Sorry for the paragraphs as a warning! I've been to lots of escape rooms. And I had to simmer a little while to figure out what to rate this one. I hope this doesn't come off as negative, given it has so many 5-star review. Bottom line, it's good. The setting and immersion are top notch, and the puzzles are mostly intuitive without feeling too much like "find code, insert code on X lock". HOWEVER, this will probably be a divisive escape room among people (or at least it was for my friends). The biggest knock I have is that there is A LOT of narrative to the room we did, way more than than the average escape room. Performed by very skilled actors that really played their part, but still a lot of exposition nonetheless. For people that enjoy being fully immersed and are into the story behind a room, it's really well done. For anyone that's in it just for the game and puzzles, it drags on a little too long. Half my group was uninterested in the story and theatrics, and another one or two were captivated the entire time and wanted to listen in on every word. I personally sat in the middle, and by the end, I felt the acting was overstaying its welcome in the interest of the group. In addition, everyone in my group agreed that the escape itself, while thematically cool, was constricted by the space. The best escapes our group is used to are ones that require us to go through two or more rooms, and require a significant degree of teamwork and puzzling together. The room we had was a singular room, which meant that we never felt like we found as many new things, had less sense of progression and discovery, and had us wishing there were puzzles that required us to be in two or more different locations at a time. Most of the actual puzzles themselves fit the theme though. Nicely done IMO. At the end of the day, this room really nails the theme and immersion. The only other Escape Room business that I've felt this with is at 13th Gate in Baton Rouge, LA (which to me is top-tier). And for anyone that has less escape room experience, this is not one to be missed. For my group which is full of escape room hunters though, we really wished the puzzles and mechanics were more up to par. So I'm landing at a 4, but for the right people, this is easily a 5+. Props to the staff and actors for doing an amazing job by the way!

Deserves each and every one of those 5 stars! Beautifully decorated rooms, gorgeous ambience - don’t want to give anything away- but definitely highly recommend. The actors were amazing- Madame Daphne was brilliant, and created an engaging background to the experience! Get your tarot reading done with her 😊

I don't think that enough people in Houston know that their city is home to one of the finest escape room companies in the world. Strange Bird Immersive's "The Man From Beyond" is a stunning creation. It manages to be fun, exciting, and emotionally impactful. I have played over 1,100 escape rooms (no exaggeration), and this remains one of my absolute favorites. If you haven't been, do yourself a favor and try this game out.

Wow. I didn't think it would be possible to see an escape room with only 5 star ratings but now I completely understand! As soon as we walked into the waiting room, the whole experience was incredibly immersive and amazing. The actors do an INCREDIBLE job and really help immerse you in the scenario. I wish I could go into more detail about how good the actors are, but I don't want to spoil anything! Just wow! I've done many escape rooms and The Man from Beyond was the best one I've ever done. The experience includes some immersion before the escape room begins, and it is incredibly well done. The puzzles in the room are so thematic, you just feel completely immersed at all times. We had a group of 6 and felt like there was ALWAYS something for each person to work on, which I appreciate a lot. I will say, the puzzles are definitely not the hardest i've done, but they were really clever and thematic, so I didn't mind at all. I highly recommend this room for anyone who enjoys immersion. I brought along 3 first time escape room players and they loved it! I don't think I could recommend a room more.

Excellence must come naturally to the team at Strange Bird. I have played many escape rooms but none of them were quite like this. The attention to detail and the quality of the story were truly mind boggling. Never have I experienced such emotion in an escape room as I did here. Come for the escape room, stay for the story telling. It is a sight to behold, and I see no possibility that any guest of this fine establishment leaves feeling this experience deserves anything less than 5 stars. In fact, most people seem to agree it deserves more.

I had the absolute pleasure of experiencing this once in a lifetime escape room immersion. I've had the pleasure of trying out different escape rooms ranging from South Korea, Sacramento CA, San Antonio TX, and now this place in Houston and I can promise you've never experienced something like this. Strange Bird Immersive deserves all the accolades it's received! 11 out of 10, will return every time they provide a new experience!

I’ve done 80+ rooms and this is one of the best. Fair warning, it might ruin other escape rooms for you because it’s THAT GOOD. The actors (shout out to Angela) were phenomenal and completely draw you into the story. Great set, but the best part is the special effects. I was continuously delighted by the twists and turns. It’s a theatrical escape room experience which I cannot recommend highly enough. It’s one of the top in the world for a reason.

If you're even remotely into escape rooms or "mystery dinners", you should grab your friends and book an experience with Strange Bird Immersive IMMEDIATELY!!! We had an amazing experience with The Man From Beyond. My friend and I are still marveling about all the care and attention that went into the design and executive and have said that we will be back for every escape room this group puts out in the future. Even my husband who hasn't enjoyed escape rooms in the past said that apparently he likes a GOOD escape room. I would write on with more praises but don't want to accidentally spoil anything. All I can say is... If you're in a position to be reading escape room reviews, you should go ahead and just book this one.

