They have wonderful exhibits about puppetry domestic and overseas. My only complaint is that the standard exhibition center is a bit on the small side. Also I was a little underwhelmed with the Rudolph display. As there was only Santa Claus and Rudolph. It was still a cool piece of cinematography history. I have been to there productions and there are wonderfully done. I would highly recommend getting your tickets ahead of time and not waiting the day of to get your tickets for the productions. There are mostly parents with children in the theater so having that expectation would be a good thing to have.

I had no idea how interesting puppetry could really be, but we spent 3 hours pursuing the various exhibits as well as participating in Sketchbook Saturday! This is a place for all ages. This is a place for all Muppet lovers, puppeteers, and anyone who just wants to learn a bit! Clean, organized, and the staff was truly passionate about puppets. I would definitely visit again if I find myself nearby!

We got tickets for Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer puppet show. The ticket includes access to the museum & making a stick puppet also. The show was phenomenal! Everything was done live. We didn’t have enough time to see all of the museum but loved the Jim Henson area. Can’t wait to see more puppet shows!

The exhibit was smaller than expected but still worth the kids. You experience the behind-the-scenes of puppetry. The kids have little interactive things to do in each area which helps keep their attention. Did not get a chance to catch a show but we plan to go back for Pete The Cat.

Took my 18 month old nephew here to see Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. What a magnificent surprise this was. The puppeteers were amazing, beautiful voices for singing, and the set design and production was incredible. Young and old alike will love this nostalgic show. Kids 3+ would like the museum of puppets (my nephew was a little scared of them) Don’t miss this amazing hidden gem!

So the center of puppetry was cool. I would say For the adults it gave you that nostalgic feeling. If you like reminiscing on the past with movies and shows like The Labyrinth or Fraggle Rock The Muppet show, the Old school Sesame Street. This is definitely for you. Surprising enough it had a good amount of interactive things for the kids. Items Jim Henson would actually use on a set. So that was cool. I would have liked to see a live puppet show , you may need to check showings and dates for that . Overall good place to go especially to escape the heat in Atlanta !

We attended a wedding and reception at the Center of Puppetry Arts. The facility, staff, everything about the event was magnificent. Guests from age 1 to 90 were all enchanted. A beautiful and lively venue. I wish I was better with names because each person that represents the center is so professional, accommodating and kind. They added to the entire experience. It’s just a happy place. A night that none of the attendees will ever forget. Especially not the bride and groom who enjoyed every phase from planning to celebrating. 10/10 recommend

This was our first visit to the Center for Puppetry Arts. I love the movie the Dark Crystal, so I was thrilled that not only were puppets from the original Dark Crystal there, but the Age of Resistance series as well. The videos are very educational and show you the side of puppetry we don't often see. It was so fun to relive some childhood memories with Fraggle Rock, Sesame Street, and other Jim Henson puppets. The area with puppetry around the world was really interesting. It's neat to see how puppets looked from different countries and how puppetry is done. My children really enjoyed the interactive displays. We attended the Mother Goose puppet show. It was fantastic! A lot of interaction for children - and adults can get caught up in it too! Great humor and a fun storyline. The puppeteers really ran during that site as it was non-stop. We also had fun making our own hand puppets at the end of the show. All around, a great day! Also, we found out first #tinydoorsatl on a column at the base of the entrance walkway. Keep an eye out for that!

There absolutely ought to be a museum like this. What a great collection of historical puppetry, familiar characters, and workshops for kids. I had heard of this place through a podcast, and it made our list of off-the-beaten-path Atlanta stops. So glad we made this stop!

The puppets on display were excellent, but the main reason for my five-star review is the production of Rudolph, the Red Nosed Reindeer. The puppetry was outstanding, and the cast's voice work was top-notch. Highly recommended!

My 19mo daughter loved it! Ran around wowing and looking at everything. We didn't spend as much time as I thought but what we did see was quite exciting and some even took me back since I'm a millennial with the sesame street display and Muppets, as well as others! I only wish it were more interactive for the younger crowd. Although, we did have the entire place to ourselves so that allowed for more interaction with the puppets we wanted to hang around and see longer or play with! Ha

If I could give this place 6 stars I would. My husband and I were grinning ear to ear from the second we entered to the moment we left the museum. We are both huge Jim Henson fans and loved the way this museum showcased his work. The museum was tidy and creatively displayed, staff was friendly and multiple hands on activities were scattered throughout that were fun for all ages. We have already recommended the place to multiple friends and look forward to visiting ourselves if we ever visit Atlanta again.

1st time at the Center for Puppetry Arts with my family and had an awesome time viewing the history of puppets/muppets. My wife and I read every one of those info displays lol...we are both 80's babies (80 & 83). Looking forward to coming again next year 😁✌

This place was a fun stop on our roadtrip. By far the Jim Henson area was most memorable. My teens loved seeing some of the stuff from movies we watched with them. My husband and I felt like kids again getting to see everything from our childhood. My only complaint is the price . We took our time and it still took less then an hour to see everything. At $15 a person it seemed a little much.

