We
took
the
safari
and
we
enjoyed
the
experience.
The
driver
and
guide
was
very
knowledgeable
not
only
of
the
fauna
but
also
the
flora.
We
stopped
a
few
times
to
see
up
close
some
of
the
local
shrubs
learning
about
their
features
and
properties.
We
saw
a
good
number
of
Oryxes
roaming
free.
What
a
memorable
thing
to
see
these
splendid
creatures
in
their
original
ancestral
habitat!
The
Shaumari
Wildlife
Reserve
Visitor
Center
does
a
very
good
job
introducing
the
geology,
flora
and
fauna
of
the
region
of
Jordan's
Eastern
Badia
to
the
visitor.
Information
signs
complete
with
diagrams
and
maps
allow
one
to
learn
loads
in
a
very
friendly
way.
Signs
are
in
English
and
Arabic.
For
those
with
an
eye
for
history
and
archaeology,
there
are
two
cases
that
contain
carved
basalt
blocks
one
with
a
floral
representation
of
a
palm
tree
and
a
the
other
with
the
mythological
creature
of
Pegasus.
They
come
from
the
Umayyad
Period
reservoir
located
in
the
other
RSCN
Reserve
of
Azraq.
Most
other
carved
slabs
are
exhibited
in
one
of
the
rooms
of
the
Azraq
Castle.
Next
to
the
Visitor
Center
there
is
a
children's
playground
for
the
little
ones
complete
with
good
shade,
slides,
swings
and
see-saws.
There's
even
a
sun
dial
on
the
floor.
