First time in Atlanta and checked out The Vortex. Service was excellent. Our server was super friendly and working hard to make sure his tables were taken care of. He recommended trying a burger. So my wife and I shared a burger and it was tasty. The draw to this place is their crazy sense of humor, the cool interior and the giant skull door. It's a very unusual place and we're happy we checked it out.

This is a stylin’ restaurant and bar with superior food and service. The facility is heavily decorated in a funky TGI Fridays kind of way. They feature a wide range of specialty burgers. Their sides are all quite nice - we especially liked the plantains. The service is friendly, professional, efficient and engaging. We definitely enjoyed the Vortex. You must be 21 to enter the property.

Parking is a bit tight here. It’s a small shopping center, with only a handful reserved for Vortex. If you don’t get here by noon, good luck finding a spot! There are two entrances. Main facing street, and accessible ramp behind next to Vortex parking spots. Note: ramp takes you to covered patio seating. COVID prevention: Staff are friendly, and multiple times throughout my visit I saw employees sanitizing tables and high touch surfaces. Employees also wear masks. Food is very very good, with portions a lot larger than I expected for the price. I had the BBQ Mac & Cheese burger, with Dixie Wrecked Taters as a side. Both among the best I’ve ever had! Fried cheesecake is very good, too. Fried just right, not so crunchy it feels like it’ll cut your gums, but not soft enough to feel gross.

Extensive menu with lots of delicious options with hilarious descriptions. Took a while for me to decide but ended up going for the Alpine Steak Burger. It was delicious and cooked perfectly. Just be aware that any burger you get will be messy! Went for tater tots with my meal which were great but could tell they were made in the same oil as the fried desserts. Fine with me but be aware of this. We were able to seat ourselves and choose a table on the top dock. Waitress was friendly and overall great. Main downside of this visit was the wait, especially for the drinks which were simple fountain drinks. But overall, would definitely visit again to try the different options on the menu!

This place is a cool niche, they have one in every town but I still like them. Heard the burgers were outstanding. May have gotten my hopes up a bit too high. The burger was good, atmosphere was fine, service was fine. All was a 3-4 star max. If I could go 3.5 I would but otherwise nothing above average.

This place is absolutely insane! My guilty pleasure of choice. They have huge burgers that are delicious, wings to die for, and a heartattack burger with eggs that will leave you, stuffed like a pumpkin. I visited just to see if the offerings were as wickedly delicious as I had heard; and they were!! The bar is fully stocked with many different signature drinks, the vibe is laid back and trendy and the location is convenient. The staff were nice and very knowledgeable about each dish. This is definitely not the kind of place that I would visit often but I certainly cannot wait to go back!

The Vortex is a 21 and over bar. There are very limited free parking and many more paid parking spots. Seating is fairly tight inside, however, they do have a patio area upstairs. It's enclosed and less crowded but not as much of the Vortex atmosphere. They have a very well-stocked bar and are likely to have or able to make any drink you want. We ordered the muthaclucking chicken rolls for an appetizer. They were amazing. The dipping sauce was amazing. I got the plain ole cheeseburger. I've eaten several times and have tried many of the specialty burgers so I wanted to try just a plain burger. It was far from plain. The patty tasted very good. It came with lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, and pickles. The condiments were on the table. I would recommend that burger. I got Tatar tots with mine. My daughter got fries, the tots are better. I also got a bowl of chili. I was impressed. The menu says it's hot, to me it had the right amount of heat. Not too hot to eat but just right. I do like spicy foods though. Dessert. We got the fried cheesecake and funnel cake fries. They were both amazing. Between the two, I prefer the cheesecake. Needless to say, I left stuffed. I recommend the Vortex if you're looking for a great burger and a good atmosphere.

Cool place with fun decor. The cuban sandwich with plantains was amazing. I got the chicken taco rolls on recommendation and I love that they have a ton of cilantro in them.

The Vortex was high on our list of places to check out while in Atlanta, and I’m so happy we were able to make it! My boyfriend took down the single coronary bypass burger and was very full after, but really enjoyed it. The tots and fries were delish! I had the mini bbq pork sliders and loved that they were topped with mac. The side of mac was also so good! My boyfriend’s mom loved the 50/50 chili too. It was such a cool vibe here and our waiter was super friendly, and he told my boyfriend he was impressed with him taking down the burger. I wish I could come here all the time!

