Visited this place a few weeks ago for the first time and left with some mixed feelings. Overall, the food was very good. We enjoyed everything that was ordered. Biggest gripe was the hair I found in my hashbrowns. Not even a small one. It was long and all tangled up in there. So that definitely killed my appetite. Trying to get the server was an ordeal on top of that. Should it take 20-30 minutes to flag your waiter down? Probably not. He was either missing or tending to other tables with little attention given to us. It was steady, but definitely not crazy busy. Got my meal remade/comped and took it to-go.

Edit - another super brunch here in April 23. Wonderful food and lovely service! Absolutely wonderful experience here. It's a really busy place and the reason for this is due to the quality of the food! We had to wait about 45 mins but the wait was worth it!. Had incredible local food and service was excellent. Can't wait to go return soon!

This place is amazing! Such good brunch, with creative menu choices. Beautiful decor & furnishings...dine inside or out.

Super Disappointed.. Maybe we went on the wrong day, but visiting from Michigan and found the food to be a big miss. While waiting for our first choice who had a 45 minute wait, saw this place had great reviews. But we should've waited for the other place. Had the Fowl play, chicken was bland, waffle tough, flavorless and overcooked. Grits were, not grits. Tasted more like rice and corn (there's corn in it). Waitress kept getting the order wrong. The beignets were good, but didn't taste like sweet potato at all. Hot Chocolate was weak tasting. Didn't live up to the reviews. Also insanely overpriced.

Cool Brunch Spot with Strong Food Very good brunch spot in amazing area with good service. Food -- have been wanting to come here for quite some time, as I've had a listed as one of the best breakfast/brunch spots and ATL. Finally had a chance to try it, back in my old stomping grounds when I first moved to ATL. Started out with the grits fritters. They were pretty good overall. The peach glaze was a little on the sweet side, but a decent starter. Got the shrimp and grits and overall very good. Came with red gravy and vegetables. Definitely on the tasty side for sure, but not necessarily creamy as some other southern shrimp and grits are. Bread that came with it was a nice compliment, but a touch just a touch on the dry side. Of course I had to get the folk southern fried chicken, as I had penciled that in a long time ago and it's one of my favorite dishes at multiple places. As is common throughout, very very solid. The sausage gravy was very tasty, and there was a good portion of it, as sometimes these dishes don't come with enough gravy and it gets dried out. Got the eggs sunny side up, which added a very nice element to it and added some moisture. The biscuits were not some of the best I've had in the world, but overall good enough. The chicken was delightful, fried to perfection. It's likely an unfair bias towards this dish, as it was very solid and tasty, but simply didn't measure up to some of the best I've had around (Homegrown & Brunch Apothecary). Drink -- got the cobbler martini and it was very good. Definitely sweet (as you'd expect) and strong, but a good taster and not necessary something that's easy to finish in one sitting. Definitely the risk you take when you get a martini that is named after dessert. Definitely tasty. Service -- very friendly, prompt, and nice. We were seated right when we got there. We got there on a Sunday shortly after opening at 9:00 a.m. Even though it had not gotten as crazy by the time we left, I could definitely see this place getting insane with a wait on weekend or other. Server was very nice as was the hostess. A little bit of a bizarre interaction, as one of the servers came to take plates a couple times and didn't speak and instead pointed to dishes, so I really didn't know what the heck was happening with that. Atmosphere -- beautiful area in the Highlands, next to North highland pub in wisteria among others. Actually a huge parking lot considering how highly dense that area is. Inside was really cool as it was decked out in vintage signs throughout the restaurant. Value -- this is where it definitely trips a bit. To be fair, we did order a cocktail, an appetizer, and two entrees, but still..... we came out of with over $70 including tip. We certainly understand it's ATL, the Highlands, etc, but goodness it was high. And that ties in to the "very good, but not great" undercurrent. The taste, at least for the entrees, did not match the price. That may sound silly, but when the bar is super high at other spots (Homegrown, Brunch Apothecary, Biscuit Head, & Biscuit B**ch), it lands on very good, not great, status. Overall -- very good brunch spot in beautiful area, but definitely pricey for taste v. value.

Folk Art is my favorite place to breakfast/brunch. On this particular day I arrived at 11am on Saturday with no wait. The staff is always polite and quick. I ordered The Navigator and the concept is good but the wheat bread is not strong enough for the ingredients. Brioche bread might be better. I tried the 75 cocktail with gin. And later tried their version of an old fashioned. The old fashioned was sort of thin and not memorable. Wouldn’t recommend. My friend had the lobster rolls and says they were pretty good. What I like about this place is the food is always consistent. Thanks guys for the awesome work.

