I love the idea of such a place exist in jordan. We arrived early, there was a nice play ground between native trees to keep the kids happy. The tour was amazing and the guide was extremely well informative. The animal were healthy and looked happy. Far till now I've been there 3 times and planning on revisiting. Highly recommended

An absolutely fantastic wildlife sanctuary. All of the animals have been rescued from neglect or illegal ownership or war torn areas. Extensive expansion going on now. Adding new areas for the soon to be added monkeys and more. Each of the wildlife pens are absolutely huge and are natural environment setups. The wildlife park is over 100 hectares in size. The electrical used on site is Solar and the water used is collected rain and runoff. Soon to be added are gardens to grow the required vegetables from the animals. Currently have numerous Lions, lionesses and Bengal tigers and bears and a spotted heyenna. Unlike many wildlife areas, these animals are healthy looking and obviously well taken care of now. A very nice visitor center and Cafe on site at the entrance. Get yourself a cup of tea while you wait for the bus to take you up to the wildlife area. It is a guided walking tour with extremely informative guides. Our guide spoke English as well as Arabic. This is the time to go, crowds are small now and will only increase in size once this covid crisis ends. Get out and see a great wildlife park while you can. Please do everyone a favor and leave small children at home for the sake of the other visitors.

When we first arrived, we sat in a very tidy place with beautiful landscapes, shops for sitting, and a café for something to drink or eat. We stayed for about 15 minutes until we got off the bus. We enjoyed the time we spent staying awake. The bus took us to the shelter, like 3 minutes on the bus We walked among the animals, and the trip guide, “Ammar,” was very attentive to the group, and as we walked, he talked about the animals, how they were rescued, where they were from, their ages, and all the sweet details you know about the animals. He was kind and helpful, and if you had a question in mind, he would answer it for you. The animals are sitting in nature, and you walk, of course, in a fence, but the space is large, and it is apparent that care is taken for them, and everything is clean and organized. The area is safe and we enjoyed the trip a lot. The walk was an hour and 1 kilometer, and the road was not difficult to walk

Wonderful place, very beautiful, they have a lot of animals like lions, tigers, bears and hyenas, very respectful and helpful guide, the prices is good, the tour should be a little longer, highly recommended for families and children, available play area for kids and cafe for drinks, toilets are available and its very clean; more wildlife coming in a few months (as they informed us), and I'll be back to check new animals as soon as I know they arrive.

this place is just Amazing! they are taking good care of the animals. it's safe for both the animals and the visitors.. the security is really high standards. but if you are thinking of visiting this place please keep in mind that it's a sanctuary not a zoo! animals need to feel safe and not bothered by visitors. it would be great if the management if the place put a limit on the number of visitors for each tour and also each day.

A sanctuary is not a zoo, I feel this is a very important note to highlight as I’ve noticed that most of the reviews complaining about the number of animals in sight and the point of the place is not to entertain people but to help animals heal and try to release them into their natural environment. That been said; the staff is incredible, our guide was Ahmad and he was passionate about all the info he explained to the group. Generally is was a great experience

Amazing animal shelter, you get to see and get very close to some beautiful creatures such as Lions, Tigers, Bears, and more. Each group of visitors walk through the shelter with a guide that tells you more about the shelter itself and the history of each animal, their origins , how did they end up here, what do they eat, what type of enrichment activities do they get and all you need to know about the animals. The shelter also has its own cafe areas where you can enjoy your morning coffee with a great view of the mountains of Jerash. The place is usually very busy on weekends so I recommend going on a weekday to enjoy the full experience and get to ask the guide as many questions as you want. My personal favorite were Sukar and Looz , the 2 brown bears.

Nice place to visit in Jordan. I have some thoughts tho. 1- please put one location on Google Maps, the map led us to unfinished road from the back and took us about 8-10 minutes to get out and another 10 minutes to get back to the main road. 2- We visited the reserve on a hot day and they skipped half of the animals we were supposed to see, I don't know if the weather was the reason or it was just a regular thing to end the tour quickly. 3- They say they open at 10 am but they delayed us for an hour and we started the tour around 11:08 am.

Exceeded my expectations by far. Great place, well kept, clean bathrooms and welcoming staff. The guide, Mr. Zaid Al Etoum is so knowledgeable and was very informative. The nature is unbelievably nice. We heard the Leon’s roar a number of times, my kids loved it. They have plans to expand it more and add more animals, I would definitely visit again.

