Well worth the $8 per person for my wife and I. We spent over 2 hours walking around and reading the many, many exhibits. We just came to St. Joseph for a little getaway for a couple of day, and I am so glad we chose to go through this museum. It gives you a great feel for the history of the whole town and area not just the building. Also some great western history in general. Also, it is really well kept up. Kudos to the association. It is in a part of town (we walked all through downtown) that is fairly run down, but the museum is fantastically well kept.

The Patee House Museum is quite a fantastic place. The history they have captured is amazing. You would never believe they have a train station AND a train in here. There is so much to see on the 3 floors of this surprising museum. You need to go out of your way to experience this gem. DO IT !!!

This museum is very well put together. It has a great exhibit on the Pony Express It has a Main Street walkthrough where you felt like you were put back into time and got to walk into each one of the shops and see what it would be like during that time frame. To get the full experience, be ready to take some time and read the description on each exhibit. There are multiple levels to explore and an elevator to move between the floors. The Pantee Carosel is also a must see. Overall worth the time to explore this museum!

This is the most interesting place to visit. It highlights Walter Cronkite's home. There is a stage coach. Inside the museum/hotel is a real steam engine. There are numerous exhibits to communication, pharmacy, mail and life in those times.

This place was absolutely amazing. They have an entire train inside the building! Thousands of historical items and photos as well as friendly staff that didn't hover. The Jesse James house was overwhelming. You could really feel a somber energy over the entire place. Unforgettable experience and I strongly advise others to try it out. My child had a lot of fun as well. Will definitely come again, as we were there for quite some time and still didn't get to experience everything. Five stars all the way!

We wanted to visit the Patee House. When we entered we were told: Sorry, we'll be closing IN 15 MINUTES! Well, then I wanted at least watch one or the other in a quick run while my wife sat down on the "horn couch" and waited for me. So I only wanted to pay one entrance fee, but the lady at the register took $14 from my VISA card for two people. I was back in 14.5 minutes only to be told I had half an hour left! ?!?!?

What a great surprise! We came for the Jesse James House, which was small but fun and informative. Ended going to the Patee House next door and WOW! You could spend days in there! Little bit of everything, would DEFINITELY recommend! Gorgeous working carousel too!

This is a can’t miss museum. I had no idea how rich the history of St Joseph, MO was. They had things from every era. I didn’t know that in 1863 the government allowed banks to print their own currency.

Amazing museum. 3 stories (!) of surprises at every turn dealing with various eras of St. Joseph history. Pony Express business offices were here. On the grounds are an old merry-go-round and the house Jesse James was shot in. We spent 4 hours there it was so interesting. Worth a visit.

It's impossible to describe the collection here. You have to see it for yourself. What a great window into the history of St. Joseph. It was an accident that I stumbled in and I'm so glad I did.

3 floors of great items from the past. Only $7 to get in. Well worth it. But give yourself time because there is so much to see.

This place is amazing! It's a trip back in time, three stories tall, & it is huge! Should allow 2 to 3 hours to see everything. We will definitely check Γ¬t out again. It's a self guided tour, so you can take your time.

Amazing museum! There was so much to look at and you even got to go into the train. There were very nice little buildings that showed how everything used to look and you could spend hours there just looking at everything. There were a lot of things you could interact with as well and overall I highly reccomend this museum to anyone interested.

Excellent museum of the old midwest. Old hotel, original headquarters of the Pony Express. Every display is a collection of different regions historical artifacts. For example, one room is Walter Cronkite's fathers dental office. Walter Cronkite was born in St. Joseph and his grandfather and father were dentists there. They recently opened the 3rd floor so you can see the original hotel rooms. Second time here, did not pay the extra $ to see Jessy James house this time.

We had so much fun here. We had a bigger group which included my parents, my husband, our 4 children . Ages 4-73. We all loved it. We went on Memorial Day and we all had so much fun with the scavenger hunt. My kids all said it was the highlight of the visit for them. So many interesting things to see and it's all set up so nicely. My kids especially loved the carousel and the toy room. They even enjoyed climbing the stairs to the third floor. We will definitely be back.

Very beautiful museums. The man at Jesse James house was so sweet and very knowledgeable. The woman at the front desk of the Patee house could use a lesson in kindness from that man. She was fairly snotty with our family. The Patee house itself was filled with amazing historical facts and artifacts. I will be back next time we drive through St. Joe

Awesome museum, kids especially loved the carousel! They especially enjoyed finding the stuff that doesn't belong in the exhibits and getting the railroad share certificate at the end of it all. I enjoyed seeing all the old time toys, penny arcade, electronics by Edison, old Western town replica with different shops and the actual house inside the museum, and the train station. Super impressed. Thank you

Patee house was probably a nice museum, the staff was so rude, we drove 90 minutes to see this, arrived 30 minutes before close, and they advertised 4pm closing, it closes at 3:45pm, you are warned, we needed the restroom when we got there, she said that's for paying customers only, of course we pay at all places we go and donate generously, we love history. Terrible woman and this place in a VERY scary neighborhood, lock your car. It is a well kept museum. We ran through in about 10 after a 5 minute bathroom break.