Okay so… not what I was expecting. This place far exceeded my ideas! First, I went on a Wednesday morning at 10. Place was only half full so the parking was easy. Second, our server Armando was the sweetest most chill server I’ve had. Very kind, courteous, and helpful. Third, the vibe was great. Good music meets you at the door as you walk in. The aesthetic is homey with an eclectic feel. And the space was intimate (almost too intimate as I basically bumped into a guy coming out of the restroom - that was clean). Finally, what really caught me was the flavor of the food! I thought it would be basic but to my surprise, the chef GOT DOWN! I ordered the shrimp and grits while my companion ordered the chicken and waffles (menu names I don’t remember). SO GOOD!!! We stayed for a couple of hours after as this spot provide for a nice work-eat environment with free wifi.

Great food! Had the fried green tomatoes, a side of collard greens and a side avocado/cucumber salad. My husband had the southern comfort which was a shrimp and grits dish. Everything was delicious!! Atmosphere was quirky and staff was super friendly. Try this place!!

Should be a contender for one of Atlanta’s top 10 brunch spots. The sweet potato beignets were light and fluffy, covered in an excellent powdered sugar. Omelettes at many restaurants can be hit or miss, this was a definite hit. Very sizable and can be customized with a variety of veg/non veg fillers. My wife’s sweet potato pancakes were tasty and well-portioned, she could not finish in one sitting. The wait staff is super attentive and professional. There was a slight error in my meal and the server remedied the situation within 2 minutes of our food coming out. Coffee was kept topped off and hot. Very cute, comforting interior. May be a bit tight inside space wise if you’re very concerned for COVID risk, but the staff wore masks (mandatory) and many other customers did as well. Can’t wait to come back! May be crowded on weekends, so recommend trying during the week if you don’t want a long wait!

Definitely want to come back and try more items on this menu! Everything was fun and delicious and we would order again. My husbands only complaint was the bacon on his Benedict, besides that we really loved the spot. It is small so they have a seating limit. But this is a must try if you’re in the area!

Food is always amazing, Server was very kind but service can be slow. Atmosphere is always funky and fun. Love the music. The only negative points are the automatically added gratuity for all parties and the long wait for order to come out. I believe in tipping for the services rendered. It was 25-30 mins between 2 apps and 3 entries all ordered at the same time. Lobster eggs Benedict with the fried green tomatoes was amazing. They were all out of the watermelon drinks. Peach and Strawberry jam margaritas were good but not for those who want a very sweet drink. I would say they were more sweet and sour but a great complement to sweet breakfast/brunch foods especially.

It was a good experience, good food. The sauce with pork was delicious. Coffee was dark & good. Roti served with pork was super nice & crispy. Hippie vibe & old vintage style bistro. They charge 18% gratuity by default. Parking is right outside if u are lucky / early. It gets busy close to 10 am so be prepared to wait.

Brilliant lunch experience. Excellent customer service and food. The setting is amazing and loved the decor and natural light streaming into to restaurant. I love how the neighbourhood supports their local businesses and how all the businesses work together. Try the Kicked up grilled cheese, the Pimento cheese melt is incredible!

Really good food and welcoming servers. It wasn't crowded and food came out much faster than anticipated. The Navigator and Fried Chicken sandwiches were very good but the Fried Green Tomatoes are 🔥🔥🔥!

Came for a late breakfast. Had about a 15-minuge wait. We got the mac & cheese balls, which were good. For entrees, I had the patty melt with hashbrowns, and a sweet potato waffle on the side. It was delicious as usual. My wife had the steak and eggs, with a side of french toast. The food was good, but she asked for the steak to be cooked medium-well, and it was cooked medium-rare. Drinks were okay, but service was prompt.

Everything I needed to start a great day. Excellent breakfast with a shout to the banana nut foster french toast, perfectly cooked applewood smoked bacon and eggs, and a terrific cup of coffee! The service and staff were very friendly, and really helped get the day on the way with a positivity that was very appreciated!!

We went to this brunch place on Saturday at 12PM. We waited about 15 minutes to be seated. The service was fast and excellent. Overall, the seasoning was at the perfect level. Not too salty, not too bland, and not too sweet. The balance is everything! The sweet potato Belgian waffle was so chewy and fluffy. You can definitely taste the sweet potato and it was very satisfying. The fried chicken was well seasoned but a bit dry. I’m glad I chose to have the peach compote on the side because I didn’t want it all over my chicken. The french toast was also fluffy and melting-in-your-mouth. So good! Brioche toast made it extra flavorful. Despite I ordered the pimento cheese dip as an appetizer, all the food came out at the same time and I was little disappointed because I really wanted to enjoy it as the appetizer. I had a bite and took the rest home. FYI, the orange juice has lots pulp, which I loved, but I know some people have different opinion.