Just came back from this amazing adventure in north Jordan, one of the places I have seen here for animals and nature. They have a number of bears, tigers, lions in very large Outdoor grounds. You visit while walking on foot with a guide, we had Saif he was funny and informative. It is built on the mountain side with beautiful forests spreading across 1100 square meters. It’s very nicely organized with clean snack bar and washroom. They also have a nominee of chalets which are almost done. I would definitely go back again. Clean, family friendly Adventure in Jordan. 👍👍👍👍

The loving and well informed staff and guides make the experience much more informative and fun. I thought it is different because they have a good announcements on fb. Unfortunately, it turned out that it is like other places Jordan. We called them on Thursday to have a reservation on Friday, they asked us how many people will come and what time..and I was impressed by that. On Friday, it was chaos!!! They told us to wait 4h and a bus will take us. After 4h we found that they let people to go by their cars!! Place is not special, not completed and they only have few animals. Doesn't worth it.

This is a really special place completely deserving of a visit if you are even a marginal animal lover. The various lions, tigers, bears (my favorite), wolves and hyenas have been sent here for recovery after discovery during smuggling or after rescue from cruel and/or incompetent treatment. Our guide Ahmad Abu Musabbeh was superb. He catered to both English and Arabic speakers and set a walking pace that worked for the whole group of around 10 people, including kids. He was careful to explain that these animals are not being showcased; they simply cannot be released back into the wild due to injury or domestication or other reason. Tours and facilities help generate income to support the cost of feeding, housing and caring for these beautiful creatures. The animals are not bred. From what we saw, the animal residents are very well treated and are even friendly with visitors in many cases. A trio of bears came right up to us and spent time smiling and playing inches from us. This tour is good for all ages. Keep an eye out for when the overnight lodges open, as well as a brand new primate residence. If you are inclined to send a small donation their way whether or not you can visit in person, it will go toward a great good.

Great to visit this place. Amazing to hear it is the only animal protection centre in the whole of MENA region! Doing great work. Our guide Ahmed was very knowledgeable and clearly is proud of the work done by this centre. It is not a zoo, so do not come expecting lots of varieties of animals. It is a rescue centre where the animals they have are what has been rescued and couldn't be safely returned to the wild.

A breathtaking nature reserve and wildlife shelter which includes about 70 different wild animals that have been rescued from various locations around the world and allowed to live in a safe habitat that simulates their original natural environments. Many of these animals will never be rehabilitated to go back to the wild as their conditions (longterm captivity before their rescue that may have blunted their wild instincts as well as their current physical condition) would not allow for this to happen and so they are taken care of in this nature and animal reserve by several animal caretakers who also act as guides into this gorgeous reserve of around 110 hectares. In addition to the wild animals, the nature reserve has some spectacular oak, maple, and sumac trees sprawling over this massive piece of land. Firas was our designated tour guide, who also acts as one of the animal caretakers. He did a phenomenal job explaining the history behind each animal rescue as well as providing us with in-depth information about the history of this preserve, each animal species, breed, types and the way they are taken care of. I highly recommend visiting this natural and wildlife reserve as well as taking the tour across this reserve. Also special kudos to Firas for a great job as the tour guide.

This animal shelter is situated in a very nice area with a stunning view. Before you reach the spot referred to in google map as “the main entrance” you will face a sign indicating this place and is pointing to the left. Dont be confused just take a left on this bumpy unpaved road, this is where you get tour tickets from. Tickets are for 5 JDs for adults, 2 JDs for kids between 2-12 years old. Then you will follow google maps to the main entrance. As you drive up the mountain be cautious as this two way road is very narrow and big buses picking up visitors are very common. When you reach the main entrance there is an outdoor assembly point where you wait for like 10-15 minutes before you start your tour. There is a guide who will lead your walk and explain a little bit about every animal you stop by. First is a fence for 2 bears, then a fence for 3 bears, we passed by the Hyaena fence but were not lucky to see it, then there is a fence for a lion and a lioness, then another fence for another lion and lioness, finally a big fence for 2 tigers. And now you’re all done, you head to the bus that is waiting for you at the end of the tour and it drives you back to the start point. The tour is 30-40 minutes, not many animals as you can see, but surely its worth trying. People are very friendly and cooperative.

The place is very nice, huge with an amazing views, the concept of the place is realy great. But they need make the best use of this place for tourisim. Lot of facilities are not in service yet like the Resturant and the cafe. Would advise to do some marketing and to find someone to run the facilities to attract more people to come and enjoy the place and the concept all together

Must visit reserve as you can see wild animals in the nature, you can see lions, tigers & bears. Huge number of the animals are from Syria or Gaza "Palestine" and other saved from smugglers . If you wanna see nature & animals here is your place, also they have café and visitors center and now they are working on restaurant and cottages. Price :5JD per ticket - round around 60 minute. Recommendation : visit sun-tue-thu after 11 (no crowdnes - most of the animals fed and can be seen )

