It’s official! This is the worst place ever. This is my second time coming and being disappointed with my overall experience. I would give no stars but to give a review I have to put this down. So, the first picture you see is the so called shrimp and grits! Where should I start: it was clumpy, dry, no seasoning, and such a small amount for a high price. Then you have the second picture which was the so called famous pasta. Not sure what was so famous because it was poorly seasoned, tasted like flour and over cooked shrimp. The water tasted like sink water unfiltered. All the food was warm or cold. Nothing was hot. For a $225 tab we should have had an amazing dine and we did not. I would advise you to not go here and find a better place to wine and dine. Because I promise you this not it. The only thing that was a hit was the live band. The place was better when I use to come before the pandemic. 👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾

The live band was the best thing about this place!!! When the band asked if the food was good, the audience went silent! Not one person said yes. Not One! Although our sever Nina was new to this restaurant, she was not new to servicing and need a lot more training. She was not rude but reeked of cigarette smoke and kept forgetting things. At one point, our party never received what we ordered and to make matters wost, she failed to take any type of ownership. The new manager Brianna took responsibility and refunded a portion of our bill. Her customer service was excellent!!

Great place for live music as they have music every night they are open. I tried their fried green tomatoes, fried chicken, and Brussels sprouts all great! I could have done without the grits. The moonshine cocktails were popping! I suggest reservations.

Went out for one of my birthday brunches and had a great time at this place. This was my 2nd time here so I kinda knew what to expect. The band was live after 1pm and kept a steady pace/groove. The food was pretty good on most things. The drinks were very good. Lots of them have moonshine in them but are very tasty. All of my party enjoyed the experience that was provided. I would definitely recommend and go back. The bathrooms were clean and well lit ☺️ Extras to know: 1) Parking is ONLY validated for the parking at 150 Carnegie (on a side street, kinda behind the restaurant)... 2) Only Two(2) hours table seating. 3) There's a live entertainment fee when the band is performing auto added to each person at the table. On the menu it says $5, but in person we were told $10.

Just happen to be working in the area and trying this place out for brunch on Sunday. My goodness love the service she was amazing! However, just a note it did take a long time to get food and the fries were cold when they arrived which is fine they’re just potatoes. I’m gonna eat them no matter what. Drinks were good. We had bloody Mary’s because … brunch. The music was absolutely phenomenal! They play live music pretty much every day. Which is great there is a five dollar charge per person to listen to the music. Which we did not know that before we made the reservations. But I don’t think you need reservations anyway it wasn’t very busy. The atmosphere is great! but just be aware there will be about 30 to 40 minutes where the live music will not be playing and there is only a two hour time limit that you can sit in your table. So for the hour and a half we were there we got to listen to the music for about an hour almost an hour. There were only six of us, and they added a gratuity to it. Just be aware of that. I don’t know if that’s all the time, but those two things add up quite a bit. So, even if the services is slow, they still get you money. my husband probably would’ve tipped 30 or $35 if the gratuity had not been on there already. And instead she only got 20 I think total, because he did leave her some more money on the credit card. I still recommend the place because of the energy of the music. The food was good. I wouldn’t say it was great. However, I do think that the bacon wrapped shrimp was probably the best thing I tasted from everybody’s food. I had just a regular cheeseburger with french fries, and like I said, the french fries were cold, cheeseburger was great. We were there on a Sunday for brunch so it wasn’t crazy parking outside but still we had to park quite a ways away.

Great evening dinner atmosphere. Surprised my hubby for his Birthday and Retirement by eating dinner here. Our dinner was delicious, waiter was attentive, music was excellent (R&B and Jazz Vocalist on this particular evening). We’ll be back!

My food was really good my friends did not enjoy there meal. We did not know there is an extra $10.00 per person charge for the band. Upon arrival there is a sign at the entrance also gratuity is already add. Overall a nice place to go with a group of friends or a great couples night out is great as well!

We had to wait due to running late to our reservation time; however, it was worth the wait and I’ll definitely be returning. I ordered the shrimp and grits, and my vegetarian friend ordered the fried tomatoes with grits. We both genuinely enjoyed our meals. Very delicious and tasty.

