So, and our opinion while this restaurant portrays itself to be authentic, we found the food lacking and true Indian cuisine flavors and presentations. As reviewers who spent a month in India, we found the restaurant lacking in genuine authenticity. We were disappointed. Finally, the prices of their food compared to local Indonesian or even Thai options was pretty high.

Lovely spot for Indian food in a side street of busy El Nido town. The staff is friendly and the food is delicious. They asked beforehand about the level of spicyness. That is a plus. We went there twice and loved it.

The food is here is absolutely terrible. There is no taste at all. I have had Indian food all over the world but this is not it. Their portions are super small for the price. They literally brought us a small pot full of bones, no chicken at all . Just avoid this spot period. Go have some pizza instead or anything else you can find to eat. Do not waste your money here !!!

As the name goes, the food has authentic taste of Indian food. We were craving for some spicy food all throughout our stay in Philippines, and when we figured there is an Indian restaurant in a beautiful place like El Nido, our happiness knew no bounds. Thank you Ashoka and your family for setting up this lovely and beautiful hotel which serves as testimony to the amazing taste of an Indian food.

Good Indian restaurant with nice staff. The first thing I recognized was, that it is a very clean place and it is very well taken care of. The food came quickly and it was delicious. Even next morning it felt fine, if you know what I mean. The only think to mention are the prices, we as a couple paid 2000 PHP in total for 2 meals and 3 drinks which I find a bit pricy

Oh my God!!! We are almost for 1 month in the Philippines and I don't actually find dishes to like in their cuisine.. It's just a matter of taste, not because of the food itself But Ashoka in this country is my piece of Heaven!!! When we found this restaurant I was the happiest! Everything was delicious!!! We cleaned the plates! Best butter chicken, best Naan, best Lassi! Best everything! The staff was friendly, they understand and talk English well, everything is clean! And the chef is authentic Indian ❤️ Glad I found you!

We have been craving for good Indian food for the longest time. We moved to Puerto Princesa in 2021, and unfortunately, you can’t really find good Indian food in the area. We decided to spend a weekend in El Nido and stumbled upon Ashoka and definitely were not disappointed! Food was excellent. So flavorful, delicious, served hot. And they ask how spicy you like it. Everything was excellent and filling. Service was great. Very kind, accommodating, and attentive. Everyone was smiling and very friendly. 100% would recommend and will definitely come back the next time we find ourselves in El Nido.

I ate here last night their chef is Indian so it’s 💯 authentic Indian food they serve . I ordered 1 samosa, 1 butter chicken , 1basmati rice and 2 garlic naan you might feel expensive but the portion is good enough for 2 person .

Great central location, food was amazing and tasty. I got the chicken masala. They also give you the option to choose a spiciness level. Owner and staff were super friendly, loved their company. If you're visiting El Nido, you definitely have to give this restaurant a shot!

Authentic Indian cuisine and delicious naan. The restaurant offers authentic Indian cuisine and everything is delicious. The superb taste of the dishes and everything on the menu is due to the professional chef, the spices being imported directly from India and the owner of the place. The place is suitable for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Every day when we were in El Nido, we had dinner there and the taste was always superb. We drank traditional Indian tea every morning and we never lacked naan with garlic and cheese for dinner. The owner of the place speaks very good English and we learned a lot from him about the island. We strongly recommend.

If you ever travel east of the Indian shores, this is perhaps one of the only places where you'd find authentic Indian food. The taste is lip smacking and the prices were nominal.. The meal portions were sumptuous. Definitely worth visiting if you're an Indian looking for Vegan/Vegetarian food options in El Nido.

Standard, run-of-the-mill Indian food outside of India. A good spot if you crave Indian food, want to try it for the first time or just want a hearty meal. The place itself is very plain, and there were not many people, there's no atmosphere. For this reason especially I would's categorize it as a must-try restaurant in El Nido.

Rooms are large, AC silent and the service is very friendly. The restaurant gets a strong recommendation, too. On the expensive side but absolutely worth it! Many vegan and vegetarian choices and the Mango Lassi is sublime.

We chose this restaurant due to its good reviews. The restaurant was quiet as it was a Monday night, perhaps not many tourists here yet? The samosas were tasty, garlic cheese naan yummy if a little oily for me (hubby liked it crunchy), and the two chicken curries we ordered were tasty too. Moderately priced for a tourist town. Would happily eat there again. Portions were fine, not huge. For the price, I would have expected a bit more chicken in the curries. Service was efficient and friendly.

We stayed in El Nido for 7 nights. When looking for somewhere for dinner on our first night, I noticed lots of restaurants have some pretty negative reviews amongst their good ones. So we went with Ashoka which had nothing but positive reviews, plus our favourite cuisine is Indian! We enjoyed it the first night so came back every single other night of our stay. We enjoyed each and every dinner we ate here, trying a variety of the curry dishes and starters. All so so good! Really loved the Kadhai Paneer and the garlic naan. One of the owners is Indian so every dish is authentic. Service was exceptional! It's a family run business and they really make it a priority to give their guests the best experience they can. Their policy is to check on you after you've started your meal - because if you're not happy or if it's not to your expectations then they will fix it right away. Wish every restaurant put this effort in.

Amazing authentic Indian cuisine! Very tasty and so good. Large variety of dishes and Halal for Muslim travellers. They also have a few rooms available upstairs that are basic with aircon and a ver clean room. The Jeera rice was a bit over priced but the rest was great!

I had the dal fry and aloo paratha. The food's great – large portions, tasty, and served hot. They'll add spice if you ask. The only downside is the slightly high price.

