Faster than fast food!!! Atlanta institution! This restaurant has been around for decades and doesn't disappoint. 90% of the time this food comes out quicker than at McDonald's. The thing I really like about eats menu is its basic and it comes out so fast that I didn't even finish paying before it was plated. It's great for a quick bite or the linger. The jerk chicken is to die for the lasagna is super awesome. It's super clean staff is friendly and courteous. I highly recommend this restaurant. Oh and it's quite reasonable!!

We used to go here all the time 10-13 years ago when my wife and I were dating and when we were single before then. The menu has remained the same and consistently good. We like the Pasta bar but we love the meat and veggies bar. Our favourite is Jerk Chicken and the Turkey Meatloaf. Our sides are green beans, black eyed peas, mashed potatoes and mac and cheese. All the dishes with their nice corn bread.

Just for reference, I'm a northerner that wanted to try Southern food and my niece recommended Eats. I had the Lemon Chicken combo that came with rice, beans and cornbread. The chicken was prepared well, but not a lot of flavor, the rice and beans were fine (when doused with hot sauce) and the cornbread was so dry I couldn't eat it. Again maybe because I'm a Yankee, but I wasn't impressed.

I ordered a 4-Veggie Plate for $13 to Go, But I Don't Appreciate & Noticed that I received a Smaller Portion Amount of Collard Greens than the the Other Veggies Full of Stems in My Collard Greens! Therefore I didn't get a Full Portion of Collard Greens! The Cook or Prep Cook Should Already know 🤔 Cut & Take Out the Stems when Cutting the Collard Greens! LAZINESS! Paying $13 For a VEGGIE PLATE, I SHOULDN'T HAVE A BUNCH OF STEMS & NOTICE THAT I HAVE A SMALLER PORTION OF COLLARD GREENS THAN MY OTHER VEGGIES! UNACCEPTABLE! I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO WASTE MY TIME COMPLAINING & REVIEWING ABOUT A VEGGIE PLATE! GET IT TOGETHER!

An Atlanta establishment - if you know the city then you know Eats. Unpretentious and simple, this hole in the wall serves some of the most delicious food. The menu is simple (get your meat and pick your veggies) the self-service is friendly and quick without feeling rushed, and the atmosphere is relaxed. The jerk chicken is to die for. Add cornbread, collards, mac & cheese, and you’ve got yourself a perfect meal.

This food is the bomb. A perfect Meat and 3...well 5 in my case and they were all delicious. The barbecue chicken was fall off the bone deliciousness with a vinegar based sauce. Damn I say! The veggies were so good that I may have been seen lacking the gravy off my wrist because I wasn't wasting it! Go eat at Eats!

My first visit was good this place was super busy over lunch place was clean with a steady flow of business You can choose from 5 meats and about 12 sides as well as daily specials The fresh veggies were amazing I had chicken lasagna and I didn't care for it however my salad and the lemon pepper chicken made up for that Parking is ok however traffic was terrible in the area that's WHY I took off 1 Star I will try again in the summer

So we tried this place today and my thoughts are as follows. Lemon pepper chicken 10/10 - well seasoned and cooked perfectly. Broccoli casserole 8/10 - needed seasoning a little but good Black eyed peas 2/10 - bland as can be and not cooked well enough Collard greens 6/10 - needed seasoning also and to be cooked a little more Cornbread 5/10 - too dense/dry Rice and gravy 9/10 - that peppery gravy was excellent! Green beans 6/10 - again needed more cooking time and seasoning. If you're used to TRUE southern soul food - this may not be for you... as nothing is seasoned heavily the way we season, no pork is used, and nothing is as tender as we prefer it. But in that area - it's understandable. Food was still good and reasonable priced, and all the men working in there have beautiful souls. They alone will be the reason we come back. Their health score was a whopping 100 when we went also. These guys are doing great work - period.

