Best pizza in Atlanta. I was in town for a week-long conference and it was so good the first time I came back again the next day, and I would have come back a 3rd time but got invited to ear elsewhere. I should have passed and just come back to Max's! Not only is the pizza incredibly satisfying, but the garlic parmesan wings and meatball appetizers are fantastic as well. Cool vibe in the place, and every seat in the restaurant has a great view of the coal fired oven.

We really enjoyed this place. We were at the aquarium, which has terrible food, and found Max's within walking distance. It was a great last minute place to go. The Caesar salad was good and we really enjoyed our pizza. We got the pancetta arugula pizza. Usually the arugula is over powering on a pizza like this, but they tossed the arugula in lemon pepper and it really kicked the flavor up a notch. I would definitely come here again.

Business dinner after a convention, understandable there would be order confusion with a large party. Pizza was good, white sauce option, good beer selection. In & outside seating, accessible restrooms.

I visited this restaurant with high expectations, especially to try their coal fire pizza, and I must say, I wasn't disappointed. The flavors of the pizza were spot on – the sauce and pepperonis were a delightful combination, hitting all the right notes for a pizza enthusiast like myself. However, I'm giving this place 4 stars because the pizza was slightly underdone for my taste. I prefer a crispy crust, and this one needed just a bit more time in the oven to achieve that perfect crunch. It's a minor detail, but for pizza, the crust can make a big difference. What truly took me by surprise were the lemon and herb wings. They were absolutely amazing! The balance of zesty lemon with the subtle hint of herbs created a unique and memorable taste. It's not often that a side dish stands out like this, but these wings definitely made a lasting impression. In summary, while the pizza was delicious but slightly underdone, the unexpected star of the meal were the lemon and herb wings. This place has great potential, and I look forward to seeing how they tweak their pizza cooking times in the future. The flavors are definitely there, and with a bit more attention to the crust, their pizza could easily become a favorite.

The pizza here is great, the atmosphere is fantastic (especially outdoors), but the pasta stole the show. This is one of the best shrimp scampi dishes I’ve had. The pizza is light and fluffy, and the two of us almost finished the whole pizza and pasta. Staff was super nice and accommodating when it was too cold to stay outside. You get to see the kitchen at work and there’s screens to watch TV games as well. Great dinner and/or hangout spot, highly recommend.

Ordered an appetizer, pizza, and dessert for two. Fantastic staff, fantastic choices, and fantastic flavor! Pricing was definitely reasonable, plus we had leftovers for later. We are visiting Atlanta and if/when we come back this will be a trip favorite.

Tried Max's for the first time while in ATL. Went with a Tradizionale and a build your own with pepperoni and sausage. Both had a good overall taste. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give it an honest 7.3 on a national level. Maybe a little higher for the area. Probably one of the better pizzas I've had in the area. Also went with the wings and they were pretty good. Place was pretty busy and service was good. No issues. Good experience overall.

We were at the World Congress Center attending the ATL Comic Convention and started to get peckish. Instead of succumbing to what was convenient in the Comic Con’s food court we decided to venture out to seek nourishment. My wife always finds the good restaurants via google maps. She picked out Max’s Coal Oven Pizza and boy I’m glad she did. Max’s Coal Oven Pizza is the real deal. Hot, fresh and delicious. From their caesar salad to their amazing Bianca Pizza, everything was quite amazing. The service was 5 star and we will be back! Thank you Max’s Coal Oven Pizza!

One the best places to eat Pizza. They have a nice outdoor patio, too. The pizza was delicious and great customer service. The prices were very reasonable. We had gone to the aquarium and decided to mot eat at the aquarium Cafe.. glad we did

Max's is a great place to stop an grab a delicious pie with the family if you're on your way to Georgia Aquarium or any of the nearby sports stadiums. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, very awesome staff, and a nice variety of menu items if you don't want pizza. Great atmosphere with nice wooden tables and seating, and good lighting that makes it a comfortable setting. Will definitely be back to try some of the other pies!

Loved my experience here! Super quick service! I got a pizza and wings on a Sunday afternoon in about 10 minutes! Wings were ok, could have used a bit more time in the fryer, pizza was good! The service and location was the best parts!

