(Translated by Google) Azraq Water Reserve is one of the nature reserves in Jordan located near the city of Azraq (Jordan). It was named after it and it consists of a wetland. The Azraq Reserve is located in Jordan, in the Azraq Oasis, in the eastern desert of Jordanian lands, with an area of 12 square kilometers. It is about 120 km from the capital, Amman, and it is near the Shomari Reserve. Named after this name in relation to the Azraq Aquatic Oasis, which forms part of its area and is covered by ponds, swamps and water plants. An estimated half a million birds pass through it annually. Azraq is a place of residence for migratory birds between Africa and Asia, and about 307 species of birds have been registered there. Azraq Reserve was considered a water area of international importance for migratory birds ... The Azraq Reserve is also rich in plant and animal wildlife, and it is semi-covered with aquatic plants such as allies, reeds, ark, and local aromatic aphids. Among the most important wild animals are jackal, red foxes, striped hyena, wolf, lynx, and many rodents (Original)

A beautiful place, an amazing nature. If you want to enjoy the hidden beautiful nature of Jordan you have to visit this place. The staff are really nice, professional and very friendly. They showed us the whole place! They offered us water and took care of us the whole time! I’d definitely visit this place again. The entry fees are not expensive at all. Beautiful place to visit with your family, friends and your significant other! I totally recommend this place. God bless Jordan, Jordan First! 🇯🇴♥️

I recently visited the Azraq Wetland Reserve and had a nice experience observing some animals. The place offers a glimpse of wildlife, although it's unfortunate that there's a lack of water affecting the site. The staff was exceptionally kind and helpful during my visit. Overall, my experience was positive, and I appreciated their efforts to maintain the reserve.

Beautiful place to visit with the family. Enjoyed the desert oasis that has a well maintained 1km boardwalk track that takes you through and over the oasis ponds and by the 1,300 year old Ummayad built water conveyor wall. Unique example of a diverse water rich ecosystem that exists in the middle of a very dry desert.

Azraq Wetlands Reserve Azraq / Jordan One of my favourite places to visit during the period of February to April... When the birds from around the world come, stay, breed and relax during its trip to the hot lands.. Also, alot of rare fish is found there especially the Sirhany Kind which can't live anywhere else 8n the world except there. Highly recommend for parents with kids where a family atmosphere

We as tourists have to pay 8 JD per person to see 4 birds on a small lake. That,s not worth the money if you come from a country where you have lakes all around. But if the money helps to preserve the reserve it is ok.

We had an excellent family experience at the reserve! Our guide Ja'far, was thoughtful and patient as he offered great information and entertained our curious questions. We opted for the 3km buffalo hike. Saw more than 12 types of birds, no buffalos, but that didn't take away from our experience. We had missed the peak migration season but we absolutely loved getting to spot the birds we did. Definitely worth a second visit! There's a nice playground and a small informative exhibition that plots the deterioration of the beautiful wetland over several decades. Definitely get your professional zoom lens (the ones here are my phone ones) and if you have one get a fancy binocular. I had to juggle between Merlin, binocular and camera! Instead open to just pause and view the majestic animals from the birdhide.

Amazing place to have a walk and watch the birds, the best time is in the early morning, bring food and beverage with you cuz it will be a nice place to have a picnic. There's an entry fee depends on the trail.

What a wonderful surprising gem. Beautiful nature, peaceful and respectful environment, and knowledgeable staff. I did not expect to find such a place in the middle of the desert. We visited in autumn and even at that time of year there was still water. Our guide, Anwar, was very knowledgeable about the ecosystem and local species. The wetlands reserve is definitely worth a visit. Navigating the tail was easy and safe. The trail is mostly flat, with a few steps and areas with uneven ground. The boardwalks through the water were well maintained. The paths showed animal and vehicle tracks, and looked like they may get muddy when the water levels are higher. The displays inside the entrance centre were very nicely done. Our visit was very informative, and I left with a much better understanding of Jordan's nature and water systems. Suitable for younger children as long as they're up for a the walk. There is an outdoor jungle gym play area inside the reserve, near the entrance centre. Tip: plan your visit for the morning rather than the afternoon, in order to improve your chances of seeing more birds and possibly water buffalo.

There is a lot of walking and seeing birds such as the spinners, the sarhan and the buffalo, there are two paths, one short the penis pass and the other long is called the buffalo corridor, but I recommend choosing the short pass because it can be seen buffalo from it, thank Murad and alum from the family of Alhwait where they enrich us with a group of Generally useful information, cleanliness is excellent and there are not a lot of visitors due to the remote area (Original)

You can enjoy the natural beauty, and take amazing photos. Observing the Sarhan fish, and the immigration of birds ((I think the best time to see birds is on April and November))

Sleeping in recycled building surrounding by the beautiful sounds of nature. Staff is very welcoming and supportive. The rooms are very clean. High water pressure hot water. Be sure to go before bird migration season begins or you will find it almost empty, just a few birds. I wish they put a restaurant there to enjoy nature. The tour will only take 30 minutes, its a small park.

I will start with the pros first; the place itself is nice, you can hear the birds and see some of them. Anyhow, it takes you a two hour drive from Amman to get there. The entrance fees are too high in comparison with the experience. The water is so dirty it’s literally black. They are not taking care of it at all. It’s like a deserted place. With some good standards I think they can save the fish and the biosphere of the reserve.

