We arrived here from Amman at about 2pm because our hotel room was not ready yet and we had some time to spent. It looked very empty, just two more cars were at the entrance, so we were not sure if it was even open. When we came to the entry, we were greeted immediately and told them that we want to do the 1 hour safari tour. We were able to use the toilets in the visitor center and although we were only two persons, the guide waited for us with a car outside and immediately started the tour. He told us a lot of interesting things and we saw some bucks. It was a very nice tour! Thank you

It's first wildlife reserve in Jordan and it was established in 1975 by the Royal Society For The Conservation of Nature (RSCN) as a Breeding Center for the Endangered Animals in the Middle East such as the Arabian Oryx and Sand Gazelle and Asiatic Wild Honger and Houbarah Bustard ant the other unique kinds and you can enjoy in this reserve by making arabian oryx Safari tour in converter jeep (african style) or Cycling tour or Hiking trail.

A small reserve committed to the preservation and reintroduction of rare animal species into Jordan. An excellent and well informed guide took us round the reserve. My sole interest was to see Arabian Oryx in their natural habitat, and was delighted ti do just that.

While I was excited to see the animals, the weather didn't cooperate, which limited my sightings. The staff was a bit different from what I expected, but they were helpful in guiding us. One aspect that stood out was the excellent cars they provided for exploring the reserve, which added to the overall experience. Despite the challenges, I'm hopeful that a return visit under better conditions will allow me to fully appreciate the reserve's beauty and wildlife.

We took the safari and we enjoyed the experience. The driver and guide was very knowledgeable not only of the fauna but also the flora. We stopped a few times to see up close some of the local shrubs learning about their features and properties. We saw a good number of Oryxes roaming free. What a memorable thing to see these splendid creatures in their original ancestral habitat! The Shaumari Wildlife Reserve Visitor Center does a very good job introducing the geology, flora and fauna of the region of Jordan's Eastern Badia to the visitor. Information signs complete with diagrams and maps allow one to learn loads in a very friendly way. Signs are in English and Arabic. For those with an eye for history and archaeology, there are two cases that contain carved basalt blocks one with a floral representation of a palm tree and a the other with the mythological creature of Pegasus. They come from the Umayyad Period reservoir located in the other RSCN Reserve of Azraq. Most other carved slabs are exhibited in one of the rooms of the Azraq Castle. Next to the Visitor Center there is a children's playground for the little ones complete with good shade, slides, swings and see-saws. There's even a sun dial on the floor.

as can see from the pics - 3 types of animals to see at the visitors center ( didn't try safree tour ) - seating area are not that comfortable and need to be worked on - there are no walking or hiking tracks - the water line need to be fixed - the employees are very nice and respectful overall for me it wasn't worth the trip from amman to Azraq as its more of a park than a reserve

Great place to release city stress and feel the isolation with the natural landscapes and native animals. Dont forget to drink some tea with Wormwood.

Lovely experience, congratulations for your hard work. Small piece of advice: the female cat you have there should be spayed after her kittens get a little older.

The hospitality is great . The staff friendly and eager to help. Need to be more active and talking care of the visitors when arrived because nothing is prepared to receive visitors in holidays and staff inside the reserve ins't there. We hope to see more events and have a tour inside the reserve to deserve the long journey we made as a family.