Just like the Midtown location, this is a fun, loud, messy, and delicious staple for American food. Everything is a huge portion, messy, and delicious. Don't expect healthy options, but that is not what this place is about. A little bit of a tourist trap, but their burger selection is legendary and they have lots of awesome drinks on tap and rotating. The decor is fun and eclectic, and this location has multiple seating areas upstairs and downstairs. Came with a group, so note they won't seat you until everyone is present. Have your IDs ready!

Decided to take a first timer here. She enjoyed it, I personally haven't been in years but definitely remember it was good. I had the black and blue. She had the well I can't remember but she liked it 😂. Service was good and prompt. Only thing I didn't enjoy was smokers smoke right outside of the exit door and you can smell the cigarette smoke back Inside from outside. Other than that always good food.

Went here with 3 friends on a Sunday night. There was a good wait (30 minutes), but it was clear that was from the number of people wanting to eat here, not the service. They have a really good drink menu at good prices, and we all loved our burgers. I also ordered the cheese balls for an appetizer - really great and really shareable. The vibe of the Vortex was fun and cool - I definitely recommend eating here.

Great place! 21+ Food was amazing! Service was great! Drinks were tasty! We got the cheese balls and a chicken appetizer, then the 3 of us ordered burgers! The zombie apocalypse was great. The hells fury is soo hot, don't order it if you don't wanna burn your taste buds 🤣 the Mac an cheese and fries were also delicious

A nice place for burgers. We went at lunch time during the week, so we only sampled the food. The place wasn't crowded, but it looks like it may get so at night. Note that even if you have no drinks and you go during the day you still have to be 21 to get in. Burgers pretty good. Somehow we felt that the ones at the other vortex location were even better. On the other hand, service here was faster and more attentive. Our waiter was checking on us at just the right times. The atmosphere is a bit of one of a kind, as you can guess from my pictures. The four horsemen and fried plantains were very good. Definitely recommend it. There is some reserved free parking, but it may get full at night. They also have an upstairs, but we ate on the ground floor. Definitely recommend this bar!

This was a very unique experience for me as usually I don't go out to bar type areas but this place just called out in an interesting way! The atmosphere is really interesting with a good feel of adult humor and welcoming. I guarantee this is a no kids zone as they ID right at the waiting area. Service was really nice and quick even during what looked like a decently busy time! And then the food itself was amazing! I got a burger with Mac and cheese, bbq sauce, and bacon and while messy, was absolutely delicious and worth the affordable price! Would highly recommend it if you're in the area!

Yep, that was good. Cool vibe with great burgers. 21 and up only. These servers will sell you the shirt off their backs! Go the Texas burger with tots. Meat was fresh and juicy, and the balance of the burger was perfect. Parking is a nightmare around here, so be prepared. Check them out when you want a good burger....and no brats running around.

Loved the vibe! Stopped in with a friend from out of town while we were visiting 5 points. This was a cool little spot. I’ll definitely try some food and the funnel cake the next time, and I’ll post pictures!

This is a bar that serves food. We are in our 50's and were carded as we entered. Service was friendly. The menu is available online. Read the rules, they are funny and yet necessary in current society. The food was amazing.

Ugh, I am really pretty sad to give this place only three stars because based on reviews and pictures online, I thought for sure I was going to be getting a five star experience. But the burgers were literally “just ok”. Nothing super memorable , pretty middle of the road. Atmosphere is kind of loud so if you are looking for something like that, a loud kind of dive feel, the vortex is that. Middle of the road burgers and middle of the road environment.

This place is so cool. The atmosphere is a bit Gothic and eclectic. Just check out the pix to see. The staff are nice, professional and quick. The food is amazing with huge portions! Tons to choose from on the alcoholic drink menu. The prices are fair for the amount of food you receive. It was a fun, unique place in ATL to grab lunch. Will be coming back!

Super cool place for lunch. Be prepared to pay $20 to park in the parking lot. I think that was quite expensive just for those going to eat… Other than that, the food was amazing. We got nachos and wings, which were both delicious!

I am not good at humility so bear with me while I try okay? I am a good cook. There isn't much I can get out that I can't make better at home. The burgers at The Vortex might be an exception. Thats about the best I can muster. I loved the whole vibe about this place. There is a part of my soul that resonates when with people that are so committed to being excellent at what they do they have no shame being a little pretentious about it. I might get to Atlanta again soon. But what is not in doubt is every future trip will include a stop here.

I’ve been wanting to try this place long before I moved to GA, it’s been on my list ever since I saw it on TV a long time ago. We went with friends from back home and everyone loved it. I can’t wait to go back. If they wouldn’t have been so busy then I’d have definitely bought some to go beer and their pint glass to go with it. The laughing skull house beer is great and the decor is so cool here. So much to look at and take in.