The pizzas are cooked in a coal oven, and the dough is awesome. Just a bit of crisp to hold the flavors. Sauce is a great flavor. Definitely a place to return to. Family friendly as well.

Great little pizza place walking distance from the convention center. Stopped in here for lunch and had a great experience. The salad tasted really good and pizza was awesome. If you're in the area or at a trade show at the GWCC, make sure to stop by if you're craving pizza.

Went out with a large group of people and everyone enjoyed their meal! Their menu is online so you will be needing a phone as they did not provide any physical copies. We didn’t ask though. Pizza is delicious! Slices were grabbed before pictures could be taken.

We had the "build your own" pizza, my wife and I ordered the half n half. It was our first try at coal fired pizza, we have only had wood fired before. Good taste, not too thick of a crust. Perfectly sized for two people serving. They have a pretty decent patio space, so if the weather is nice you must sit outside and enjoy. Perfect pitstop food place between aquarium and coca cola tours.

My experience at this establishment was amazing! We walked into Max’s Coal Oven Pizzeria, and decided to get our order to-go. We ordered two pepperoni pies and a garlic bread. The man at the bar worked very efficiently and our pizzas were given to us very quickly! We got our pizzas WAY faster than we expected, and we were very pleased with the service. As for the pizza itself, they were exploding with flavor! The tomato sauce was amazing, and the gooey cheese and pepperoni was mouthwatering! The crust was a little chewy, but it was still really good! The garlic bread was just wow, and it paired perfectly with the pizza sauce provided to dip it in! My overall experience was spectacular, and I would recommend this place to any pizza lovers around! And as for myself, I would most definitely eat here again! Thank you so much for the wonderful experience!

Great food, kid-friendly environment. No on-site parking, but $10 parking lot is close by. Ordered the burrata caprese, margherita pizza, and one build your own. Everything was good, and plenty of leftovers for a family of four. Including drinks around $60 before tip.

Service was excellent. Had two little kids and they were quick on getting their food. Their pizza is good. The “garlic knots” which is really flat bread wasn’t so great and maybe consider changing the name. Overall really enjoyed the food.

We came here before an event at State Farm Arena on a Wednesday night because it's within walking distance. We were seated right away and the service was great and very quick. We ordered an appetizer and a pizza. Both came out really fast. The food was delicious! Everything tasted fresh and the prices were great. The only thing I didn't like was the water. It had an aftertaste of dirt. Other than that, everything was fantastic.

Excellent quality pizza. 1 pizza for 2 people is more than enough. Cost is very reasonable for the quality food. Each pizza is $12 + $2 for each topping. We will be back. It is very near the Mercedes Benz Arena.b

Friendly service, comfortable atmosphere, and delicious pizza! Love how this is walking distance from our hotel, so it’s just a great location. The pizza is perfect for 2 people to share and so flavorful. Thin crust, so many topping choices, and served piping hot. I ordered the Margherita Pizza and I would order it over and over again. Indoor and outdoor seating options. Highly recommend!!

My friends and I were in town to watch the US Olympic Marathon Team Trials. We got an early reservation for lunch here. We were all there a few minutes before the restaurant opened at 11 am. The restaurant staff were all nice and friendly. We shared an order of the garlic knots and crispy polenta fries. Since I had just eaten breakfast, I only ordered Max's minestrone soup. The garlic knots were not bad. I do love garlic, the more the better. I also like polenta and those fries went well with the 2 different dips, Calabrian chili ketchup and basil pesto aioli. The soup was okay. However the portion was pretty small so not really worth it. My friends ordered 2 pizzas to share: one was meatballs & goat cheese and the other was arugula & prosciutto. My friends didn't finish their pizza and didn't want the leftover slices, so I had them boxed up so I could eat them later. Both of the pizza were good even several hours later.

My family and I came here after visiting the Coca-Cola museum and we had a great time! The place seemed busy but our food came quickly and was perfect. Our server Marquis was really nice and attentive. He always made sure we had refills and smiling faces. Thank you, Marquis! As for the pizza - WE LOVED THE TINY PEPPERONIS! The arugula & prosciutto pizza was good but the pepperoni outshined! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Thanks for making our first meal here in Atlanta super yummy and memorable!

