Perfect campground for me and my pup! Dean, the owner saved me, by letting me book the night of after I was turned away from a very inhospitable nearby campground. I only intended to stay one night, but ended up staying 3, because I liked it so much! Yes, there's noise from the road above and an occasional train comes through on the other side of the river, but the river's running water sounds dominate and create really calming background noise that put me right at ease. Also, I enjoyed watching the train roll through. The vibe is very relaxed and comfortable, because they don't allow kids (for safety reasons between the river and road) and they try to avoid loud party groups. The grounds are well kept and each site has plenty of space. There are plenty of porter potties and they are the cleanest ones I have ever seen! There is a nice private washroom on site with a toilet, sink, and standing shower. (Pro tip: the hot water heater can be finicky. Run the sink hot water while you shower until they have a chance to fix it) There are tire swings and other swings overhanging the water, which was really cool! There's also a family of geese that come around with their new chicks. I felt very safe there. The owner comes around occasionally to keep an eye on things and he's very down to earth and accommodating. Open to all kinds of people including international, LGBTQIA+, BIPOC etc. It was the perfect balance of a relaxing nature getaway with just the right amount of freedom, privacy, and comfortable amenities. I'll definitely be back!

Camp Driftwood did not disappoint. We stayed in the White Water Chalet. Very rustic, but perfect. And the views. Wow! We just wanted a relaxing weekend. It was very cold, but we still enjoyed being outside. My husband fished. I walked the trails, bundled up and sat on the deck. Would love to go back in warm weather. 30-45 minutes from lots of places. Our chalet was clean and warm and roomy. Had every thing we needed. Did I mention the view? The only negative… street noise from bedroom. But it won’t stop me from coming back.

We stayed in Clarks and really enjoyed it. Rustic cabin for a family of 4 and a nice upgrade from tent camping. Place has a good number of 120v outlets, mini fridge, coffee maker, and a nice heating and cooling system. The owner is nice and accommodating and made up the sleeper sofa with a memory foam mattress. Really cool place on the river for the very fair price.

Just a little road noise and occasional train on the other side of the river! Small mouth bass and beautiful river to enjoy!

My wife and I stayed in the Paddlers Paradise cabin three nights over Presidents Day weekend. It was a simple check-in process with a lockbox at the cabin door. The cabin was clean and very cozy for us - comfy bed, small dining table, TV with standard DirecTV package, microwave, coffee maker, and small fridge. There was a space heater that was sufficient to keep the cabin warm during a pretty chilly weekend. The campground has a great view of the French Broad River, which was quite full and moving swiftly while we were there, providing great natural background noise. The campground was also clean. There is some traffic and train noise. We already knew this having stayed at a similar place just a mile or so south on Old Marshall Hwy. The shower in the shared bathroom is challenging, as some other reviewers have noted. It gets extremely hot very quickly when the tankless heater kicks on. When you turn the faucet back toward cold, the heater shuts off and you have a few seconds of warm water before it goes ice cold (in the winter anyway). I suggest just getting your washcloth wet, turn the water off, lather up, turn the water back on and rinse quickly before it goes cold. It's not a shower to hang out in for 10-15 minutes. It's worth noting that there were not many other people at Camp Driftwood while we were there. There were only 5 or 6 other people there the first two nights (two in each of the other two cabins and one tent site). Then we had the entire campgrounds to ourselves the last night. I wonder how busy that bathroom gets during the peak summer season (there is a port-a-potty in the tent site area that would hopefully help alleviate that). Although this is a bit north of Asheville, it does not take long to drive down there. It's also convenient to hiking (Richmond Hill south and on the other side of the river), birding at Beaver Lake, breweries just down Old Marshall Hwy/Riverside Dr, and the restaurants and shops of West Asheville. We'd definitely stay here again during off-peak season.

Nice campsite, road is alittle loud but the river drowns it out, sites are flat and covered in grass so pretty perfect for a tent. Staff was nice.

The perfect cabin for two! The view could not be more beautiful, especially in October when the leaves are changing. Just a short drive from Asheville, and a short drive to Weaverville. I would absolutely recommend to a friend!

Such a nice campground! Multiple tent sites all on the river. Restroom facilities - clean with hand sanitizer available. Established fire rings. Camp Director was very easy to work with - everything was handled online.

Not a fun experience at all. The "shower and bath house" was so nasty. No maintenance/cleaning done to it for awhile. No curtain on the main window, someone could peep right in and see you. Shower was also over flowing and not draining. I knew the road was going to be loud but not that loud lol.. Could have put up different sound proof fence walls to help. Was better off staying the night in my car down the road at the riverfront park.

Overall we enjoyed our stay. Beautiful locations/views and nice camp sites. Rating a 4 of 5 due to poor street signage (the large fence with the name is kind of hard to see coming from certain directions at 45mph) and rough road access down to the sites.

Had an awesome stay here! The camp hosts were very friendly and always walking around making sure you were enjoying your stay. Area is beautiful, and the river has some good spots to catch some nice bass. The camp is in a great location, no more than an hour drive from some great spots.