I really enjoyed the ambience of this place, they played Christmas carols in the back, and the food was affordable and DELICIOUS , including the sweet tea. Staff were courteous, polite, and customer service was SUPERB! I’ll be back if the area. They also have plenty of weekly specials.

Can't take anyone seriously who doesn't love Eats. Best pricing for portions I've had in Atlanta. Their catering is also some of the most reasonable in Atlanta. Scratches the itch that Carver's left long ago. Good southern food. The jerk chicken is the best, get it with greens and cornbread. It's an absolute institution and I hope it's here forever. I will always love Eats.

Found out about this place from my haircutter. Good, stick-to-your-ribs fare. Got there shortly before closing but didn't feel rushed. Excellent food at an outstanding price. I had the jerk chicken special. Not the best location but that only adds to the fun.

I really enjoyed my visit here. Nice, clean atmosphere. The food was good. The jerk chicken was seasoned, juicy and just delicious, macaroni delicious and cheesy, broccoli casserole delish. However, the collards could have been cooked a bit more with more seasoning and corn bread was cold but still good. The booth we sat in need to be bolted down because it tips. Other than that good outing and I will return.

I haven't been here in years. I brought a small group of folks and wanted to pay for everyone. Even after explaining to the cashier I ended paying per person or groups. There could be a better process. The food was ok and most were satisfied. I got the turkey meatloaf and wasn't happy. No seasonings and without hooking up a meatloaf? What's the point. It was still good to see an affordable place still located here.

Came here because I pass by all the time & wanted to try their soul food. Got an order to go: the lemon pepper chicken, collard greens, mashed potatoes and gravy, and the chicken chili. The chicken chili wasn't spicy but had decent flavor. Also it was a huge portion. The lemon pepper chicken really had no lemon pepper flavor, but it was a 1/2 bird. Mashed potatoes were great. Collards were average. My to-go order was ready in two minutes, so that was a plus. What I will say is that the portion sizes are very good for the price. Not expensive at all, but I don't know if I'll be back soon because the food was just average to me. Hence the 3 stars.

The food was delicious but not hot. Seems as if the dishes were cooked earlier and placed in an warm oven. No biggie, considering the cost. Plus, the jerk chicken was cooked just right, not dry at all and ton of flavor without being too spicy. We were satisfied and full!

I miss eating good soul food, my friend only cooked it for me. So after work I saw this place and just walking distance. I did not expect that the sides are good portions so my plate is like a party plate 😆 I like the jerk chicken (caution it's mildly hot may not be for everyone), the gravy and mashed potatoes are worth visiting, max and cheese is good, I'm kinda bias on this one because my friend cook the best mac and cheese 😁 cornbread is ok. Jamaican ginger beer is good combination with my plate. Atmosphere is relaxing and food is fast to serve . I'll be back here soon to try their other menu

My favorite place to eat in Georgia. The Jerk chicken is a half of chicken full of jerk flavor. The mac n cheese is delicious. Love the sweet potato with cinnamon and the greens go really well with it all. The give you a generous portion of food with cornbread.

This is a hole-in-the-wall restaurant. Some foods are hit or miss. But, definitely get the Chicken Lasagna! Comes with a side Salad & Garlic Bread. Apparently, this restaurant is also under the ownership of Fellini's Pizza chain as well. Hence, the scrumptious Lasagna! Aside from lasagna, the Turkey Meatloaf & Jerk Chicken are the Top Picks for any combo meal! I usually get the Meat + 3 sides for the best deal. Sides includes Broccoli Casserole, Corn on the Cobb, Green Beans, Collard Greens, Mac & Cheese. All combo meals come with a corn bread. Unfortunately, the corn bread is tasteless & dry. But, goes well with the marinara sauce if you have some from your lasagna! Lol...

