The sweet potato with garlic purée was delicious. The rest of the food was also good. Service is friendly. The menu changes all the time. This is a good eatery. They have outdoor seating.

Poor Hendrix is a really nice spot for a late night bite to eat. You can get anything from classic Buffalo wings, or something totally different like trout skins and spicy peanut cold noodles. Can’t go wrong with either! Definitely will be coming back for more in the near future.

Really incredible spot. Super quiet part of town and the neighborhood is awesome. Parking is easy and atmosphere is great. We had great service. I had the cold noodles and an arches unseasonal lager. Such a fine time. Will be back.

I love this place. Fair prices, delicious and fun food and drinks, and wonderful atmosphere. I come here all the time. I love the grilled cheese with tomato soup. It's one of the greatest foods I've eaten. The focaccia sandwich is amazing too and the shrimp and grits (when they have it) was divine. Definitely worth a visit. Oh, and the cocktails are wonderfully strong:)

Run to get inside, don't walk! I can't believe I haven't left a review for one of my family's staple places to eat. Incredible food, awesome service and really good cocktails. Rotating menu based on season and just darn good ingredients. The menu is always thoughtful and features great vegetarian options. Leave room for dessert. Aaron, the head chef, is an incredible chef but out of this world with pastry!

Very tasty bar food on the gastropub half with small bites and plates leaning towards the spicy and savory. Fantastic cocktail options that are superbly mixed and a surprisingly large wine and apertif selection. The beer choices aren't extremely exciting but solid local and regional drafts, nonetheless. The wings and spicy okra and shishito peppers are highly recommended. We'll try the restaurant side next visit.

Best food in the area. Always great and a always something new to try. It's our go to when can't decide what we want to eat. Not a huge menu, but everything they do is done well. 3$ cookie for dessert? It's totally worth it.

One of our favorite restaurants in Atlanta. Great food and excellent cocktails. Really friendly small-scale neighborhood atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Easily one of the best restaurants in Atlanta. I have eaten here many many times and have never had a single bad dish. My wife says the cocktails are awesome. I usually stick with a cold beer (which they have a great selection of). Thanks for the great time Poor Hendrix!

Cool, chill, cozy space with nice patio. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Inventive bar menu more interesting than dinner menu. Fun foodie venture. The tomato garlic bread with anchovy was super good and a lot more flavorful than it sounds. Soy and sesame quail eggs were unique though not as good as the bread. The baby marbled potato confit with pickled vegetable aioli and chili oil were good. Nice beer and wine selection.

Absolutely fantastic spot! Creative and delectable dishes at surprisingly affordable prices, and delicious craft cocktails served up in an intimate environment. If I have one complaint, it's their seating policy. They don't take reservations and they don't have a hostess, so when you show up, you're competing with others for the next available table. It's...suboptimal. Nonetheless, definitely worth checking this place out. I'll certainly be back, but probably on a week night to avoid fighting fellow patrons for a table.

Came here from the Michelin list, expecting good and left speechless... actually, no, with too much to say. Everything was sooooooo yummy! The dumplings alone deserved a star-- what a fascinating little dish! The grilled cheese and soup were a strong competitor for best entree. Brussell sprouts and cauliflower--wow, wow-- best meatless Monday I've had! Thank you!!

We love Poor Hendrix! Their menu rotates, but I’ll usually get the tomato soup and grilled cheese or the Italian grinder. My husband loves the curry fried chicken sandwich. Good cocktails, though we usually stick to beer (and don’t skip the rice krispie treats!).

The only reason I didn't write a review sooner is selfishly I didn't want more people coming here. It's hands down my favorite restaurant in Atlanta and I absolutely love it here. There's not a single bad dish on the menu, the cocktails and mocktails are delicious and the staff here is absolutely the best. They've been working here for so long, are incredibly friendly and make this spot feel like the community watering hole. They have a spicy cold noodle dish that's a staple of their menu and it takes me back to my childhood as it's a dish my dad used to make me growing up. The mushroom caps skewers absolutely slap, wings are fantastic and you know the food is incredible if the leftovers the next day still hold up. Great option for vegetarian friendly food and a Friday night spot.

Poor Hendrix is delightful! The food and drinks are great – as someone who avoids alcohol, I'm a big fan of the fact they stock non-alcoholic beer. And my wife loves the cocktail selection. The food is always tasty and creative. More importantly, the staff are all great, and the atmosphere is perfect. Poor Hendrix is a new discovery for us, and I'm so glad we found it!

I love to swing by here, grab a spot at the bar, and enjoy a cocktail and an appetizer. I never know how to describe the menu here when friends ask, but it’s really just inventive American food. The cocktail menu is also fun and changes seasonly. And holy moly the desserts. They’re simple but fantastic and I usually grab a Rice Krispie treat to go. The only thing that has detracted from my last few visits has been the woman bartender. I watched her flirt with a patron at the bar for so long that a couple that had sat next to me at the end of the bar left before she noticed them 😬

I saw a rating of 4.8, and the restaurant beat my expectations. My wife and I ordered 10 items that were consistently high quality: chicken skewer, shrimp skewer, mushroom skewer, peanut noodles, French dumplings, tomato soup, trout dip, sweet potato biscuits, almond cookie, and some unsweetened soda.

Uneven ... food can be great or spotty. Service is usually unpredictable ... last visit we waited 45 minutes for a single order. Good neighborhood place and obviously popular but they are lacking in adequate staffing.

Recently moved to the neighborhood and this is such a hidden gem. The bar & wait staff were super friendly and welcomed my partner and I to the neighborhood. The food was out of this world. Don't hesitate to give this place a try!