It is a good place to be visited in the summer time. The location is managed properly and we can get 2 options; 1 km journey and 3 km guided journey. The morning is ideal to watch birds. I would recommend the 3 km trail. Both are walking trails. The price for 1 km journey for a Jordanian is 6 jod and 8 jod for a foreigner. 9 jod for Jordanian and 12 jod for a Foreigner if you take a 3 km trail. 4:30 pm the place is closed.

This place is completely under rated and is easily on par with the Coliseum in Rome. The views from the temple are incredible! It is a fantastic day out which allows you to combine historical sight seeing with moderate activity (there is a lot of walking involved). Great for children to have some space to not only learn but to enjoy the out doors. Wear comfortable shoes and take a drink/snack with you although there is a range of things you can buy there including some decent souvenirs. There is also a modern visitors centre and new bathrooms.

In the center of the city is the Gold River, above which Roman bridges were built to connect the east and west of the city. Jerash is one of the most preserved sites of Roman architecture in the world outside of Italy, and to this day, the streets are still colonnaded, the baths, theaters, public squares and arches are in exceptional condition. , Which indicates human settlement at this site for more than 7,500 years. The city reached its peak at the time of the Romans at the beginning of the third century AD, and during that golden age its population reached nearly 20,000 people. Jerash was also prosperous at the time of the Umayyads, but the Galilee earthquake in 749 destroyed large parts of the city, and successive earthquakes, the most important of which were the earthquake in Damascus in 847, led to additional destruction that contributed to its ruin, however, and in the early twelfth century, in 1120, it was Jerash, a garrison of forty soldiers, were stationed there by order of Atabek Damascus Zahir al-Din Tughtakin belonging to the Seljuk state They had deliberately transformed the Temple of Artemis in Medina into a fortress, and in the year 1121, Baldwin II, king of the Kingdom of Jerusalem, occupied it and destroyed it. Then the Crusaders deserted Jerash and retreated towards Sakib, on their eastern borders. Jerash remained deserted until it re-emerged at the beginning of the Ottoman era in the sixteenth century. According to the 1596 census, its population was 12 places (family / house), all of them Arab Muslims, and there were two people working to serve the mosque and the zawiya (school). However, excavations in the city since 2011 indicate that Jerash was settled before the Ottoman period, as the excavations shed light on the period of the Middle Islamic era, and resulted in the discovery of a number of buildings and pottery in the northwestern part of the city that date back to the Mamluk era. In 1806, the German traveler Ulrich Jasper Zeitzen arrived in Jerash and wrote about the monuments he saw, which drew the world's attention to them, and the traveler began to visit them. The ancient city was discovered through a series of excavations that began in 1925 and continued to this day. Among its most prominent historical figures is the famous philosopher and mathematician Nicomachus of Garracene. Jerash is an amazing blend of Greco-Roman and Oriental influences. A great place to visit during the spring with its beautiful rolling hills and lush greenery, Jerash has a rhythm not seen anywhere else in Jordan. Also, every year Jerash hosts the Jerash Festival of Culture and Arts, a three week summer program filled with folk dance, music, and theatrical performances. Nice place where you can watch birds

  • 5/5 lauren p. 2 years ago on Google
An interesting place, especially considering its importance for migrating birds. The gentleman at the reception was very kind and explained everything in detail. The short trail is 1km and the long one is 3.5km. The long trail is for a minimum of 3 people and it includes a guide. This is 9jd per person. The short one is 6jd and without a guide. This is for residents. For non-residents your pay a few extra jd. It's a shame the place is now 12% of its original size and they have to pump water into the reserve to keep it alive.

Amazing landscape of wetlands, the best season to visit the reserve is from April onwards to see green landscapes with amazing lakes, besides the big variety of birds during the migration season Really recommend for families day hike (the have two trails) One is 1 km self guided trail And one is 3 km with a local guide

What a wonderful surprise: a wetland in the middle of the desert. The trails are well marked with signs to help you understand what you are looking at. The best part was observing the birds. There are observation buildings that allow you to watch the birds comfortably while not being seen. The receptionist advised that April and September- October are the best times to see the birds migrating between Africa and Europe.

Amazing nature, if you need a break from your hectic busy life. Unfortunately the water is being pumped to Amman randomly, this lead to desertification.

It is OK but small and not overwhelming. Nice to get out of the city but nothing special if have seen anything outside of Jordan

  • 4/5 Kevin W. 6 years ago on Google
Unfortunately there is hardly any wet left at these wetlands. They have started pumping water back into the wetlands, which is a start, but they still have a long way to go. Center is very informative and there are still lots of birds that migrate through here that you can see if you time your visit right.

Very nice staff they let us in just in front of closing time. We took the short trail (like 15-20 minutes of walking), information in English on signs. Nice museum about the history of the Wetland. Worth the money since they use it to protect and reserve this area.

You won't see any fireworks and have to be very lucky to see one of the more "interesting" birds, but it's an important place and you can see the influence human intervention has had in this beautiful place

The stuff are friendly and welcoming. They speak English. The weather there is very hot. Beautiful nature, perfect for pictures. They have seats. The prices for (non Jordanian) expensive especially not residence
