Great archeological site to visit but worth to go there with a guide because there’re not much information to read and get an idea of the place. Went there with my friends and loved it.

Reconstructed site. Interesting, but not as much to see as some other historical sites in Turkmenistan, such as Merv. However, if you're in Ashgabat, then this is worth a visit

Interesting Archeological site to visit while in Ashgabat. Best to go with a guide to tell you the history and information of each location as there’s no signboard for explanations.

You need to come with a guide to get something from here. Our guide was ok. Most of what you see is a recreation that is slowly fading away. Again photos are extra charge

Old Nisa is a Unesco heritage site since 2017. It was a capital city of old perthian empire and deserves to be visited with a guide who can make your visit more interesting. It lies at a short distance (18klm) from Ashgabat, so can be visited as a day trip from the Turkmenistan capital city. Many atrefacts from the excavations are in the National archaeological museum in Ashgabat.

This site is mostly a rebuilding of the old Nisa, between the earthquake and time passing the old Nisa is pretty much gone. But it’s still worth a visit. We had a guide with us to explain the history of the place as well as what it was like long ago, without him we would have missed much. FYI, if you want to photograph the site you need to pay additional $500 per person (approximately $3.50 USD).

Archaeological site in Baghr, Ashgabat. Easy walk out in open terrain. May want to bring a hat or umbrella for sun protection. Believed to be from Arsacid Empire, 200 BC. Reputedly the royal residence of the Parthian kings, but it has not ascertained if the fortress at Nisa was a royal residence or a mausoleum.