One of my favorite breakfast places in Atlanta! I can’t get past the breakfast menu I haven’t tried lunch yet. My girlfriend and I went to Folk Art during the week. Tough to get in on the weekend. I ordered the Steak and Eggs and she had the shrimp and grits. She said the shrimp and grits were the best she’d ever had. Everything I’ve had here has been delicious. They have a lot of good choices and it’s hard to choose what to order.

Disappointing. Chose the restaurant because of its appearance on DDD but the meatball sandwich is no longer on the menu. The Bad to the Bone sandwich was bland. The mac and cheese was a tad greasy but flavorful. The lobster roll was a huge letdown. Absolutely flavorless. Our server was fantastic and the place was really nice.

YUM! We got the sweet potato beignets, Navigator, and the roasted chili verde pork. Everything was really delicious! The Bailey's coffee and summer sangria were a huge plus. We arrived around 9:30am and we're immediately seated. About 20 mins later the line was wrapped around the building, so get there early!

Better than average food. The service could be better but I don't blame the people working there. They seem maybe understaffed. I've had their grilled cheese which was delicious. The burger (pictured) was good, easily 2 meals if you want it to be. The fries were a little under-fried so I was happy to find they are much better after using my airfryer for the second meal I had. I also had the grit fritters which was good. The peach jam didn't really go well with them but it was nice to add something to cut through the savoriness. I'm happy to see this restaurant here and hope it does well, but hopefully the employees are able to not be overwhelmed, I think thats the biggest issue

Place was very easy to find. They have parking in the back so you don't have to search around. My waiter was very helpful. I got the shrimp and grits with fried green tomatoes. The shrimp and grits were a little too saucy but it was still delicious. Everything came out hot. I also got a mimosa and it HITTTT lol I asked for a splash of tequila

Ordered sweet potato chicken and waffles. Top of the list for waffles I have ever had. Sweet jam/relish on the side was delicious as well. Would have put that on my waffles next time. Poached egg was perfect,

Ordered breakfast to-go. Got the chicken and waffles with the whiskey compote on the side. Also ordered some beignets. The waffle was delicious and didn’t need syrup. The chicken was a little tough and had to be eaten with something else. The beignets were very disappointing. I believe it's because they should be eaten hot and fresh. Once they get cold, they were rock hard and disgusting.

I love eating here! It is a must-have every time I'm in Atlanta. This time I had the french toast with strawberries & whipped cream and my husband devoured his huevos rancheros. I've never had a meal here that wasn't delicious. Already looking forward to next time! 🤤

This was my first time going in several years and all I can say is that it is just as good as I remember. The drinks were nice and refreshing, the food was delicious, and the ambience even better. We got a Belgian waffle to split since it is rather thick. We also got two huevos rancheros and one order of the complete breakfast. For our drinks we ordered one bloody Mary, a mimosa, and a folk 75 all of them were very good!

Fantastic! We didn't realize it was a Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives spot before we got there. Friendly staff seated us (two adults and two kids, ages 8 and 10) right away around 12:30pm on a Thursday. The grit fritters were delicious. Kiddo loved the sweet potato waffle. All around a great lunch spot!

I'm visiting from Michigan and this was my first time at the diner and I must say I enjoyed myself. The waitress was nice and took order in a timely manner and we didn't wait long for our. I ordered the Fowl Play, which was a sweet potato waffle with chicken on top, very delicious, and the mimosas were just right

One of my favorite breakfast/brunch spots in the city. I usually get the souther fried fowl, but this time I decided to try something different (eggs Benedict) and got some appetizers and was equally as pleased. The sweet potato donut holes were crisp yet moist, and the fried Mac & cheese balls with that drizzle?? UNFFF so good!! The servers are always super chill and welcoming.

Really enjoyed this restaurant. The atmosphere is very cool and it’s close to the Beltline, so it’s easy to get to. The food was incredible (but a little heavy) and they had solid drink options.

This is my favorite location! It’s smaller than the one in Decatur. The vibe is unique. I felt like I just found a hidden local diner. The food was great! I had two eggs over medium, bacon and cheese grits! The grits have nice chunks of whole kernel corn which I loved! We had a cozy window spot which made sipping our coffee after our meal even better.

food was very mid, basically waffle house where adding mushrooms to your omelette is an extra two dollars. better off somewhere else🥲 waffle was good but very cinnamon-y. omelette was solid but very under seasoned.