Tasty fresh food for the price! You will be full after eating the meals here! Give them a try! I ordered the chicken lasagna for the first time after eating here for years. It was very tasty and comes with garlic bread and a fresh salad too! Try this restaurant... the long term General Manager is always making it happen for the customers here! Thanks for good and tasty food that's affordable in midtownl😊

This is the place for chicken! They have amazing pasta as well, but the pasta bar wasn't fully open during my last visit. The parking lot is difficult to get in and out of, on the best day. Consider it a challenge to get great food. If you are worried this place doesn't look as nice as others, try it. I was introduced to Eats in 1994, and they have always had amazing food.

Used to eat here when I lived in the Poncey area and it was a splurge. Was back in town last week and wanted some healthy no-fuss food that didn't break the bank. Eats is the same as it always was. Incredible jerk chicken and I always order it. Collard greens are on point and not overloaded with salt so you can add as you see fit. Still playing The Cure!

Love this place! It's quirky and playful but keeps doing basic good, inexpensive food just as they have for decades. Nothing glitzy or trendy here ... thank goodness. Love the lemon chicken, rice black beans and cornbread (the "special"). Collards are very good too. Oh, and try the brownies if you are still hungry 🙂

I’ve gone to eats since it first opened and have lived in Midtown for 46 years. It has been an absolute staple that has not changed and has been consistent. I ate there today and was really pleased to see that they have a 100A rating with the health department, which is virtually unheard of especially in the city of Atlanta, kudos to eat you can’t go wrong

  • 3/5 MrMrbrandonblack 2 years ago on Google
Great Price, Free parking, very pleasant staff but the food definitely needs a refresh. Had my first visit and I tried the Turkey Meatloaf, Mac n cheese, Baked Sweet Potato, and Chicken Chili. The turkey meatloaf tasted like water with Ketchup on top. I'd recommend seasoning with Sazon Completa and some thyme to liven it up. The Chicken Chili also seemed to be lacking seasoning; I'd add bay leaf, cumin, thyme, and maybe some garlic powder to liven it up. I also thought the Cornbread was gross :( The Mac N Cheese was delicious :D

I've been a customer for over two decades. EATS has good food at affordable prices, a very friendly staff, and a quaint cozy atmosphere. I consider it an Atlanta classic. It's a great place to bring friends for lunch when you want a "local" unpretentious environment. Try it out sometime.

You can't go wrong here. The quality and quantity of the food make it more than a bargain. They have vegetarian options and daily specials. It is easy to find located in East Atlanta. Parking is a limited, and can be difficult to maneuver, especially when patrons are not considerate of others.

I wasn’t expecting much from Eats. I’ve always driven by it and have never given it a thought. But because it’s in the passbook, we decided to try it. It’s a small restaurant that’s cafeteria style. It’s very old school with great comfort food. The meats are $6. I got the Sunday special, BBQ Chicken with Mac and cheese and it was delicious. Sides are $2.80 so your whole meal is less than $9. That’s not a bad deal. I would definitely come back.

Kinda dark inside. Food is great. Portions are perfect if you're just getting your own dish. Not really sharable portions. Overall 10/10. Pictured: Black Truffle Pizza, sausage pasta, ravioli, steak, roasted carrot and avocado salad, calamari, cookies and ice cream, molten lava cake.

Local, classic, warm southern cuisine with a twist. I always get the jerk chicken and sides! I've occasionally had the meatloaf and pasta! Feels like your eating at your favorite Aunt's house on Sunday dinner! Plus, You get MORE bang for your buck here!

I'm a little disappointed since this place has so many great reviews! Maybe they were just off their game the day we came? We tried: jerk chicken, lemon pepper chicken, mac n cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy, and corn bread. Both of the chicken options were great and HUGE portions (especially for the price). But the sides were just okay, and the cornbread was pretty flavorless and dry. But the person taking our order was super kind and they got our food out SUPER fast.

Super comfy laid back atmosphere - and good portions of homestyle comfort food. The jerk chicken is A-MAZ-ING! Tastes like authentic Jamaican jerk chicken. Great mac n cheese, broccoli casserole, and bunch of other options. Very reasonably priced - place your order - your tray is ready in minutes - and sit down and ENJOY!