A great place with great food, we ordered the Margherita pizza, meatball marinara, and garlic shrimp dip, it was all delicious. Best margherita pizza I’ve tried! Max pizza spot is a hidden gem. We had the Salumi, and it was cooked to perfection! Parking is not the best but its worth the inconvenience. We ate on the patio which was pretty relaxing (my opinion). I would use this place to catch up with friends and family. The servers were very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu and no pressure was applied to order. I will most definitely go back.

The chicken wings and the pizza were just good but not excellent. The pizza was supposed to be with the Bianca, but did not look like they advertised picture on the menu. What was amazing was the bread over the salad and the meatballs. It was thick, soft, fresh and flavorful :)

  • 5/5 Nathan D. 2 years ago on Google
Awesome place! We had went to the World of Coca-Cola and afterwards were looking for a place to get a bite to eat. Max's Coal Oven Pizzeria is about a block away. We didn't get pizza, instead I got a Meatball Hogie and my wife got a Chicken Parmesan Hogie. Both sandwiches came out quick with a side of pasta salad. The sandwiches were both delicious! The meatballs were tender and spiced right, there was a lot of cheese and the bread was soft inside with a light crisp on the outside, perfect! The chicken parm was exactly the same in quality, lightly breaded with the right amount of sauce and cheesy! We saw several other tables getting pizza, the pizzas looked great too. Plus the fella making the pizza, his work area is open to view (with protective screens, of course), so you can watch him work, nothing hidden in a back kitchen Great place!

A great local restaurant. We took a party of 9 to eat there and had a great experience. There was a variety of food ordered: meatball sandwiches, shrimp scampi, spaghetti, and of course pizza. Everyone was pleased with their meals. The pizza was exceptional - cooked in a brick oven so it had a crisp bottom and a touch of charring in a few places. Will definitely eat there again.

  • 5/5 Donnie S. 2 years ago on Google
Good stuff. I sat at the bar for a relatively quick meal and a beer. I was short on time and the pizza cook appeared to be in the weeds, so I went for a chicken parmesan sandwich and a side caesar. Service was prompt, the staff all seemed to be enjoying their work, and the food was good. I'll be back.

I went here just because it was the highest rated restaurant near the aquarium. It was really good food, the beer choice is decent, and not to expensive. I had a nice hazy IPA for $7. The staff were lovely and although very busy I felt really looked after. The only downside was that because of location there were a lot of kids there who were full of beans so it was very loud!

  • 5/5 Family R. 10 months ago on Google
We spent 5 hours at the nearby Georgia Aquarium, got re-entry stamps, and walked over to Max's about 3:30 pm. It was not busy and we were seated immediately. Tanya was our waitress and she was excellent...gave us beer and pizza recommendations.

Coal fired pizza is my favorite way to eat it. They definitely do it right. The pizza came out piping hot and the dough had a nice char to it. The fresh mozzarella was delicious, but I wish they used more basil on the pizza. The wings were delicious and the salad was refreshing and well seasoned.

  • 5/5 Sheyanna S. 2 years ago on Google
Got seated fast, food brought out nice and hot, really quickly. Nice atmosphere. Shout out to the waitress-she brought me everything and didn’t hover! Also, I ordered a basic cheese pizza (Classico) and it was much bigger than expected and tasted amazing!

  • 3/5 Shyania P. 7 months ago on Google
Our experience on 09/04 was so/so. The pizza was ok however it was really thin and oily which led to the pizza being soggy and hard to hold and unfortunately there was little to no sauce on the pizza which is one of my favorite parts. It’s unfortunate as well cause the sauce tasted good from the little bit that was up near the crust. We ordered the whiskey punch and it was a really good drink. I would recommend. The atmosphere is really nice kind of rustic and the music genre was all over the place but it was nice. We sat near the front and the employees had a table behind the host stand where they all just congregated so it was a little noisy where we sat. Over all my biggest problem was cleanliness. The lady who made our drink had her hand over the cup when she brought it to us and that’s a big no no for me. As well as the man who was responsible for running the food. He had DoorDashed some Starbucks and was sitting at the table I mentioned before with other coworkers and when our food was ready he walked right over and put his bare hands on our pizza with no gloves and not washing them to turn the pizza as he sliced it. We did mention wearing gloves and he did offer to remake the pizza which I do appreciate. But he did state that they have no requirements to wear gloves when handling the food going out to the tables. I wish they did have a higher standard of cleanliness bit it’s still a decent place for a bite to eat or takeout.