  • 4/5 HadouKen 4 months ago on Google
Food was pretty good. The sweet potato waffle was insane. I saw one of the waffles yelling at a stop sign. Foods good. Service was a little slow for our group. And whoever fried that chicken. Don't be afraid to smack some more flavor on there. They seasoned that chicken like they had a phobia to flavor. I would go back for another try.

Not impressed at all. Ordered the complete breakfast and it was an instant flashback to having breakfast in my high school cafeteria. Everything was bland and dry. Plate came out with a chip on the corner sharp enough to cut. At the end I had another’s friend order on my bill that had to be separated. Nice ambiance but has potential on improving and playing closer attention to details. Giving a extra star because of their COVID measures which is great for customers and employees so expect to wear mask even while you’re at your table until you order your food.

Went around 4:30 on a Saturday. Plenty of parking available behind the block of stores and restaurant. Sat quickly and brought glasses of ice water. Ordered the meatball burger and lobster rolls; both with the flat-top Mac and cheese. Food didn’t take long to prepare. Burger was cooked well and very flavorful. Lobster rolls had a good amount of lobster. Neither of us were overly impressed with the Mac and cheese; not a fan of the cheese they used. Would like to return for the brunch or to try other menu items. Very “hipster” atmosphere, but family friendly.

The place is nice, comfy, not overdone. The fried pickles appetizer was about the best fried pickles I've had. I had the fried chicken breast, eggs, gravy thing, forgot the name, forgot the dish as well. It was so-so. I asked for the gravy on the side since southerners are obsessed with pepper, it came of course all over it (I dislike pepper). She offered to make it again but I personally despise sitting there with no food, and then being the only one eating after it arrives. The ginger drink was awesome. I'll give it another try I guess some day.

First time here. Valet on site. We were there late Saturday afternoon...after the brunch crowd. No wait. We sat on the comfortable, covered patio. Will definitely return as often as possible.

While the service was great and I loved the atmosphere, overall it was a pretty average brunch. I ordered two eggs over easy with turkey sausage, grits and toast. Eggs were good, though the turkey sausage was pretty low quality. We also were up charged for “in-house jelly” but we’re not told it would be extra (same with subbing fruit for grits). The French toast was also okay. The eggs Benedict with salmon was probably the best order, though the food was about the quality you would expect for a very standard brunch you could make at home (nothing that special).

  • 5/5 Jackie J. 4 years ago on Google
Holy mother of God...this food is delicious! We had the Randy for an appetizer which is bacon dipped in pancake batter—-haaaalelujah. Then I had cinnamon bun French toast which was melting in my mouth. The inside is also ADORABLE and in the best location. I’ll definitely be back!

Just finished eating a takeout order from them i had the chicken and waffles and my husband had the french toast. The worst breakfast i have had ever!!! like ever!!! I have had better waffles from a gas station!! The waffles literally had no taste. Actually they tasted like cardboard. The chicken was burnt!!! Everything was burnt! The eggs are powedered eggs!!!! The hashbrowns also burnt and no flavor. Like does this restaurant even know about salt?? I usually don't give reviews, but this has been my worst experience ever!!! The only thing that was ok (edible) was the french toast and even that was subpar. Overall just terrible experience. Will not be coming back!!! Ever!!! This place doesn't even deserve a star!

Excellent breakfast choices! Varied menu. Really amazing atmosphere, artsy vintage comfortable! The gravy and biscuit was good, large biscuits that were a bit dry but gravy was tasty! The pimento cheese hashbrowns were delicious! Must go back for these! Had options to have them 7 ways! Sweet potato pancakes are soft and fluffy and not too sweet! Such a fun place to meet for any meal! Parking in the back. Nice neighborhood, off the beaten path near the Jimmy Carter Library.

Everything was fine until it came down to cash out. We had a party of 8 and things started going south when Anna, the waitress, gave us our tickets. She messed us 4 times on what others had order and 2 times on my ticket alone. The second time she had to change it, she literally snatched the ticket out my head. I was SHOCKED and asked myself out loud did she just snatch the ticket out my head. This bold Karen literally answered back and said "yes, I did". I immediately asked for a manager and then she tried to change her story and say it was an accident and papers were being moved around which is was so far from the truth. The GM Victoria tried to diffuse the situation by attacking me about getting upset instead of apologizing for the situation and asking what she could do to handle the situation. Both need to learn how to handle customers and learn some respect. Especially Anna!! So disrespectful.... besides that, the food was good. I had the sweet potato pancakes, turkey sausages (was okayyyyy), and hash browns.