I was excited to try this place because I love live music. We had a reservation and were able to be seated fairly quickly on a Wednesday evening (around 8pm). Their ordering process is terrible. You order and pay via a QR code on the table (which is fine...many places are doing this), however we ordered cocktails and appetizers first as suggested by the "waitress" that came by to show us how to use the QR code and add the required per person entertainment fee. We waited about 10 minutes to order the meal thinking the appetizer and drinks would come out first/soon and to allow time to cook the entree. The meal came out first and when we asked about the appetizer the lady said sometimes it comes out later. She then proceeded to bring the appetizers right after. The drinks did not come out until we were almost finished with the meal. Nothing stood out. The smothered pork chop was more fat than meat (see the pictures). Literally there was hardly any meat. The green beans had no flavor. The rice and gravy was the best part and tasted good. The mac and cheese was ok. The fried green tomatoes with the okra and onion strings lacked flavor. The green tomatoes could have been cooked just a little more. The fried catfish strips lacked flavor as well. The drinks were very strong and tasty. The ambiance is nice and the music was great. We probably won't be back even with having an apartment in a high rise (walking distance) nearby. They really need to review the food ordering and delivery to the table process. You can't even go back to see an itemized list. We had to find the waitress to ask for a copy and then saw we were charged for something that we never received. Most people want to enjoy their drinks and appetizers while listening to the music, and then the food. I prefer to not having the entree come first, immediately followed by the appetizers and finally the cocktails when you are almost finished with the meal.

1st time visiting. Nice atmosphere, up to date. The live music was great, staff was friendly and attentive. The food on the other hand not so much. I would visit again though.

Visiting Atlanta this weekend for the Maxwell concert. This was our first stop. The atmosphere was nice, I really enjoyed the live band however, the food and drinks not so much. We ordered the catfish and fried green tomatoes which were good. I ordered a Mojito that taste like sugar water, very weak. My husband ordered a beer can't really mess that up. Then we ordered our main dishes. I had the pulled pork and slaw. It had no seasoning in it at all, none. The bbq sauce had a strange taste to it so that didn't help. Slaw was dry it was just shredded cabbage and collards. My husband ordered the ribs mac n cheese and mash potatoes. He ate a couple of bites of each and that was that. The fries were really good though. Maybe it was an off night, we'll try again next time we're in town.

We had a great time eating and listening to the band on a Sunday afternoon. They charge a $10 fee for the band, and it is worth it. We had a salad, which was good, grilled salmon good also, 1/2 slab of ribs very good, and 1/2 fried chicken, which was overcooked but edible. If you like sweet chicken skin, you will enjoy it. Our sides were mashed potatoes-good, fries-good, mac&cheese-subpar, and green beans-not my type. If you like your green beans steamed and crunchy, you will love them. You have to order and pay with the QR code, not through the waitress. Gratituty is included. Overall, everything was nice. They have nice clean restrooms, too.

Great entertainment! But it stops there, the server wasn't helpful at all. The food was cold and had no flavor, the manager was very nice though. This is a good place to only go and watch the band and have cocktails

Great place for some classic southern. Not nearly the best of the cuisine I've had but the atmosphere with the live band playing was great. Service seemed hit or miss. I'd feel very taken care of one minute but also feel completely ignored other times.

This was my first time experiencing this place. I actually took my wife here for her birthday! There was a live band which was excellent and the food was pretty good and the atmosphere was very chill. Mix of young and older people! We really enjoyed ourselves! Make sure you make a reservation though! Seating is limited!

The vibes, great. The music, great. The food? It’s good but it could be better. I ordered the fried chicken and fried catfish- the chicken’s flavor was great, but for my fried thigh piece to be dry and chewy, that means it has been very over cooked. The fried catfish on the other hand was perfect, and the sides were pretty good too. I’d recommend this place for the live music and cocktails. The food is 7.5 - 8/10, so pretty good but for the price i wouldn’t expect dry fried chicken. Note, there’s an extra fee per person for the live entertainment. Ours was an additional $10/pp.

Very happy that we found this place, just walking around. Had to go in and have the Chicken and waffles plus a couple moonshine drinks. Food was top notch and the service was equally great. We ate pretty early, the band was still setting up so we didn't get to hear the band but will definitely be back to check them out.

