Not enough staff for a busy Friday night, very slow, lots of tables, and lots of waiting. Pretty much your standard hotel food, nothing special at all. Same salad and cheap pizza available at any number of hotels. But, very pricy, above average pricy.

Not too much to choose from the morning menu, but everything on it is delicious! We had Nyesha and she was a fantastic server!

The shrimp and grits is phenomenal!!! It's well worth the price. The shrimp and greats is placed on top of a English muffin and it comes with eggs. The ingredients paired with the dish is fantastic and a treat for your taste buds. I never had anything like this well prepared shrimp and grits. It is a must try. I would give it ten gold stars if I could.

The food was delicious but the customer service was 10 stars! The sweet bartender had me from hello, on the phone, when I called in our order. She was even sweeter when my husband and I showed up to pick up our food. We were staying at a hotel next door, we ordered bottled sparkling water to go and since they open with a bottle opener she sent us back to our hotel with her personal bottle opener! When we got back to our room we discovered she also put a cup of limes in the bag. She went above and beyond from the call to order through the goodbye. Anyway, about the food! We ordered chicken and waffles and the cobb salad...so good! Both were very fresh and flavorful, we will definitely dine here again in the future. I want to try the shrimp and grits next time!

Was looking forward to dinner here. Decent menu, and beautifully presented food. Unfortunately didn’t taste as good as it looked, slight bland, but not horrible. Polite and friendly staff, and quite efficient consider only one waitress on a busy Friday night. Prices not too bad for a hotel restaurant. EDIT: Ate breakfast here this morning. Changed the rating from three stars to a one. The service was awful, though staff polite. The breakfast buffet was abysmal, the Fairfield Inn quite frankly has a better selection. For a full service Marriott, I’d expect more. I can handle the weak selection, dirty, dishes, I draw the line there. Lastly, the charged an 11 year old $18.95 for a bowl of cereal, really? I won’t be dining here again.

Dined at Midlands because I was in the hotel for a conference. Service was very good. Our attendants made sure we had everything we needed with a smile. Not always easy when you have a large group. Food was okay, not bad, just not great either. Most of us shared our dishes with each other to taste a little of everything.

My mother and I enjoyed lunch there today and it was delicious. The shrimp and grits were the best I've ever eaten. And Nick was tops. He was very attentive and made us feel so welcome. The atmosphere was lovely and warm. If I could rate the service, atmosphere and food higher than a 5, I would. I highly recommend!

We went here for Father’s Day breakfast and had an amazing experience. Exodus was spectacular and made this experience great. Will definitely be back here again!

Went to Midlands' last night for dinner. An order of the crab cakes was shared for an appetizer. They were loaded with crab and cooked to perfection. I had the shrimp and grits as an entree an they were amazing. The menu lists them as award winning and I can clearly see why. My girlfriend had the chicken and waffles, which was also listed as a signature dish. The chicken and the waffles were tasty but the bourbon maple glaze was VERY heavy on the bourbon. In a blind tasting I would have just called it reduced bourbon. The maple was undetectable. Other than that though it was a well prepared dish.

Not a south american restaurant. Pricey bar food. Restaurant only open for breakfast. Bar area serves food all day

I came here specifically for the shrimp and grits and the dish did not disappoint. The flavor was amazing and texture of the grits just right. I have tried shrimp and grits from almost every restaurant in Columbia that serves them and Midlands has THE BEST - hands down!

Absolutely hands down the best food in Columbia! My girlfriend and I frequent here for anniversary’s or birthdays. I even had my high school graduation dinner here years ago. The food is amazing! The shrimp and grits were the best I have ever had and their seasonal peach tea is wonderful. I recommend this to anyone who asks me where they should go for a special occasion. 6/5 stars
