mesmerising view of ajodhya hills. The resort has a good service in terms of food and the staff. Contact the owner of head in charge to get a knowledge about the nearby region exploring waterfall and a nearby village where few shops are available to get anything you require.

Excellent location with excellent food. I am visiting second time at this resort and as usual I didn't get disappointed.Stuffs are very cooperative, Polite and we received very good collaboration from every stuff member of this resort. Keep up this good vibes.

Excellent ambiance. The food is of very good quality. The staffs are well behaved and always ready to look after the guests. We wish them a very bright future in tourism.

The stay was very comfortable. Mr.Narayan along with the other staff are very helpful and their hospitality is up to the mark . The food was budget friendly the quality and the quantity of the food was amazing . The rooms could have been maintained a bit along with the washrooms but other than that the stay was awesome.

We had a great experience during our stay at the hotel. All the staffs were really friendly and very cooperative. We definitely recommend others to come to the place when they visit Ajodhya hills, Purulia. Unfortunately, we faced a situation where a group stayed on the top floor of the same cottage as us where at night after drinking a lot, they were using such abusive languages in such loud voices that we got disturbed. At first we ignored the matter thinking everyone came here to enjoy their leisure time but the matter extended so much that my family, where I also have a small kid and my wife, daughter was also there. We couldn't sleep after a long day because of such chaos which just increased as the night passed. We were then bound to complain to the authority about it. First time, they were told politely but still no change in their behaviour was seen, then we had to complain again because we couldn't tolerate such languages, it exceeded the limit. So then they had a fight with the authority though they tried to handle it politely but it was of no use. So the higher authority had to take a step and they themselves decided to check out then and there at night and the manager didn't stop them. We are really thankful to the whole staff of the resort that after this incident they gave us full security personally the whole night since we were a bit scared especially since my family was there. Otherwise our stay was amazing there, food, view, behaviour was really good. We will definitely like to visit the place again.

Me and my wife went there in October 1st week 2023 for a weekend vacation out of the hustle and bustle of city and workloads. And this resort didn't dissapoint at all. Infact on our last day we were thinking of extending one day just to enjoy the peaceful surroundings of the resort. The location is amidst the forest reserve atop Ajodhya hill. Cottages are well maintained. Completely wooden architecture gives a different vibe. All the amenities are present. The surroundings are well maintained. Pets add their charm to it. (Ducks, Dogs, Rabbits, Cockatoos). As there was rain when we stayed there, the fog, clouds, mist added their part to the beauty of the nature & resort. Service and behaviour of every staff was very good. The food was also pretty good. A place for all types of traveller to enjoy their weekend be it family, couple, friends etc.

It was a wonderful experience to stay here in this resort. The rooms are beautiful and the service is very good. It's situated on the Ayodhya hill top but little in interior. The place is amazing.

Did you know that a place like Ayodhya hill, which is very near to Kolkata, has such lust silent meadows? I did not know until I went on a short weekend vacation with family to Kalyan Forest Resort in Kalha. The resort has a tribal themed accommodation, which comes along with all modern facilities. The resort employs 30+ local youth who with their rustic charm add to the happy vibe of the resort. The food is simply delectable and if you speak to the staff they will arrange for few local cuisines. We were lucky to have the resort owner, Mr Kaushik Ghosh staying on premises during our visit. Had great adda and knew about the local art, culture and lifestyle. Overall it was a trip that will be cherished. Enjoyed the rains, Chou dance and the local drink 'Mahuya'. Will be back during the winters for sure.

Kalyan Forest Resort is one of the most beautiful resorts I have ever visited. The employees of the Resorts are very very nice, the location of the Resort is also excellent. And the food was just delicious and great. I will definitely go only for their employees and their excellent behavior ....

What a serene ambience this place creates! The woody rooms with modern touch was just exotic, the etiquette of the staffs were par above excellence, the foods were utterly delicious. Amazing stay . The behaviour of all the staff members were so nice that we will never forget. The food was very nice and budget friendly. The rooms were very beautiful and comfortable. The scenic beauty was wonderful and same was the location. I will recommend everybody to come and stay here.

I stayed here with my family and my pet from 18th to 21st November 2022 and I was surprised to have gotten such a lovely and amicable stay in the Ayodhya pahar. The room was extremely spacious with lovely ambience throughout the resort. The food delicious and cheap and the quantity, dear lord, perfect to say the least. The behaviour of all the employees was lovely and I would want to recommend this to all the visitors who want to stay in a beautiful place with their furry friends. Special mention to how well they prepared my pet's food and to Rio, their lab. She's the cutteeeest and two other strays! I loved that they took care of them like family. Thank you for having us and giving us an experience,. definitely being your regular.

Commendable behavior right from the manager to all other level. Never felt that we are away from home. Food quality was awesome and were served at the least possible time. Tea was excellent and was even served on request at very early morning hours when the kitchen was yet to open. Deserves 5star rating for Care, concern and cleanliness. We were in room named PALASH which was very spacious and cozy. They were so caring that while we were on our way to the resort, they contacted us to know if we were facing any problem in reaching the resort. However only Jio sim works here. Of course the resort has nothing to do for it.

It's a very good resort. Really, ambiance was awesome. Staffs are also very well behaved. Food was good too. About the room were clear & very comfortable. We stayed over there 2 nights and we enjoyed tent & mud house both in a place. Very nice experience with it. My child also enjoyed a lot specially with Rio (labrador) very adorable pet. And I have to mention about Kalyan Forest Resort's pre-primary school for Tribal people, is a very good initiative they have taken for those poverty-stricken children. Overall 5 out of 5

Excellent hospitality, superb staff members. Location is great, in a valley, not too far from the Hill Top, but serene and far from the crowd. Food options are great and made to order. Rooms have all basic amenities and the facility has power backup.

The location attracts people who are looking for some offbeat stays. Great food and amazing service. Had a lovely time at the resort. The people were very welcoming, polite and friendly. Can't wait to visit again!

The resort is situated about 10 minutes of car ride away from the hill top. This is the place that I would recommend to anyone who desires to experience nature to the fullest. Coming to the resort itself, hospitality was beyond perfect. The staff members were humble and friendly, we even had a round of carrom. Food was good both in quality and quantity.

It is a very nice place to stay in holidays , excellent food , prompt customer service , serene natural view and ethnic cultural events and lot more to discover there !

We stayed here from 23rd to 26th October. Undoubtedly, the best resort in Purulia. Be it Rooms, Food , Ambience or the Staff Behaviour, KFR is the best. Need to mention specially about Manager Narayan Da and Staff Jayanta. I love Purulia and and from now onwards i will only stay in this resort.

Spent 3 days of Pujas at Kalyan Forest Resort and i must say, it was totally a great experience. The decor of rooms, the cleanliness standards maintained, quality and variety of food (considering the remote location) are all very good. Best thing about the place are its staff, their behaviour, their helpful and friendly attitude makes the stay more comfortable. Only drawback (if at all it is), i would say is, no internet. However, it gives the chance to spend the evening watching local Chow dance/Santhali dance, thus contributing to the maintenance of the Art form and those who are practising it for their livelihood. I would definitely recommend this to my friends, relatives, and anyone desirous of visiting Purulia, as location wise also, Kalyan Resort is at a reasonable distance from all the major tourists spots of Ayodhya Pahar Circuit.
