Siva Doul ( Temple ) was constructed in the year 1734 A.D. by Queen Ambika alias Madambika. It is the highest/tallest temple of Assam. The temple carries one golden koloshi (Dom) of 8 feet high on the top of the Mandir. Hight of the temple is 180 ft & breadth is 195 ft .Siva temple with a golden top. Many devotees comes here and pray for good health and happiness. Every year Mahashivratri is celebrated.. A huge number of devotees comes here and enjoy the fastival... The infrastructure is good and when you take your first foot on the stairs a positive energy goes through your body.... I loved the place.. There is a huge trunk here which is known as Shivsagar Trunk.. The area of the trunk is about 3km. There are huge number of turtle and fish lives here..

Though it's a place of ancient architecture of religious purposes,it can visited by any group of community. The surrounding is made of green lush and brightly colored flowers. There are benches on numerous places at the campus to sit and enjoy the peaceful ambience. Can be visited wd family and friends.

Crowned with a high golden dome, shiva dol which is comprised of three main dols. Comprising of shiva, Vishnu and devi. It is one of the main attractions of Sivasagar, Assam. Shiv Ratri is celebrated for 4- 5 days with great enthusiasm over here. If you are in Sivasagar, then you must visit this place.

Sivasagar Sivadol is a group of structures comprising three Hindu temples of Sivadol, Visnudol and Devidol, other shrines, and a museum. These are located on the banks of the Sivasagar ("the ocean of the god Shiva") tank, also known as the Borpukhuri tank, in the heart of Sivasagar, in the Indian state of Assam.

The patterns in which the 'dol' was built is truly breath-taking. The area was clean and a small flower garden could be seen beside the Shiva Dol— adding more beauty. Besides the Shiva Dol, there is the Vishnu Dol and Devi Dol too— each with their own characteristic features but built in the same manner.

Beautiful ancient temple complex. Few marble steps are laid recently which according to me spoil the ancient look. However, the structure is elegant and one may feel very spiritual. Must visit in Sivasagar.

Nice quite place if u have enough time, please don't be there on a day with bright sunshine because the entrance floor burns like fire and if u have to be on a day with bright sunshine follow grass patch beside the entrance floor. ASI needs to work or some part of this temple as it's getting worn out due to weathering and time. The temple is witness of our glorious history, which needs to be preserved for our future generations. Request to Assam Government for preceding statement.

Visited on 25 December 2021. Take my advice, visit the temple twice, morning & evening. Apart from benefit of less crowd, better clicks expected. The temple design is typical of Assam, Ahom kingdom architecture which is influenced by Mughal architecture. Visit nearby Devi Dol & Vishnu Dol.

?Shibdol is a group of structures comprising three Hindu temples of Sivadol, Vishnudol and Devidol. These are located on the banks of the Sivasagar ("the ocean of the god Shiva") tank, also known as the Borpukhuri tank, in the heart of Sivasagar, in the Indian state of Assam. Sivsagar, present day Sivasagar, was the capital of Ahom kingdom. One of the most historical and holy place of Assam , situated near the Borpukhuri, Shiva Dol is an amusing place to visit, there's no entrance fees, you can enter and exit as you like. There's no monument inside the shiva dol, there's a small cave, at the end there's a hole which is said to be connected to Borpukhuri, in the walls there are carvings of shiva and there's a trident of shiva (so called). There are two more small dols in the right and left (forgot the name).

This is so beautiful. Siva Dol was built in 1734 by Ambika Kunwari, queen of Ahom king Swargadeo Siva Singha. It is believed to be the highest shiva temple in India with an height of 104 feet and a perimeter of 195 feet with an eight foot high golden dome at the top.

the largest shiva temple in assam in the bank of mammoth shivasagar lake- built by the mighty Ahom kings- very beautiful premises but apparently it feels like neglected by local authorities- there is much more scope to beautify this famous historic monument

One of the major tourist attraction of the place. It is the main Shiva temple in Assam. Situated south to the Sivsagar water tank. Peaceful area with lots of seats and benches for relaxing. You can see the Sivsagar water tank from here. The place is very neatly maintained. Lots of pigeons are also present in the compound

Shiva dol is one of the best and old shiva temples in assam. It also has Devi temple and Bishnu temple on both sides. Parking is available and there are shops with puja samagri just opposite the main gate of the temple. You can sit in the lawn have a good time. Highly recommended.

A must visit place in Sivasagar as it is the temple of the deity for whom the whole city / District is named. The tall and magnificent temple is in the heart of the city standing on a raised hill. Siva Dol is an ancient temple built with carved stones, by an Ahom king to praise lord Shiva. However hectic the journey may be you can find peace when you are near the temple. Though there is a crowd during important religious days. Along with it there are durga dol and bishnu dol, smaller than the main temple which are dedicated to lord bishnu and goddess Durga respectively. It is well maintained with a good park surrounding it where you can seek blessings and relax.

What a majestic Shiva temple. So big. If you visit once you will feel the power, the aura. What a beautiful, gigantic temple. And, in the campus of the temple there are two more temples, in the left of Shiva Dol there is Devi Dol (devoted to goddess Durga) and in the right of it is Bishnu Dol (devoted to God Vishnu). No tickets required. Well maintained. Garden so beautiful. A great place for archeological visit.