Was in El Nido for three nights and came to Ashoka for 2 dinners. Hands down, the best food we had in the Philippines and some if the best Indian food outside of India. Food is authentic. The owner, Sunny and his wife run the restaurant themselves and take great care and pride in the product and service. Sonny travels to India a few times a year to bring all the needed spices for the food! If in El Nido and you like or love Indian food - I highly recommend Ashoka.

Fantastic Indian food ,I’ve Been in india almost 1 month so I can say it was real “authentic” totally similar taste like in india. Friendly staff , quick service We are in group when we visit this place, we are all enjoyed. Their serving portions are good for 1 to 2 person it can be sharing specially the amazing naans they serve. We highly recommend this place for groups.

It’s true Authentic Indian dishes they serve . We ordered samosa , mix vegetables, malai kogta ,garlic cheese naan as vegetarian person it was the best meal we ever had in elnido the service was great even it was busy night they serve our order very quick and staff are very attentive too . Highly recommended specially if you are vegetarian .

The butter chicken here is good but the naan is inexcusable. It’s closer to a a tortilla soaked in oil than naan bread. Completely flat and drenched. Would definitely not order this again. You need to order an entire rice dish per item in order to have enough making this one of the more expensive places in El Nido. It’s rice… no excuse for the portion and price. They really want you to buy gelato and left the menus for it on the table while we ate before pushing it on us at the end. This is an Indian restaurant ma’am.

  • 3/5 Kristen 8 months ago on Google
Good portions for the curry. The rice was fine for two people but anymore you’ll need to order another one. Get the onion paratha it was good. They don’t serve naan until after 430pm. Kind of expensive - 400-500 pesos for 1 curry and you must add on the rice and bread separately.

Very authentic Indian food in El Nido. I finally had a satisfying meal, being a vegetarian I had been surviving on rice, fruits and chips. Very clean and family run business. We meet Mr.Ashok and got a chance to meet his family. A very inspiring story from the Chef. I am glad we bumped into this gem.

Great value for money We found that many hotels in El Nido are fully booked, so we ended up staying in 3 different places, but we were lucky that Ashoka Hotel had room for 5 of the nights, and it was without a doubt the best. The nicest hosts! Super helpful (e.g. ordering transport at a good price), professional, smiling and very interested in giving us a good experience. Asks every day how we are and if we had a good day. Spacious and clean rooms. Clean bed linen and towels. Shower with hot water and normal water pressure. Good indoor climate. Stable Wi-Fi. The power went out, but only briefly, the hotel has a generator. We ate at the hotel restaurant several times, super delicious Indian food, and pleasant just to walk down to eat in their quiet restaurant. We will stay here next time we visit El Nido. They get our best recommendations. Thank you so much!

We came here 10 mins before their closing time but they still let us in. It is, by far the most delightful Indian food I’ve had in a long time. Every food we ordered was one of those ahhhh moments. Left for home last week but we’re still thinking about this resto and the food and ambiance. Definitely a memory worth visiting. Hope to see them in the busy street were most commercial establishments are located, I’m sure they’d be a huge hit! Shout out to the wife (lady owner) for being so friendly and hospitable. We will be back for more food!

I recommend going to Ashoka! They are very kind and the food is so good. We ordered different things and everything was delicious. It’s not cheap (500p for butter chicken) but it’s definitely worth it. If you like good Indian food, try it, you won’t regret it.

Order: shahi paneer, aloo paratha and garlic naan The food was average at best. Lacked flavour and authenticity. Paneer cubes were fine but the curry had no taste. Aloo paratha also lacked taste. Spent 1100 on 3 Items which is very pricey for the quality I got.

  • 5/5 Danielle B. 1 year ago on Google
The best food in my 2 weeks in the Philippines with many vegetarian and vegan options. I had a mixed vegetable with nan one day and the palak paneer with rice and took some samosas to go. All of it was so delicious, highly recommend this restaurant. Lots of non vegetarian options as well.

Superb authentic Indian food in the heart of El Nido! Very affordable, service is quick and vibe is peaceful. We tried the Tika Masala and Biryana Rice, deeelicious. Also met owner and he spoke very passionately of how he's proud of his now thriving restaurant. He does the artwork and decorations himself and genuinely listens to customers' feedback. Must-go while in El Nido ❤️

Very authentic basic restaurant, dont expect anything fancy. However they serve some really great tasteful food! Ps; if you are European and like your food spicy your should probably still go for medium spiciness.

Absolutely amazing. One of the best Indian restaurants I’ve ever been to. It should be at the top of your list if you are coming to El Nido.

We chose this restaurant after reading the reviews online. The restaurant was quite busy for a Monday night but a pleasant atmosphere. The staff and chefs were really friendly and the food was delicious! We really enjoyed the spinach and potato curry and the chapati especially! It was very expensive for the area - we could get a curry in England for the same price (around £7+ a dish). But overall, worth a visit if you’re willing to pay a bit more.

The food was so much good. It was worth the travel and wait. We all enjoyed and satisfied even the children love their butter chicken and paneer. I highly recommended this place for those planning to visit El Nido, Palawan, and would like to indulge in indian cuisine.

Had a short vacation with my family in El Nido. Before we head back to Cebu, we decided to try an Indian Restaurant close by and the map just led us to the right place - Ashoka. It’s amazing how they serve such sumptuous dishes that would definitely bring you to a real Indian cuisine in India. Their chicken tika masala plus the basmati rice is such a perfect combi. On top of their price-worthy food selection, the view stunned me and the staff are very accommodating. You might want to travel to El Nido, satisfy your appetite here. 🫶🏽❤️ you wont regret a peso.
