Its a calm, quiet and beautiful place. If you are a nature lover then you will surely like this. And if are willing to walk around this Island, there are more beautiful sceneries. The most highlighting thing in this Island is the boat rinding around the lake and the sunset view. If you are a nature lover or a photographer then you must visit this place. Make sure you are visiting this place in a sunny day, because rain can ruin your entire trip in this Island.

This is a beautiful place to view sunset. It is world popular for sunsets. Take a vanchi from the kadavu and view the sunset from the middle of the lake. Even walk through the island is also really nice. The boat ride may cost is max 500 (bargain).

A calm place to relieve oneself from the busy life of the city.... with some kayaking activity in the backwater to watching the sunset from a boat stationed at the middle of the great lake, and a stumpous meal adds merry to a calm weekend day..

If you go a little inland fromEramallur in Ernakulam Arur, you can reach Kakkathurut. It's a small placethat used to have a lot of foreignersand so on but lately there aren't manypeople. If you arrive in theevening, if you talk to the locals, you can take a nice stroll along thebackwaters.

A wonderful place with its own lush green surrounding , surrounded by full water. To reach the place we have to take a small boat to the island and guess what rest is all magical.

A small and scenic island. * You should take small boats to reach there. * Friendly peoples and family there. All most near to 90 families in the island. They were so friendly with us, gave us food. * Small shops there. The shop is near to the boat jetty. Evening tea and snacks are good. * The place is beautiful for us, but when asking them they will say that it's really difficult to live there. ( If emergency happen they should take the boat to get to the town, and also drinking water problem).

It is an awesome spot for nature lovers and environmentalists... The forest cover is so inspiring and the cool breeze stabilizers the atmosphere even in the extreme weather conditions.. The native folks are innocent and makes it a peaceful place for living...

A calm and quiet place..It is a small island share you could visit one of the best Sunset ever in Kerala.. To be at Kakkathuruth for Sunset is considered as one the best destination in the world by National Geographic's Travel Magazine. Just go there z enjoy the village walk , canoe ride and the sunset.

Stayed at 'Boutique resort' called Kayal Island Resort at Kakathuruthu which was terribly expensive and not worth it at all. Food was also very expensive and not served generously. Kakkathuruthu as such is over hyped. The atmosphere which has been praised so much is there all over the backwaters of Alleppy. The island has lot of stagnant pools of water and teems with mosquitoes. All wastes from the houses along the water front runs into the kayal which is sad.

Such a beautiful island tucked away in the south of India. We were fortunate to stay at Kayal Island Retreat to enjoy the island. The ride along the waters are mesmerizing. Walking through the island you see how much soul it has. Loved to meet the locally people. Would definitely recommend a visit!

Nothing in there, just plain waterlogged land. If you need a real Village feel, then it's okay for a visit.

A beautiful island surrounded by water on all four sides. Tourists mostly come here to see the sunset. If you pay ten rupees, you can reach the island by boat from the shore.