Loved our “Man From Beyond” experience. We opted for the VIP package and adored the readings and extra time to get immersed in the space. I’ve done a little over 100 escape rooms and this is easily one of my favorites. Some of the better use of actors in a game that I’ve seen, with an engaging story and puzzles suited to the theme. Angela was our Daphne and she blew it out of the water. Fantastic job! She was a wonderful actress and really helped our transition into the story. Highly recommend.

Excellent puzzles and sensational production. But it was really made it an EPIC experience was our Beautiful Madame Daphne (Jeana) and the not just Okay but pretty Great Houdini (Christian). I haven’t had that much fun in ages. Definitely a day I’ll remember forever!

All the 5 star reviews should speak volumes about this place! We went today and I was blown away by every detail that was put into this place! I have been to escape rooms all over the country, and this one…well I can’t say enough about it! The actors were so great and really got you involved with the story line! The story details were so accurate and researched…the room was fun and challenging. I highly recommend you get there and go through the experience. 10 out of 10 and I wish I could leave more than just 5 stars for this place…bravo!

Took my 15 yo daughter & 5 of her friends for a birthday gift. Under 16 requires adults to be with the kids during the whole experience. This was everything we hoped it’d be! Unique, fun and cool for teens to do! I’d definitely come back if there was a different storyline/room to be done!

My family and I went all in for The Man From Beyond and let me tell you how much fun I had. The puzzles: great, the actors: fantastic, laughs: my face hurt by the end. I have never done an escape room before and this place has set the bar very high. I hope to do other experiences here in the near future.

“The Man from Beyond” is unique must play experience that cleverly blends the elements of immersive theatre with that of a traditional escape game. Within the experience, a full narrative story unfolds through the use of actors, special effects, as well as the puzzle elements themselves. I live out of state and had been waiting for a very long time for the opportunity to visit Strange Bird. Having now played the room, it fully lived up to my expectations. This company absolutely deserves a 5 star rating. If you live in the area, or are just visiting and want to experience something truly special, then a visit to Strange Bird should be at the top of your list.

Escape rooms have become some of our favorite friend experiences and this room did not disappoint. It was one of the better escape rooms we’ve done and I can’t wait to experience more like this. It was worth every second! The acting was a great way to get us involved. The puzzles were great and the story was *chefs kiss*. Don’t sleep on this experience.

Did the man from beyond with 3 others. We had a great experience. Acting parts were perfect and made the story our own. As an owner myself, I'll say I've played many escape rooms and this one is one of the best I've played. Highly recommend this game.

This place is absolutely one of the best so far. You have to book the appointment and it a bit pricey but totally worth it. It an experience worth having, I would explain but it a secret experience you have to experience. Excellent story line and plot. Amazing actors and brilliant technology and clues.

My wife and I went with our friends tonight for a private session and we couldn't have been more impressed. The only negative thing is now we may have been spoiled because no other escape room sounds like they'll come close to this experience. We'll be back for a new story

If you don't know, these guys are rated one of the top escape rooms in the whole country. Not sure how they only have 200 reviews on Google. We traveled to Houston specifically for them and they did not disappoint - what a beautifully crafted experience to share with friends. Can't recommend it enough, can't wait for Lucidity. The immersive theatre industry is better for Strange Bird. P.S. Angella was fantastic/amazing/delightful.

Intricately crafted, gorgeously scripted, and passionately performed – Strange Bird transports you, mind and body, into the mystical world Beyond. But that's only half its magic, and the more mundane half by far. Its real trick is the feeling it leaves you with long after the curtain has closed. A feeling -- you would acknowledge only half-sheepishly -- that the world of wonder you've departed might actually be real, swirling just a handsbreadth outside your own. Seeing, as Strange Bird cautions, is only a small part of believing, but this fantastic experience is something you really must see to believe.

My husband surprised me for my birthday last year and brought me to Strange Bird Immersive. It was an amazing experience and I highly recommend to everyone who likes Escape Rooms. I really wish they would open more rooms, I would definitely go to them!!! So much fun.

Went last weekend for a birthday party. The whole group had a great time! The set up was excellent. Very authentic. We very much enjoyed interacting with the actors. Great job! And we actually escaped we well! Can’t say more than that! Sorry!!

One of my favorite escape rooms ever! Super immersive, great live actors, fun puzzles, well-designed aesthetic. Even their waiting room is charming. Had a blast from start to finish, can't wait for more rooms from them! Truly a gem, one of the best things you could do in Houston, couldn't recommend it more!

COOLEST THING IVE EVER DONE!!!! the whole place is weird and spooky and hilarious. even the lobby is cool as hell. really entertaining, amazing acting, pretty spooky, and the puzzles are very satisfying to complete!! it felt like i was in the audience pulled up on stage of a play and had to find clues to finish the story. im glazing but fr this place was so cool lmao