The hospitality of their staff is amazing, they are kind and well-informed about all sanctuary species 🦁🐯🐹 I wish if they can extend the working hours in Summer times to enable visitors to enjoy the place late afternoon times as it is super hot to walk under sun at noon times.. Also, there is no cafeteria in the upper section so we couldn't brought any cold drinks or water as we ran out of water while waiting for the guide and other visitors to gather.. Undoubtedly we congratulate your efforts and appreciate the challenges, but I whisper loudly to you that the life of a turtle is just as important as the life of a lion and a bear .. Humanity and compassion are not divided by a specific species .. It is unfortunate that you did not respond and interest in our request to house a wild turtle that was raised in a home and received special and special care But the reason for its large size compared to her home was that we had to strive to return it to a natural environment that suits her with compassion for her and her life, but unfortunately, we did not receive any response and follow-up !! I also invite you to check the condition of turtles in Jordan, as it is a disaster in the full sense of the word, as all other animals show signs of suffering and may express this with a meow, barking or roar, but the turtle remains in pain for years and decades in silence until it dies, not to mention the inhuman ways of selling it. (Translated by Google) Commitment to reservations does not exist, and the organization of the floor on the site is very weak, there are no regular times for trips, and there is no clarity in dealing with visitors. There are no places or activities for visitors while waiting for trips, especially for children, and parking areas and the passage of cars are not clear, and the protected connecting street is not suitable and accommodates one car, knowing that it is two-way. The protected area inside may be distinguished, but unfortunately we were not able to enter for the above reasons. I recommend visiting in the middle of the week, as the dates may be better on days when the number of visitors is few. The view and the fresh air taking out your breath. It is a good place for animals (Lions, Wolfs, Tigers, Bears and Monkeys), they do care a lot about them and this is a success for Jordan. Instead of putting animals in small cages, you see them in the wild in huge cages (around 5 to 30 dunam). The guide will explain everything about the animals and their rescues story. For Children, you need to be careful and to supervise them. Also, there are walking spaces between the cages so it might be difficult for them. There is a playing area for the children, a shop to buy some pastries, cakes, Juices and other drinks. The bathrooms are clean.

It's so obvious that they truly care about those animals. At first i thought I'd dislike this place because i just can't bear seeing the oh so sad faces of the animals in captivity, but i was wrong. The animals seemed so happy and were so playful. Everything was very well taken care of. Special thanks to Ahmad who showed us around. He made it even more of a great experience, by telling us everything about those beautiful creatures, their names, their history, how they got here, why aren't they released yet, their relationship with each other... Etc It truly was fantastic, thank you for having us.

This is one of the must-visit underrated places in Jordan! You can enjoy watching some beautiful animals in the 110 hectares wildlife not in cages, everything is done professionally, from welcoming , to the guidance, and most importantly the way they deal with the animals, they give them the freedom( except their meals 😁) and make sure no one provokes them! You can meet many lions, lionesses, tigers, monkeys, bears, wolves and one hyena. Their facilities are also great; cafe, restroom, prayer room, outdoor tables where you can enjoy a snack with a green view and watch your kids have fun in the playground before your turn arrive, you may also sit under a tree next to the playground and enjoy your lunch. I bet all their guides are professional, but ask for Zaid AlOtoum, he's really a nice man!

One of the best experience ever! The place is amazing, and your mission is wonderful. The animals are very lovely and alive. The people there are very respectful and helpful. I'm very impressed by the guides, especially Ahmad Abu Sbieh (not sure if that's the correct family name). Ahmad was very kind to give us all the time we needed. He explained everything very clearly, answered all of our questions, and even took our pictures. He definitely added joy to our trip. Absolutely Loved it.

It was of the most beautiful place I visited here in jordan. We enjoyed the nature and the wild life . We saw the animals but without the guilt you feel going to a zoo the way the animals were respected and treated properly Was amazing. And the cherry on the top was the tour guides their so educated on the matter and their not on bit boring it was delightful and heart warming hearing the rescue story of each animal we see. The place was also very clean Overall it’s an experience I recommend for adults and kids.

We had a wonderful time at Al Ma'wa! We went with our 3 children and they loved it. We simply called ahead the morning of to confirm what time we can come. We arrived at reception and were immediately escorted to a bus that took us a short drive to the entrance of the reserve. Our guide, Ahmed, was very knowledgeable and was able to give us the back story to each animal we saw - where and how the animal was rescued, how old they were, etc. We were there with one other group who only spoke Arabic (we only speak English) but Ahmed did a wonderful job giving the tour in Arabic first and then taking the same time and attention to translate in English. Once the tour was over, we were able to get some drinks and snacks at the lovely cafe and the kids played in the park right outside the cafe. Cafe, bathrooms, all facilities - super clean. Highly recommend visiting if in Amman! Tip for families with babies - do not bring a stroller. We carried our 6 month old in a carrier - much easier to walk the 1 hour tour.