Nice cozy upbeat atmosphere. On Thursday night there was a band and a singer. Many people on the dance floor. The wait staff was friendly and helpful. Lastly food was delicious. I had the fried chicken plate. I. Was really impressed. I will return again. Best band I've heard in a long time. They played all the old school songs back to. Back.

Just left this amazing restaurant, the service and food was great. I’m visiting on a business trip and had the chicken and waffles. The chicken was fried to perfection and the waffle was delicious. I also tried the “hopping John” which is like dirty rice it was also good. There was live music which was “icing on the cake “ for me, the band was amazing! They did charge a $5 entertainment fee and I did have to order an entree but overall I was pleased.

Yo, this place was great. Even when they first open. They were playing some 80s videos and then had live music. If you have not been, make sure you understand what they charge for. It's not alot and it is worth every penny. If you like music and food, this is the place.

Incredible time for the music lovers!!! The food was okay, the catfish and grits was close but needed more seasoning, the shrimp and grits were drowning in the not so tasty sauce. But since the moonshine drinks were shining we pushed through. We all would be willing to try again for dinner and not brunch 🤷🏽‍♀️

I’ve been here a few times and I have had a great experience EVERY TIME! Even with my carry out order. Great experiences come to those who, sometimes have to wait. I’m happy that the waiting, is just a reflection on the high patronage of this fine establishment. I’m looking forward to being able to get reservations again. Just another reason that I love Georgia! Stay consistent and safe. God Bless!!!

Love this restaurant and the vibe. Live entertainment was great. Restaurant was full so had maybe a five minute wait and were seated at the bar. Not our favorite spot but by sitting at the bar we were able to interact with the maître d' Kevin. He was superb and dressed to the nines! We ordered the ribs, Mac & cheese, Parmesan cheese grits, and got the collards for free because they brought them too me instead of the Mac & cheese at first. The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because I ordered the shrimp appetizer, sweet tea and a beer on the first ticket and only got the beer. I had to ask for my tea and the appetizer, which was brought out after the entree. They were very busy but we were patient and just enjoyed the atmosphere and conversation. They have more wine selections than beer which is only a downside to us because we don’t drink wine. We will definitely go again on our next visit to Atlanta.

Great little joint. Food was awesome and based around southern menu, with equally good hospitality. The drinks menu was also long, and although many cocktails were moonshine fuelled (good if you like it and worth a try if you have never tried it before), they also have a good beer and wine selection. Live music is one of the other reasons to visit though and the band are right in the middle of the restaurant so you get the best opportunity to enjoy great music in great surroundings.

We accidentally walked into this place and we’re so glad we did. Will definitely make a point to make a reservation the next time we’re in Atlanta. Ordered the Shrimp & Grits, Jambalaya Pasta, Moonshine and Peach Cobbler. Wouldn’t change a thing, and would order the shrimp & grits 10x over!! Atmosphere and service made it even better. Highly recommend making this a stop during your next trip to Atlanta.

My husband and I were introduced to this restaurant when we moved to Atlanta in 2012. We’ve made it a point to patronize quite a few local restaurants as we familiarized ourselves with the city and Sweet Georgia’s Juke Joint has never disappointed. Everything from drinks and appetizers to the food, service, music and ambiance is fantastic! Thank you to all the staff for your dedication to exceptional service, consistency, and overall excellence.

First time there and hopefully won't be my last. I was there celebrating a friend's birthday and I must say our server made sure she was taken care of. The atmosphere was smooth with a smokey vibe. I loved the live entertainment; they sang their butts off and enter active with the guest. I ordered salmon with peach glaze, mashed potatoes and string beans. If it weren't for the glaze the salmon would not have any taste and the portions were very small for the price. Their methods for ordering food needs adjusting, especially if there's a big party. We have to scan the QR code to order. If two or more people is sitting at one table one person has to order for everyone or first person orders they have to close the the app for the next person can order and so on. Other than the food we left there smiling and dancing.

Visiting from Holly Springs NC with our 3 kids, decided to take a chance because the food looked so good and my husband and I wanted to treat ourselves after making through all the madness of the aquarium, Coca-Cola tour and all the site seeing, we wanted something a bit nicer than another kids restaurant. The food did not disappoint 👏👏👏 the music was great! Our kids LOVED IT! The staff was great, I would definitely recommend making a reservation. Parking was not bad, use the parking deck a block behind the restaurant at 171 Carnegie Way NW which makes it an easy 5 minute walk right up to the door. We had the pork chops, fried chicken, pulled pork 👏👏👏 everything was amazing.