What an amazing place! As museums go it's small but jam packed with wonderful sights and sounds. If you have a love for puppets and Muppets you have to visit this place. Many exhibits and lots of great reading. It's a nostalgia explosion. Highly recommend for the young and young at heart!

We stopped on a random Friday with my four year old daughter. I think I may have actually had more fun than she did with the nostalgia of seeing images from my childhood in the glass cases. We did a scavenger hunt and my little one enjoyed running from puppet to puppet often telling me to hurry up. She was enthusiastic about sesame Street and loved that section. There's a section on puppets from the world and the main event is based on Jim Henson's life works.

Such a fun experience! The kids loved it! We went for the Pete the cat show and even my 2 year old sat entertained and quiet the entire time! The one year old got a bit ansy but she was mostly entertained. The show was so fun and well executed. Making puppets afterwards was probably my least favorite part only because I expected it to be a fun little felt puppet but it was only a paper "hand puppet" that you could easily print off at home and gets torn up in two seconds. So that was a bummer and I wish they'd make little felt ones that can actually get some use. But everything else was great! Lots to see at the museum and lottle interactive spots for kids.

Such a well designed museum and made me realize just how much of my childhood I owe to the art of puppetry. The exhibits were wonderfully designed and even as an adult I loved the interactive elements. The customer service was wonderful and I was so saddened that I couldn't plan to attend a show. The Christmas display was small but wonderful, I was delighted to see such a niche memory of the Christmas Special for Sabrina the Teenaged Witch. Totally worth the money and time and something I'll look back on fondly for a long time.

Do you like to laugh? Do you like to sing along in foreign languages? Do you enjoy consuming alcoholic beverages in a dark cozy theater? Do you sometimes feel like doing the time warp again? Of course you do. It's just a great way to have fun and be entertained. Easy parking and right off the 85. It's fun so just go. No kids 18 and up.

If you ever get a chance to visit Atlanta, check out the Center For Puppetry Arts! My family and I got to visit there last year. I heard about the center years ago and was hoping to make a point to visit there at least one time. Opportunity presented itself last year. It's absolutely worth it. Family friendly. Educational. Great atmosphere. You get to learn about the history and story of Jim Henson. There are also exhibits of puppets from different cultures. My favorite movie is Labyrinth, so I was beyond excited to see the exhibits from the movie. ♥️

What a wonderful collection of fantastic puppets from all over the world. Family throughly enjoyed their surprise trip to see Rudolph! Traveled from NC to visit! What a thrill to see all the Jim Henson puppets and look inside his office and the mock up creative area where puppets are put together. As a costumer and novice puppet builder I so enjoyed all the details and everything about this visit!

We only had two days in Atlanta and I was intrigued by the Trip Advisor listing. I saw there was an evening performance of the Ghastly Dreadfuls that included entry to the museum and knew we had to go. We LOVED every minute. The Jim Hensen exhibit is stunningly produced. I learned so much and was full of nostalgia seeing all the puppets from his incredible works. The puppets of the world are beautiful and brilliantly displayed. The play was everything I wanted and more! It was cheeky, fun, moving, spooky, and included a variety of stunning puppet techniques. So much fun, great value, and a delightful experience. A must-see while you’re in Atlanta!

Always a great time at the Center for Puppetry Arts! The Dark Crystal exhibit was fantastic. And every time I walk through the Jim Henson and Company Exhibit I see something new... And it brings a tear to my eye to be reminded of my childhood.

Finally we went to kids puppet show “Ugly Duckling “🦢 And checked out the museum of puppets from different parts of the globe and olden day puppet shows on television. Amazing, this is the word to describe this museum experience. Getting to see puppets from Sesame Street to the Muppets was out standing. Plenty parking and conveniently located in the downtown Atlanta. Kids enjoyed doing puppets after the show.

This is a quick and brief review: This is a fantastic museum! When I was a very little kid, I remember receiving Sesame Street Magazine. I’d look at the pictures… and I remember saying “Bert and Ernie are coming to my house”. Now as a grown man, I was finally able to meet and spend time with Bert and Ernie, as well as many other Jim Henson’s creations.

I absolutely loved this museum! The labrynth is my all time favorite movie so it was such a cool experience being able to see the puppets from the movie in person! There was a huge verity in the types of puppets they had from the clay figures from stop motion movies such as the corpse bride and the nightmare before Christmas to classics such as big bird Kermit and miss piggy they really do have it all including some puppets that were roughly 100 years old to gumby and the 2 guys from mystery science theater to a giant puppet of Mae west an amazing stop for any ages but especially for someone who grew up watching these movies and shows but honestly even if you didn't I is definitely worth a visit!

Wonderful seeing inside of Jim Henson's creativity and the nostalgia that some of the Muppets created for me! Other surprises like Madame of Waylon Flowers and Madam were excellent as well!

