Karingachira St. George's Jacobite Syrian Church of Jacobite Syrian Christian Church, established in 722 AD (Makaram 13), is one of the ancient churches of the Syriac Orthodox Church. St. Thomas, one of the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ is the founder of the ancient church in India. Christian writers and historians from the 4th century refer to the evangelistic work of Apostle Thomas in India, and the Indian Christians ascribe the origin of their church to the labours of the apostle in the 1st century The church is located near Hill Palace, Thripunitura, Kochi. The church is named after Saint George. The Katthanar (Vicar) of Karingachira was considered the representative of the Nasarani community of the erstwhile Cochin State.

You can enter by foot through the Southern gate of this church. Please enter with your vehicle into this church parking space through the Eastern entry gate along the seaport-airport road after the T junction ahead - if YOU are travelling from Thripunithura municipality into this shrine that is situated in the Thrikkakkara municipality limits. The church is frequented by believers from all over the state of Kerala. These photos were taken at the Eastern entrance to this church along the Seaport-Airport road. There is a bus stop 🚫 near this entrance gate, a U-turn and a taxi stand also exist in front of it to make traffic congestions a nightmare. The availability of car parking space is ample enough.

This old church is a divine beauty. There is a lot of parking place. The vintage look of the entire church has been maintained even after the construction of the new building. A well-made concrete cross structure at the beginning of the church is an added ambience. Interior and exterior looks have been made to go even with the vintage feel. There is a well-maintained and protected tree that serves as a shade during a hot day.

A calm and quiet place next to one of the busiest junctions in this area, but as I said once you enter the church, you are in a different world, you won't even hear the traffic and the Altar is massive and majestic... The prayer hall is cool and huge and we'll ventilated.. you won't feel tired at all listening to long prayers before weddings ( i had gone there for a wedding 🙂).. All in all a great place of worship, ample parking area and a spacious parish hall adjacent..

An old church with calm and pleasant atmosphere. It can easily accommodate large numbers of devotees. The extensive parking area it self is an added attraction considering the present vehicle density. The attached party hall is also spacious and well maintained. The availability of public conveyance, proximity to bus stand and railway station make it a busy centre.