Great service, tasty drinks, and delicious food. Worth a visit. Server was knowledgeable and accommodating with food allergies, for us it was gluten and dairy.

whoa....came here on a whim, was across the street with friends and we looked it up, looked at the menu and said why not...this is the type of place I miss, reminds me of old Atlanta (I've been here since before the '96 Olympics). My friends and I ordered a ton of small plates, shared, had drinks, and stayed until the lights came up, and we easily could have stayed longer!! Cant wait to come back, wait staff was friendly, funny, gave real recos and you cant beat the price of the items on the menu...also, best white Negroni I've ever had...

Great food, wonderful attentive staff and casual conversation with other customers. Only complaint is it is too loud for old people like me. I will go back at least once a week.

We love going to Poor Hendrix as our go to neighborhood spot for a quick bite. The grilled cheese is a must and we usually rotate between ordering the buffalo cauliflower and the cold noodles. But everything is on the menu is fantastic! Love trying their rotating dishes as well. Vibes and staff are awesome. It’s a great spot in the east lake area.

More than a great neighborhood bar--very friendly & welcoming, good service, & nice, dog-friendly patio-- but also excellent cocktails and an interesting menu that's isn't your usual burger & fries. Food was excellent.

Small bites, Drinks, and Dessert were amazing. The Brussels sprouts were divine and this is from someone who doesn’t like Brussels, the broccolini is smoky and delicious and the lamb skewers are exactly what you think they should be.

  • 5/5 Jason P. 5 months ago on Google
Excellent cocktails and the rotating menu was particularly good tonight. The rice crispie dessert is magic and the charred broccolini will blow your mind.

One of our favorite spots! The food is always delicious (love that the menu changes) and we always have the friendliest service. The garlic parmesan wings are my favorite! 🤠

  • 1/5 Samuel M. 1 year ago on Google
Worst customer service in America. The food is bad and overpriced. 1 makers neat, a Philly steak (trash) wings the size of a shrimp and a Baja drink $78 dollars. Plus a $10 cover. This place used to be good when they had the games outside in the patio. Never again

Poor Hendrix has been excellent since pre-pandemic times with good service and a wonderful selection of foods. Only complaint I can make about here is that the outside seating gets a bit buggy in the summer, but the food is well worth it.

Fantastic delicious food, awesome service, and such a chill relaxing neighborhood vibe. I love that it is generally seat yourself, and that there's such a generous outdoor space to dine.

Who knew that the ultimate expression of pork ribs wasn't barbecue, but the Provençal ribs at Poor Hendrix? With those and the fried cauliflower, shrimp skewers with Alabama white sauce, fingerlings with chimichurri, and the crudo being must haves every time we go there barely enough room left to explore the menu beyond that, but it must be done. Everything is just that good. It's also financially attainable for a weeknight dinner out, which is incredible considering the quality coming out of that kitchen. Finish that off with a beer, wine, and cocktail menu that shows real passion, insight, and skill, and you've got arguably the best neighborhood restaurant in the Atlanta metro area. And they support rescue animals! Always a top choice when we're going out, and especially when we have visitors in town. Very, very strongly recommended.

This place has a pretty small menu but it’s worth it because everything is a banger! Half the time I just get multiple sharing items because I can’t decide! It’s the best way to try everything and I’ve never been disappointed. Right now the lamb kabob, the shawarma cauliflower, cold noodles and the focaccia are all insanely good. On top of that, their prices are reasonable. I always hope to have leftovers and I never do. Solid drinks and 3 dollar Rice Krispies?! Sold!

Is Hendrix so poor that he can’t serve us a full plate? Portions are small, but the quality is so exquisite and the dishes so creative that I still give five stars. The nice staff helps as well.

Poor Hendrix is easily one of my top 5 bars I go to. I love the food! My favorites are the wings, grilled cheese, and mushrooms! I also really love the staff. They’re always very welcoming and fast!

Good drinks, great food and even better desserts. Glad it’s in the neighborhood. Coke here often when I want to treat myself!

My experience at this place is always wonderful. The food and drinks are top notch here. They put a delicious spin on everyday foods and the vibe is very laid back and chill. If you go, I'd definitely recommend the shrimp skewers, the grilled cheese sandwich and you've got to have their brown butter rice crispies. If you drink, try out their hibiscus margarita. No matter what you try though, you won't be disappointed. Enjoy!

Honestly one of the funniest dining experiences I've ever had, and that's not because anything was wrong that's because our server was absolutely hilarious! Felt like I was walking into my own backyard to dine into the stars and eat amazing food! Their signature drinks are extremely creative and different. Their environment is super old world fun vibes! And their seasonal creme brules are unveilable!!!

We just moved to the area and tried out this spot as we'd heard good things and they had great reviews. Honestly, best meal I've had in a long time! Everything we tried was delicious, can't wait to go back and try more.

VERY chill, cool vibes, great staff. ONLY down-side is you need to know how to move BEFORE becoming a patron to the establishment. They have **daily** menus, so it changes—you can’t order what you had yesterday; you should feel free to seat yourself (as well as your pets); and it’s very cozy—so maybe don’t come with a party of ten; and the food is AWESOME (👌🏾)!

This place is amazing. Lots of little plates of all different types of yummy food. Tried many things on the menu and not a bad thing in the bunch. Plus bonus, they serve alcohol!

I just have to sing Walter’s praises. What an absolute GEM. He is so kind and attentive, he made great food recommendations and was SPOT ON! He has amazing energy and such a beautiful joyous spirit. Poor Hendrix is cool but I will continue to return for Walter. I hope he has an amazing day every day

😠 DONT WASTE YOUR TIME!! Terrible service! The server cannot remember what you ordered…it cannot be that hard to write it down. Friends waited for (Hennessy) drinks…at the same table for an hour and 15min. It took the bartender 3 tries….It took over an hour to get food even with a reservation. YOU CAN...