  • 1/5 M J. 4 months ago on Google
So the menu had “pork chops”, not “pork chop”, however, I only got one small pork chop, rice and gravy, fried green tomatoes, order Banana Pudding, but they were out, and substituted for peach cobbler, and sweet tea Total with service fee $55.00. Question how can you be out of Bannana pudding when you just open 1 hour ago at 5pm. Please update your menu to show a singular and not plural pork chop. Also did not get any bread. As a resident of Downtown Atlanta, I was so ready to make this one of my regular, but I want be back.

The atmosphere here was great. The live music was refreshing and I even got a birthday shout-out. We did have a large group so service was a tad slow but nothing a nice beat couldn't solve. The food was great, I had the crab cakes Benedict (pictured), of course people had chicken and waffles which they liked along with a few other dishes I can't remember. Highly recommended.

  • 4/5 Garo B. 4 years ago on Google
The food was above average, I had the fried chicken and it was slightly under seasoned, crispy skin tho. The bacon wrapped shrimp was sweet and tasty! If you come in when they have the live band they add a 5$ charge to each guest. Overall it was a cool place.

This was my first time visiting. Nice atmosphere. Not crowded. The dinks were great. The food was bland, very little seasoning. The menu stated $5.00 entertainment fee, and the host said $10.00, which I was assuming because it was 2 of us, but it was $10.00 per person. A bit high for entertainment fee. 18% gratuity is automatically added. Regina Troupe, by the way, was amazing.

First time at the Georgia Juke Joint, I had the Shrimp & Grits soooo good & creamy. The wings were tender and I can taste the smoked flavor. The place is nice with live music & the staff was amazing!

The Sweet Georgia Juke Joint hosted a brunch to honor a 1998 graduate of North Carolina A&T State University, Mr. Michael S. Regan, Administrator of the US Environmental Protection Agency, induction into the National Black College Hall of Fame. The Juke Joint as it is affectionately called, was a perfect location for the event. The staff and management catered to every need of the attendees. Brunch is typically a Sunday affair. The event was held on a Friday. This excellent event is a testament to the staff and management's ability to flex and serve their patrons.

Stopped here after college move in for a late night dinner. Nice place with soulful atmosphere. The service was very good and food was just ok. Was here with friends and the kids so to much food to review but....the smothered pork chops were not good, maybe because I'm used to the being baked and not fried. A friend with us got a burger and took one bite then covered it with a napkin...Another thing that I didnt like is if you are there when I band is playing they automatically add $5 p/p to the bill....Why?? That should be changed. Could say much more but I'll leave it here. Only got three stars cause of the service.

Staff was friendly, prompt, and professional. Service was fast and delicious. the ambiance gives New Orleans vibes. I ordered the shrimp and grits and gumbo as an appetizer. Both were delicious but I'm a huge fan of the gumbo it just needs more rice but again it's an appetizer so understandable. The shingria moonshine rendition of a Sangria was superb. My only spat is the appetizer came out together with my entree' but all else was great.

The food was so good! Our server was great, the bartender made us some strong delicious drinks, and the live music was fire! Overall the experience was wonderful. Only negative was the QR code to order food. The concept was great but our cards kept not working and the orders didn’t go back so we ended up placing the order manually with the server.

The presentation of the food is great. The ribs were bland, the Mac and cheese was good, the shrimp wrapped with bacon was good and the peach cobbler could've been great if it wasn't so doughy. The fish was fried hard according to the person that had it. The grits had bell peppers and tomatoes in it. One can go a little too far with presentation. The porkchop was good. Fried green tomatoes were too salty. U can dress casual but men can't wear hats.

Just walking in was inviting. Everyone was nice. The chicken and waffles were good. The prices were up and down depending on what you ordered. The ordering is a little different because you have QR codes on the table to order your food and drinks. I may be a little behind the times. If you are there after 7pm there is a surcharge of $10 because really that's when the band and live music starts. All in all it was a nice environment and our waitress TT was great as well.