23 year old me is furious I’m here at 2pm on a Saturday for brunch and not getting blacked out with my pals. Times change. Being 23 is hell. Sorry for anyone in that situation currently. Food is incredible. Servers are incredible. An absolute trash dream of joy. The chimichanga with Mac n cheese inside was my favorite. Also the fried pickle spears. 10/10.

Amazing burgers cooked to perfection 😋 thank you chef for your talents! The Pickle Rick was sooo good and the side salad was seriously the best I've ever had, with the best ranch dressing EVER!! Great service, an obvious great atmosphere, all in all, if you've never been, go! *No kids allowed*

This is an awesome spot for lunch. They’ve got a very good selection of burgers and drinks, and the vibe of the place is just awesome. Decorations/signs everywhere, and the wait staff make it a fun environment. This place is for people 21 and up…even if you’re only going to have food you have to be 21 or older or they’ll ask you to leave. In the hour or so I was there, 3 couples were turned away because one of them was under 21, or they tried to show a picture of their ID instead of the physical ID. I definitely recommend a visit to the Vortex!

It was okay. The burgers are overpriced for what you get. Do yourself a favor and go to Old Chicago and get double the meat for the same price. The BBQ Mac N Cheese burger looks amazing when it comes out but everything gets drowned out by the BBQ sauce. That’s all you’ll taste. Best thing here is probably the $3 mystery shots.

We saw this restaurant the last time we visited Little Five Points and decided to try it for lunch today. A shared appetizer, two sandwich entrees, a shared dessert, and two soft drinks were just under $60. We did not have any drinks from the bar, but it their menu had a few tasty options, and the ladies behind us were loving their shots!! We had no wait and sat upstairs. Our waiter was amazing! Friendly, knowledgeable, and a lot of fun. We started with a 1/2 order of Barracho Nachos. They hit the spot as a munchable while we perused the menu. My husband ordered the Original burger with tots, and I had the Grilled Cheesy MOFO (minus the pepper jack) with tomato soup. My husband enjoyed his burger. My sandwich was delicious! The soup didn't really accompany the sandwich the way I wanted. It's a good soup, it just wasn't as tomato flavored as I prefer with my cheesy sandwich. We finished with the funnel cake fries, which were super fresh and yummy! We can't wait to visit again.

The food was great and the servers were excellent. This was my first time in ATL and my native-GA husband insisted we had to go and I was not disappointed. Very cool vibe and so much eclectic stuff to look at lol A must-see if you're in Little Five Points!

The place is smaller than I expected, which is absolutely irrelevant as the food here is AMAZING! I ordered their three little pigs sandwich and was in love. The meat was delicious and juicy. I'm not typically one for bacon, but it was cooked just right. Their barbeque sauce is some of the best I've had. Absolutely to die for. Fries were crispy and cooked to perfection. We arrived early, like around 11:30-11:45am, and we didn't even wait at all. We definitely lucked out on that since there's always a line here. Will definitely return, no questions asked.

We loved it! I recommend before you go, read their House Rules...it will help you prepare and know what you are going on for. It is a tiny bar...it is a experience for sure. It is a Atlanta institution. The food was great!! Bad for your diet, but great! Be patient and enjoy yourself!! Thank you Vortex for a great time!

Finally tried this place for the first time and it didn’t disappoint. We got there around at 7 and only waited 15 minutes even though the hostess said it would be 20-45. The place is packed so people clearly love it here! The barbecue-mac&cheese burger with onion rings was very good. I will be returning to try other burgers.

21+ restaurant and bar with risky decor. They had such a large burger menu that it was tough to choose. They have Impossible patties for any vegetarians and the option to put your burger on a lettuce bun like I had here for a more keto option. The servers are very laid back and chill, slightly sarcastic, but super friendly/helpful! Also the menu item names can be hilarious and edgy.

  • 5/5 Marissa B. 2 years ago on Google

75¢ to grill the onions that already come on there? That loses this place a star. Food: Burger is good. Tots are good. Service: i waited for 15 minutes before anyone came to my table. It wasn’t super busy.

I stopped in here January 22nd for lunch around 2:00. I didn't catch my server's name but she did an excellent job. I ordered the Sk8 or Die (available with or without booze) – coconut rum (or sprite), lime, grenadine, almond/orange simple syrup and the ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE™ Burger topped with BBQ pork, spicy honey BBQ sauce, pepper jack cheese & a sunny side up egg on Texas toast. Both of these items was excellent. I've been to The Vortex L5P on several occasions and have never been disappointed with anything that I've received. I'll definitely be back.
