Our first visit to Seaside Oregon and we read the raved reviews of their clam chowder so decided we had to try it. I ordered a bowl instead of the cup. As this was going to make up the bulk of my supper meal with a few pieces of my spouse’s cod fish and chip dinner. The clam chowder was very delicious and rich. The bowl size would have been great if I didn’t want to eat anything else it filled me up. The fish and chip dinner was seven pieces of cod, but disappointingly one piece was just batter. Not sure why the cooks wouldn’t have seen it when plating, it was so small one had to have known it was fishless. The fish we did get was flaky but very bland tasting, even the tartar sauce was quite bland and not very tangy. Coleslaw was good but minuscule for the price point. The French fries were ok, nothing special. Thought for a “Steak and Seafood“ restaurant that the fries would have been hand cut and homemade. Service was prompt. Definitely worth a visit for their clam chowder.

We ordered Louis Salad, steamed clam, captain’s plate (with scallops add-on), and pork chop. First of all, the clam chowder came with a side was so delicious! The salad was very generous portioned, the freshness and the right cook of steamed clam was a wonder! Everything was delicious and well seasoned fresh materials, including the side dishes of steamed vegetables and coleslaw! The portions were generous so we ended packing pork chop and sweet potato fries. Location is just a block from the beach, relatively quieter than ocean front sitting. They don’t fry everything like other stores which is a plus since seafood tasting better without frying if they are fresh.

The moment I stepped in the door it smelled like seafood, and not the good kind. Management has somehow decided the place should smell like a fish packing plant, it made me want to turn around. A restaurant should never cause that sort of reaction. It could be attached to the aquarium seal feeding area just down the street. Our service was slow enough that I never got a refill of water for the rest of the meal. Food was subpar for a seafood restaurant at this price point. When I received my clam chowder salad combo, it was a below average quality chowder and some lettuce that was not super fresh. Not worth almost 20$... Our customer experience could have been better. There seems to be a recurring issue with people sending there food back because of the quality. My friend sent his albacore fish and chips back because of the texture and taste. A restaurant should compensate the customer if the experience is not right. He was not treated fairly for some bad fish, see our picture below. Looking through other reviews it seems as though this policy has raised some concerns. With other customers trying to reason with management for poor food orders. My friend paid full price even though it was taken to the back to be thrown away, then as we were leaving it was offered to be brought back, and was delivered back in a takeout box. Not sure where they had held it. We will certainly not be returning and I hope you never decide to visit.

The restaurant next door had a 25 minute wait. We went here to find no waiting to be seated. They were busy with other tables sure, but the menu was large enough to look thru before our waitress, Joanne took our orders. We both had a lunch special and they came out pretty fast. So yummy! The chowder is excellent but stay around to try the desserts. The key lime pie was lovely.

I was looking for a place to eat dinner on a Wednesday evening and wanted to try this long established restaurant in Seaside. Norma's has a large menu with salads, seafood, soup, sandwiches and much more. After a short wait, I ordered the beer battered four piece halibut fish and chips with clam chowder. The clam chowder had good taste and had a nice amount of clams and potatoes. The fish fell apart when I picked it up and was hard to eat. It seems the fish may have not been fresh and local caught. Located on Columbia Street near Broadway in a building that looks like a lighthouse. The food was a little disappointing, but for most people it is a solid choice for dinner with friendly service and a wide selection of food.

Absolutely disgusting. Take your money elsewhere. The salad was over dressed and the scallops were cooked to hell, bland Alfredo sauce and no flavor. Asked to replace salad and was told “pick the pieces off you don’t like and eat it” by management. Instead of arguing, I paid and left because if you are so desperate to be rude and yell at two ladies, one of which is my mature mother in law, you need to get your life together. I am very used to fine dining and realized our standards are much higher than your average restaurant. My expectations were too high. But this is still garbage food. Waitress was overly anxious, unhelpful and dismissive.

Price was very reasonable and quality exceeded expectations. Clam strips were very tender, fries crispy, but cod needed a little more seasoning imo.

A spacious place with natural light coming from the big windows (easy to do social distancing while enjoying your meal inside). The smoked salmon salad was big and delicious. Their famous clam chowder had perfect consistency and ratio of potatoes / clams. The local grilled salmon was absolutely amazing - tender and fresh. Everything was nicely seasoned and served with plenty of lemon slices.

Norma's was recommended by the Clerk at Hillside Inn as having excellent sea food. I can vouch for the fish and chips. My wife and I shared the full combo platter, which comes with two pieces of Salmon, Halibut, Cod, and Albacore tuna. You can order beer battered or lightly coated pieces, we opted for battered. The fish also comes with a large serving of chips and a cup of sweet cole slaw. Our favorite fish was the Salmon with the tuna coming in last. To be honest, we thought the tuna was chicken. It has the texture and taste of chicken. I guess that's why they refer to it as the chicken of the sea! The fish and chips cost $29.00. We ordered strawberry lemonade, which is excellent, and Marion berry cobbler a la mode for dessert, which was served warm and tasted yummy. The lemonade cost $4.00 and the cobbler $9.00. Our server was awesome and very attentive. She kindly explained the tuna after we told her we were accidentally served chicken instead of fish and didn't make us feel like a couple of clods. The tables were clean and the restaurant appeared warm and inviting. We would happily return and highly recommend Norma's seafood & steak.

