I want to call it a third world country airport but that's a compliment I'm not willing to give, the process is terrible and there are zero facilties. Most of The employees don't speak english which makes it impossible to communicate if you're not a kurdish speaker.

Security personnel is abusive and harasses passengers in the three different checkpoints. They do not respect ICAO guidelines of security and dangerous goods at all. Got stripped of all souvenirs I got while in Iraq: a porcelain paperweight (weighing half of my camera, which passed, of course), a tea set, all foodstuff (dates and pistachios), whilst locals passed through with containers filled with food, pieces of furniture, multiple hefty bags. Shameful and racist. It is the only place in Iraq where we felt targeted and treated badly, though.

I used to travel through this airport without any problem except for the delay in lines while officers checking travellers papers, it's annoying but tolerable. The last time me and my family went to Suleimaniyah, there was one officer wearing white shirt and light pants asked my wife to go with him to the room at the corner in front of the luggage area, he claimed that she needed an interview but in fact he was harassing her with shameful inappropriate questions. She was so terrified and extremely uncomfortable that she didn't tell me anything about until the next day. The Airport should be the gateway that reflects city culture, values and how civilized the people and government are, this predator showed us the ugly face of Kurdistan, we'll never forget that terrible experience. I hope the authority do their job and clean the airport from such officer who take advantage of vulnerable families... Shame on you.

It is small airport, need expansion, the staff is unfriendly, small caffe, but it is unfair if we compare the airport with other developed country's airports, step by step we will make decent one

I'm frequent traveler and every time I travel from the CIP part which is comfortable and clean, but this time i travel from the normal part but unfortunately the W.C. was not clean and the smoking room very neglected, you don't feel you are in the airport its like a 2 star hotel, they should do some renovation specially regarding the sanitation and wc.

Worst customer service ever. Rude, unprofessional and disrespectful. Avoid flying to that airport. It's not an airport, it is noth korean check point in a little kiosk which is called airport. You don't deserve even 1 star.

I have been a in and out of this airport for many years and it's extremely nice for a regional airport and adhering to the local standards, multiple security sections but it's mainly because of the safety issues of the area but the main airport area is good fast and efficient and the recent renovations they did during the Corona era really show with modern busses and and a new devices baggage is also delivered quickly so is check-in but passport control is the only problem as they always try to find a problem even though in their database the information is clearly there.

Small, clean and efficient. Two security checkpoints for departure, even a simple CIP lounge for business class passengers. No aerobridge available, need to take buses to the airplane

Better to find another airport. The staff are rude and unprofessional. When you arrive you feel that you are a suspect or a murder. 9 checkpoints you must go through. Horrible experience.

تەنھا بەرادێکیان نەبوو ئاوی لێ بخۆین،The worst airport ever, we went sulaymaniya to see our family, on the way we came back, one of the police officers asked me “ does that picture on your passport is the picture after your surgery?” He means that I did surgery to shape of my face but I wasn’t and I laughed a bit and said yes, just to not be late for the flight however those people which they were behind me that they wouldn’t asked them those questions.

I flew from Qatar to Silemani with a carry on luggage and a small duffle that was my purse and there was no issue flying with Qatar airways. Flying back to Qatar through the Silemani airport they made it an issue and said I had to check my carry on piece and I explained I didn’t have to when I came and it was the same airline. I had important stuff in my carry on and the flight wasn’t even full and they said this is the rules but I explained it wasn’t an issue from Qatar to here so why does it only change in Kurdistan. They said my carry on wasn’t made for the plane and as I got to my gate I saw many people with heavier carry on bags that were much larger. It’s a shame your own country gives you a hard time over a carry on. I’ve travelled the world and never had this issue.

It’s an international airport and they don’t even speak English. I do know Arabic thinking that would help, but these guys speak Kurdish only, when I speak in Arabic they either don’t reply or reply back in Kurdish knowing that I don’t speak that language. I’m sorry but what country are we in?

The worst airport that you can travel from in the whole Middle East! very rude staff, you need to go through 3 x-rays with the bags, they have 3 passport checks one after the other and above all a very ignorant staff! because every time i travel from this airport it gets worse and worse. in the future I'd rather go from Erbil

Those described are racist and ask racist questions about nationalism and the reason for entering the country. I advise all foreigners to beware and not to come here because the people described are from the ruling parties and they practice intimidating foreigners

I operate cargo flights, therefore only go to cargo apron and can comment and judge the cargo handling of the staff. The cargo handling staff are efficient and quick also the ATC handling of traffic is professional.

Run-down and in-need of renovation. Shuttle buses are terrible - dirty and inconvenient, terminal facilities are really limited. Should be much better!

17.08.2021 @ 12pm Final female security check before gates, hijabi lady was incredibly rude. Took my eyebrow scissors and I said its been fine in all the other countries i’ve been to and its scissors I don’t want to throw away. She said and what? we have ‘marka’ (branded) ones here which are better. Jealous old B****. ISU sort out your women staff. Worst airport with the strictest ‘security checks’. Shame its the only airport in the city which gives you no choice.

This beautiful city of sulaymaniyah deserves a better & well represented Airport. This airport has one shop and W.C. W.C is well neglected! .Broken mirror & sinks all fixed all over with silicon. I hope people high up in the government has abit of dignity to modernise this airport at least 30% as posh as thier Palace!