A great place with tasty pizza and super friendly service. A sports bar as well as a pizzeria by design with plenty of space inside and additional seats outside that can be used on days with good weather. The pizza comes from a coal oven and has just the perfect taste. I found the service exceptionally friendly, attentive and polite.

  • 3/5 Jesse D. 5 months ago on Google
I had a good experience, but one of our party felt like the manager was short with her and left to eat somewhere else. My 13 year old son didn't like the coal fired burn on the bottom of the pizza crust. I had artichoke topped pizza, and enjoyed it. The price was reasonable, too. I would return if I was hungry enough, but I'm only giving 3 stars for this particular trip.

  • 5/5 Shanks G. 1 year ago on Google
Great service with a happy smile! The pizza was awesome. Crunchy thin crust. Sauce was perfect not too sweet nor did it taste of a can. Decent beer selection too.

"Discover another fantastic pizza joint nestled in the heart of Atlanta. I tried the spicy Italian pizza, featuring pepperoni, spicy Italian sausage, red peppers, and onions. The pizza was delicious, although I personally would have enjoyed it more without the peppers and onions. And let's not forget to mention the delightful Italian Margarita I savored."

My family stopped here after reading good reviews prior to visiting World of Coke. We were not disappointed. We got the meat and cheese platter along with garlic knots to start which were delicious followed by a great Caeser salad. The pizzas are only 12 inches/6 slices however they were delicious. We highly recommend for lunch or dinner if you are in the area.

We found this place on Google maps and I so happy we did. They made the pizza dough from scratch and the ingredients were very fresh and delicious. We also ordered the meatballs and they were good, not my favorite but the pizza is so worth it. We got dessert, the cinnamon ones but I felt that they needed more flavor or sugar, but the dough is very good. I would definitely go back, service was amazing and friendly. We didn't have to wait long to be seated. They have coke products they just miss the coke zero that would make it THE PERFECT PLACE. Tables are comfortable and you can talk, music is not loud.

Not to mention I definitely know my way around a pie/slice and it's true blooded NY slices. I also had the pizzaioli rate my home pizza.. but I won't digress anymore, check this place out or you didn't have pizza in ATL! 5 ⭐

Amazing shrimp!!!! So delicious. I love the Greek salad here as they have homemade Greek dressing unlike any I've ever had. The lettuce is also fresh, cold, and crispy. It is soooo important to have this and I've never had old lettuce from this place. The wings were jumbo, juicy, & packed full of perfect flavor. Meatballs were good. The manager, Mason, is fantastic, friendly, and fast! Highly recommend this place. They even have a great outdoor area to dine in.

My son and I went During evening hours. We were told by the host that the wait would be between 45 min to an hour. After agreeing to wait the time, I noticed that there host had a clipboard for people waiting to be seated with no intentions of adding me to it. As bad as the craving was, thst wasn't happening so I asked if he was going to add our name to the list. He did thereafter. After the long wait we were seated andalthough it took a minute for drink orders to be taken,I can say that the food was definitely worth the wait. I will certainly be back.. at a less busier time if course.

Pros: fresh ingredients you can taste; friendly service; Cons; limited restroom space near food preparation; limited mask worn by employees; tables are not socially distanced Overall: Food was great; options for both indoor and outdoor dining. The food was good, they didn't have what I initially wanted though. Then it they forgot to put my pizza in so we had to ask twice for it. And then it came out 20 minutes later. Only I'm sorry was said, besides that the pizza itself was good

A very busy place during our trade show week but the were able to accommodate our request for an earlier seating. The pizza was excellent, as was the Chicken Parmigiana.

I ordered the polenta fries and prosciutto pizza. The fries were served with a red and green sauce. Don’t know what it was. But absolutely delicious. The pizza was a little salty, but when I told the manager. He made me a fresh pizza and didn’t charge me for it. And the second pizza tasted amazing. The customer service at this restaurant was exceptional. I would go back on the customer service alone. Really. Food is amazing. Service is amazing. What more could I ask for?
