A unique well preserved monument of humanity. Definitely worth at least a visit. Various civilisations left their marks. The location next to the Mediterranean sea gives an added value. The queen of sabratha is at least for me the theatre. I hope that more people will visit this unique place in the future.

A Roman architectural wonder, survived thousands of years, it is a living statement of the ancient Roman civilization. The coliseum and the three-story theater are mostly intact and used for hosting annual concerts and  national events a few years back. Built on the Mediterranean coast. The most intact Roman city in the world.

An architectural masterpiece withstanding the inclement test of time, it is a colossal remnant of the ancient Roman empire. Built on the coast of Sabratha overlooking the Mediterranean sea 🌊 The coliseum and the three-story theater are mostly intact and used for hosting annual concerts and  national events a few years back. Presently, tourists & local visitors alike are at liberty to roam around exploring the monumental set of ruins, getting awe-struck by the massive templates and admire the luxurious remains of Roman villas from ages past .. all free of charge!

The theater of the ancient city of Sabratha was selected as one of the most famous Roman and Greek theaters, according to the site of Touropia, which specializes in producing the best monuments, archaeological sites, landscapes, islands and wildlife in the world. Syria. The theater of the city of Sabratha archaeological, which can accommodate about 5 thousand spectators, on stage, one of the fullest models of the Roman theater architecture. Historical sources indicate that the 230-meter-long theater on the beach was probably built during the reign of Emperor Commodus (161-92) and consists of a wooden platform decorated with a marble facade and columns, ending with dolphins on both sides, The plank is a series of floral motifs representing gods, historical and theatrical scenes, a series of rectangular and semicircular niches, in the middle niche of the goddess of Rome and figures dressed like Amazons, and on the sides we are another divinity representing Sabratha. The background of the podium is composed of three floors mounted on corinthian columns that form corridors. The columns of the marble floors were vertically and bolted, except for the columns of corridors on the floors that were unbroken. The number of 108 columns is divided sequentially, related to sound distribution and sound engineering. Columns as amplifiers. Amazing and gorgeous. It’s smaller and less famous than Leptis Magna, but I like it more because (1) its smaller size makes it easier to see, (2) I like the browner shades of the stone and (3) the amphitheater is incredible.