The food was awesome, and the menu made it hard to order because there were so many good options! The Roasted Pork Chili Verde breakfast plate was filling and very tasty. The decor, open windows, and bright atmosphere made this a really unique stop for us in Atlanta. Have had brunch here the last couple of trips to Atlanta. Service is great. Wait isn't long if you get there before 11am and now they help you park the car - that was really needed cause this place gets so packed. Need to go back for dinner. Cash or card accepted. Get the beignets.

This place is awesome! I HIGHLY recommend the pigs in a blanket. The grit fritters are okay, but they would be better if they were served hot. I also got the country fried which was alright when hot but definitely needed more country gravy. The chicken on it was perfectly cooked though. I also got the sweet potato waffle. I wasn't crazy about the peach compote but the chicken was perfectly cooked and the waffle was hands down the best waffle I've ever had. Definitely recommend.

The eggs benedict were just a big mush ball. The spinach and mushrooms were good but the little muffin was soaked with hollandaise that I didn't care for. Maybe I wasn't hungry enough. The waiter was cool. Idk. My beer wasn't cheap and it was a 12oz instead of the pint. One of those places that depends on location and hanging a bunch of quirky junk on the wall for atmosphere, so they can charge a couple bucks more. Welcome to East Atlanta.

I stopped by for brunch on Friday, and I was impressed with the entire experience. It's a cozy spot in a nice location. My server, Brittany was very friendly, and helpful. I'm from out of town, and she answered my questions and provided excellent service. I had the Foul Play, which is chicken and waffles, with a side of hot peach, and it was wonderful. I cleaned the plate! L5P is an 8 minute walk through a quiet neighborhood with beautiful trees. I'll definitely return next time I'm in town.

We went there on Saturday morning for breakfast and waited approximately 45 min for a table of two. Due to Covid-19 the wait time was understandable, as some of the tables are blocked off. The food was good, I had the Southern Comfort (Shrimp and Grits) and my girlfriend had the French Toast, which she said was just okay. I enjoyed my meal. My issue is with the service. Our sever was polite but extremely slow and inattentive. Once we got our drinks it took him forever to come back and grab our food order, & once our food was dropped (by another server) he never came back to even check in to see if we needed anything else. Now, I am not a needy customer by any means. You don’t have to do anything extra or wait on me hand and foot. I’m fairly simple, just take my order and come back 2 or 3 times just to make sure I don’t need anything. Sheesh, really twice is enough for me if you already have napkins and basic stuff I shouldn’t have to ask for. He never asked if we needed anything else and I had to ask him for the check after watching him walk right past our table quite a few times. I am understanding as well, if it’s super busy and you have a lot of tables in your section, I can understand if you can’t get to me like you normally would. However, throughout my meal I just watched him and other servers go and hang out at the host stand as if that is more important than checking on your tables, which ultimately pays you. Keep in mind that dining is cut in half due to Covid-19, which means there are not as many customers for you to check in on as you normally would. That was extremely frustrating to watch. Long story short, friendly dude with the gold/brown tip locs, check in on your tables more and stop hanging out at the host stand unless you’ve already checked on your tables. I still took care of you because at the end of the day you still have to make your money and go into a job you probably don’t really want to be at anyway. A tip is not owed to you though. You have to at least check on your tables a little.

I absolutely love Folk Art! It’s one of my favorite breakfast spots in the city! The Foul Play aka chicken and waffles is one of the best things on the menu. My server Anna went above and beyond for me and my friends, she’s was super knowledgeable and even cracked a few jokes! I’m not sure why the other review mentioned her in a bad light. I didn’t get those vibes at all! The entire staff just seemed “family like”, even the general manager, Victoria helped out by bringing us our food! I worked in restaurants throughout college and all of my 20’s and there’s something refreshing about a manager helping their servers out in any capacity! 1000% recommend!

I love this place. I write this review as I savor the last few morsels of their mac and cheese. This is no ordinary Mac and cheese, it's presented with a caramelized bottom that adds texture to this already perfectly balanced Mac. Now on to the grits with it's bits of corn and hints of other flavor enhancers. For the first time in my life I didn't need to add butter to the grits. As for the remainder of the menu, I must say I enjoyed a good ole game of "what's that" as countless picture perfect dishes flew from the kitchen to hungry customers. These dishes looked straight out of a commercial with cascading syrup and perfect plating. Attentive and above all pleasant staff and you may even hear some singing coming from the kitchen. I recommend this spot all the way. I'll be back.

😠 DONT WASTE YOUR TIME!! Terrible service! The server cannot remember what you ordered…it cannot be that hard to write it down. Friends waited for (Hennessy) drinks…at the same table for an hour and 15min. It took the bartender 3 tries….It took over an hour to get food even with a reservation. YOU CAN...