So much fun and very interesting. Brings me back to my childhood. Loved the new Dark Crystal exhibit. Brought tears of joy to my eyes to see things I loved so much as a child. Now to bring my kids to enjoy it too.

This place is AMAZING!!! Definitely wish we would have started on the Jim Henson side, especially since we were short on time. Well worth the visit even if you only have a hour of time to spare. Definitely get to relive your childhood. It was $15 admission which I think was very fair for how much you get to see.

I am a life-long Muppets fan, from Sesame Street to the Muppets, Fraggle Rock and beyond. This museum was a bucket list visit. The Muppet side was why I went, but the history of puppetry was fascinating and wonderful. Go to the museum, and if you enjoyed it as I did and can afford it, make a nice, big donation so that others can enjoy it in the future. Thank you very sincerely to everyone involved. What a wonderful visit.

Growing up watching shows like Sesame Street and Fraggle rock this was like a trip down memory lane! I enjoyed the history of puppets over the years and Papa tree in the United States as it was done by Jim Henson

This was a bucket list item long in the making and so worth the wait! The adult puppet show was amazing, funny, and entertaining. The museum was a great experience. You feel the magic of childhood in this place.

Definitely worth going out of your way to check out! I loved our visit. It’s a cool combination of history, how-to, and some very recognizable puppets! I do wish they had a few more features of current puppet arts in practice (i.e. Bob Baker Marionettes) to educate the public on how the form continues to progress.

Glad to be back at our favorite Halloween tradition, the Ghastly Dreadfuls! The staff is nice and helpful, and the show is amazing! Plus the puppet museum is impressive with puppets from over the world. But Jim Henson side is a lovely tribute.

What a cool place! My husband and I have always loved Jim Henson and the muppets. They have so much in this collection and the price for admission is very reasonable. Has a good parking area that is free and a little playground outside.

Absolutely wonderful place to learn about puppetry! There's a very informative room devoted to the history of puppets in different cultures and time periods. Another room is just for Jim Henson! We visited while the Maurice Sendak exhibit is installed. Really interesting to learn more about Where The Wild Things Are. The staff was really friendly and helpful as well. Would definitely visit again!

This place is a blast. We came as three adults and had so much fun. There were families there with kids and they were having fun. And there were other adults there on their own and they seemed to have fun. I definitely recommend it and they rotate out their special room every once in a while. Right now it has where the wild things are in it. I had so much fun looking at all of the puppets and seeing all of the Jim Henson items. I took about 2 hours to see everything. They have a gift shop and some vending machines near the bathrooms.

I am so happy I got the opportunity to visit. My family enjoyed everything. Definitely for all ages. Interactive crafts and puppet making. We enjoyed the Duke Ellington act, it was truly an experience. I have a family of six and spent about $130 for the show and experience. Came in at about 11:30 on a weekday it was very personal experience. Staff are really present and love their art.

We had a fabulous time at the Center for Puppetry Arts. We had kids ranging from 5 to 17 and they all had a great experience. The Jim Henson collection is outstanding. I felt like I was reliving my childhood. Seeing everything Jim created was inspirational. The rest of the museum was no less fascinating, but the Henson collection is the star of the show. We also watched Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and had a wonderful time. If you grew up in the 70s or 80s, please visit--it will be worth you while.

A wonderful museum. Great for families, especially younger children. Loved seeing The Muppet and Sesame Street characters that I grew up watching. You get the museum, a show and craft all in one. One of my highlights when visiting Atlanta.

  • 5/5 Margaret C. 2 years ago on Google
This was a great experience. About an hour (more if you watch the cool video performances) to walk through without a show. I wish we had made it to a live performance.

Definitely the most unique museum I've ever been to! I loved the exhibits and the gift shop had super cute and hilarious employee-made buttons. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.

What a fantastic play in the theater. What talent!!! Took my 4 and 8 year olds along with my mother and we had a great time. The Jim Henson exhibit was awesome. They had my childhood puppets of Fraggle Rock and many others. Well done. The Mermaid Pirate play was very well done. All the puppets, the concept, the stage, the different types of puppets used and then the kids were able to make their own marionette puppet craft at the end. Well done. Very glad we went. Will drive up from Florida again to visit.

Museum of Puppetry Arts will without a doubt be the CUTEST addition to your ATL itinerary! This museum located in downtown Atlanta houses the largest collection of Jim Henson artifacts. Special guests include: Kermit the Frog, Mrs. Piggy, Big Bird, Burt and Ernie, The Corpse Bride, and even more! You only need about 44 minutes to an hour here but if you have children you can definitely take your time as there is a lot of interactive exihbits

  • 5/5 Isabel Franco B. 2 years ago on Google
Lovely museum with a great exhibition on Jim Henson, the creator of Sesame Street and the Muppets. We went to the puppet show which was very well produced, engaging and fun.