I am a pretty picky person, I've been told! That being said, this place is, by far, the best seafood restaurant I've ever been too. The shelled crab dinner and the seafood pasta is all I've tried but they were exceptionally good! Waitress was well informed and knew the menu like the back of her hand! Great prices too!

Decent choice for a casual seafood meal in Seaside. Visited Norma's Seafood & Steak during our stay in town. The ambiance is casual and welcoming, fitting for a beach town. I tried the clam chowder, fried oyster appetizer, and fish and chips- all of which were decent. The chowder was creamy with an average portion of clams, though it could use a bit more seasoning. The fish and chips were tasty, but nothing extraordinary. Service was friendly but a tad slow. Prices are somewhat reasonable for the portions you get. Overall, Norma's is a solid choice if you're in the mood for seafood without any frills. A solid 3.5/5 experience."

Reasonable prices. We enjoyed fresh oysters and a whole crab! It was delicious. The crab was a little well done for my preference but overall all great choice. My husband ordered the halibut which was also over cooked but well seasoned. Their menu is big so there are many options.

Norma’s is a good spot for a quick casual dinner. Even on an off season week night they were pretty busy which is always a good sign. We were seated immediately and drinks cdd as me out quickly. Yelp photos showed their menu as much more complicated but we had a two sided laminated sheet with enough variety for us but not too complex (probably prompted by covid but it’s a good thing in this case). Rib steak was a nice boneless cut, could’ve been a bit thicker for my taste but they nailed medium rare!! Flavor was good but flat, salt & pepper helped. Crab cakes were big and moist! Crabby flavor without being overly fishy or stale—no canned crab nest here! Clam chowder was excellent, super creamy and loaded with clams. They did lose some points for flair, though. The presentation was just lagging a bit. Foil wrapped butter & a plastic cup of sour cream do not belong on a $35 plate—a scoop of whipped butter, scoop of sour cream, and some chives on the potato would dress up the plate quite nicely. Desserts we’re fantastic. Key lime pie & peanut butter pie are house made and worth every penny! I’d surely go again but the plainness betrays their prices. Still, good B+ effort.

The atmosphere was classic. The service was on pointe. The bussers especially were very polite & have manners. They said "excuse me" any time they grabbed an empty plate. The server was polite, attentive, & sweet. The food was good. Though for the pricing, I would make a few slight changes to elevate the meals a little: Spicy Garlic Cheese Bread - was good & there was no shortage of cheese! Though maybe mixing the dry seasoning in with the butter spread would be better versus the dry seasoning on top of the cheese. The flavors were there, but texturally the dry rub was a little different on the bread. Side Salad - the greens were fresh & there is an option to have shrimp on it. Though without the shrimp you just have greens. Maybe add some tomato, crotons, and/or cucumber. Shrimp Fettuccini - was good & there was no shortage of sauce or shrimp! Though if the shrimp was grilled it would have tasted so much better. If this is an option then I missed it. Blue Cheese Burger - cooked perfectly to my partner's preference! Key Lime Pie - tall with no shortage of filling or whipped cream! Was so great! Drinks - beer was a perfect pour, not every place does that. They filled all the way to the top! Strawberry lemonade was tasty!

Food was delicious and fresh. I ordered a halibut and it was very good. My wife ordered a crab and it came a great piece. Also delicious. And we also had oysters for apperitizers. We loved our meals. Service was great. We recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for fresh seafood.

This is a casual dining spot just 1 block north of the main strip (Broadway) in Seaside. We ordered the halibut fish and chips, crab fettuccine, and of course, we had to try their clam chowder. At the time of writing, their crab fettuccine was $43, which we thought was a little pricy, but it was literally full of crab 🦀 and worth the price. The halibut was good, although their batter was quick to become soggy. The fries were also just mediocre, and the alfredo was lacking in the flavor of its sauce. A bit of lemon juice would help brighten the sauce a bit. What I really liked was the service. Matt was excellent and checked in enough to make sure you had what you needed but wasn't bothersome. He was friendly and attentive, which is becoming rare in the service industry. The clam chowder is definitely something to try, not too salty, and served with warm bread and butter.

The picture doesn't do the food justice. It looked so good. I dove right in and ate five pieces before I thought to take a photo. My favorite supper is fish and chips, and this was great. A convention was in town, and every restaurant was full, but Norma's was able to turn tables quickly, and we only waited 15 minutes. Staff was friendly and attentive.

Great experience! We popped in for an early dinner and I have to say the sautéed halibut was really good. Nice menu and all of our meals were really good. We will be back

After receiving recommendations about this place, I decided to try their renowned soup first, and it definitely lives up to the hype. The soup holds a remarkable 47-year legacy. Additionally, I also had the opportunity to sample their fish and chips, and the service was exceptional.

The outside looks better than the inside. Very casual place. Due to its appearance and plastic cups the wife and I felt that the hamburgers were the best choice. If you like your burgers well done this is the place for you. The burgers were well seasoned and came out hot.
